Could you look into this for FPSC X10 aswell? I ran into it the other day with the "Grand Window" in the ww2 section.

WOW!
I tried it in a blank room and got a 301! (steady 38 with cap)

I added fatboy and a bunch of others in and still keep my 38 constant.

I find it hard to go below 38, and when it does it picks right back up again.

Yeah, I reported that bug weeks ago.
So, you're not alone on that one.

Ditto
I hope it's not that far down.

4125 are you trying to build an old game with more then 2 levels? If so try building a new game with 2 levels and see what happens.

And 4125 if you continually have trouble with this, after doing what woolfman suggests, then my suggestion would be a total clean re-install and that might include all references to fps creator deleted from the windows registry. I was having some really severe problems and almost gave up on fpsc until I finally did a 100% clean install which included cleaning the window's registry of all references to FPS Creator and (after saving all the user stuff) making sure the directory was deleted then re-installing according to Lee's recommendations on the FPSC Download page. Oh! Also make sure you saved all of your "MyGame" stuff.

I just wanna know Lee, if you've implemented a feature that detects headshots via scripting?

Like, you headshot someone, they ACTIVATEIFUSED, die and the activated could be a character that congratulates you, possibly bringing up your "money" Global variable, (when they're implemented)......

E.G. Target practice at a base, Weapons Trainer bets you £20 that you can't land a headshot first time on a certain target, (make the trgets health real low so you don't get a second chance)......

Afterwards, if you do land a headshot, youll get £20 and will move on to the next training stage, etc, etc.......

Yup, Lee said we will be getting them. Just depends on when. Maybe 1.09 or maybe in 1.08 yet? Hope, hope, hope. And of course, maybe 6 months from now. Yuck.

When will these updates (headshot, performance fixes, etc.) be applied to X10? Sorry if I'm pondering too much...

It is a fair question. My roadmap can be read elsewhere in the forums, but as a quick recap I will finish V108 so it gives some of you performance boosts and a few tweaks. I am also releasing U6.7 to the DBP community to resolve some key issues reported since U6.6b. Then I will be working on FPSC V109 which will introduce some minor features that have been requested by vote from the X9 community.

Once these tasks are complete, I will be working on what I am calling the Migration version which effectively combines X10 and X9 source code into a single code base. This may take a while, but the benefits are clear. It means bug fixes and features added to X9 will be instantly available to X10 users, and vice versa. As part of this merging, such features as head shots will make it into X10, and features such as resource metering and new AI will make it into the new version of X9. It also means X9 users will get full Vista compatibility as the engine continues to evolve.

Some minor bug fixes for X10 until then thou would be nice, mainly with the aspect ratio/fov, whatever is causing that problem.

He has already stated a long time ago that ragdoll will be put into FPSC X9. He wrote it off as a "X10 migration" thing.

@Lee:

I hope that U6.7 will fix some of those *cough*unrecognised*cough* commands in DBP... namely things like "set camera clip" and "sync mask" and "fog".

I thought he said it WOULD be included when they did the migration thing... Or am I misinterpreting what you're saying? In the FPSC Classic And Beyond thread Lee says

Quote: "X10 Migration Notes
===================

As you can see above, we will be updating FPSC V1 in the areas of speed and stability, but not major new features.

The good news is that we are working to make a special version of X10 which works on your DirectX 9 hardware. You won't get the fancy DirectX 10 features and some other features that are tied to our Model 4.0 shaders, such as Bloom, but you will get full XP and Vista compatibility, all the great game features like water, ragdoll, physics improvements, score system and much of everything else we added to FPS Creator X10 this last year. Perhaps the best news is that as an existing FPS Creator user, you will get this major upgrade absolutely free!

It also means you will benefit from our ongoing commitment to adding new features. Although we cannot promise what these will be, we are really excited about outdoor landscapes, vehicles, flying machines and more physics than you can handle. We want to empower you with the tools you need to create amazing games, so watch this space for more sophisticated models and great new features that are both X9 and X10 compatible."

I suppose technically it's not X9 but seeing as it's a free upgrade who is not going to get it?

Yes. (Don't have FPSC installed on this computer, so this is from memory) I believe it was in the .ini file that I saw an incredible value (around 6500 or so) assigned to the headshot damage. If you reduced that down to a lower value, a headshot should do less damage to the player ingame.

Thanks Seth. I remember someone saying you had to give a script to the enemies you wanted headshots to work with. The only new scripts I noticed were the darkai scripts in the people folder.

So, if an FPSC user has XP (like me, and a bunch of other people) then they can still get ragdoll, bloom, water, etc., right? If so, cool. If not, nay.

Tested headshots and I have found that the area which is counted as the head, is too large. I can shoot characters in the upper chest, upper arms and they will die instantly. I think it needs some tweaking.

BETA 6 now allows you to change the default height of the HEADSHOT and a new FPI action called HEADSHOTDAMAGE allows you to adjust the damage such a shot will cause to the character.

BETA6 should be the last beta now so if you have any urgent V108 breaks my V107 program, let me know now. My plan is to release V108 officially some time next week so I can start on the juicy V109 you are all waiting for

I'm still not seeing any speed increase. Uninstalled all FPSC packs and FPSC. Completely removed the directory. Rebooted and installed FPSC from scratch, then updated to 1.08. All of the features are present and working, but FPS remains at 32/33 even in a new one room level, or any of the included levels.

Any Ideas?

Wow, I sure am stumped. I've noticed what your specs are in another thread and seems you should be at max. There is one thing I noticed for my graphics card. The vc has a control panel and I would assume yours does too. I found a slider for settings. It went from "Best performance to "Best quality." By default it was closer to "Best Quality". When I first got this computer I was really excited about the probability that my frame rates would increase. Well, they hadn't and I was sorely disappointed. Running up through v1.07 I was only getting around 28 fPS. So, I started looking around in the control panel and found this. I thought, well let me set this baby all the way to "Best performance." That worked, at least for me. It now went up to 32 most of the time. So, now with v1.08 I am getting 38 fps with simple levels and a constant 37 with more complex levels.

Hope this might be the same case scenario for you xplosys.

Hi xplosys, 32/33 is all I would expect from V108 as the FPS is capped at that. It used to be capped a few FPS lower in V107. Those getting 38 FPS must have a system that exploits the FPS cap a little differently, and is a mystery to me at the moment. If it makes you feel sane, when I run my test games and builds, I also get 32 fps. You won't get higher than this with a capped FPS. if you want to see what frame rate your machine is capable of, run a test game and press X to see it uncapped.

Your welcome, xplosys.

That is interesting, Lee, that I am getting 37 and 38 fps with 108. However, I think I was getting it with 107 as well. I didn't notice the slider setting until I was running 107 but still running 106. Well, I'm not complaining.

I wonder if dual-core has anything to do with it? Maybe it utilizes it better if you are able to set the performance of the video card? They must have to have that slider setting because it must be possible to not have good quality images if you are running best performance. But you wouldn't think it would matter if you still have the cap set at 32. As I said before resetting the slider, I was still getting around 32 but more consistently.

Well, I'm glad you're feeling much better now xplosys.

This is weird. When I downloaded the V108 Beta 6, the installer
said that it could not open the map-editor.exe for writing. Then
FPSC broke. I reinstalled it and it seems to work.

P.S. I have not been able to build a game since updating to V108.

The fix for the Missing texture for the Door Wooden (Fake).
Copy paste this over your Door Wooden (fake).fps or do it yourself.
The file got messed up during the beta's and it had g's instead of d's in the texture name.
