Yeah, there is only so much you can do with re-textures before it becomes obvious but that is better than resusing the same one over and over.

Quote: "Valve has been using the same zombie in the Half Life 2 series since 2004. Four years later, and I'm still killing that same zombie in Episode 2. C'mon Valve, continuity is a good thing, but you could at least make another texture variation by now!"

They need to hire you then Bond, because your character texturing can't be beat.
I am lookiing forward to your Zombies very much.
Thanks again for the teasers and updates.

Thanks for mentioning that, I know that texturing jeans isn't exactly "hero" work, but I was particularly proud how the jeans turned out too, especially since I didn't use photo-ref as part of the texture.

I'll get this first zombie uploaded soon, I got a little disctracted by Rolfy's cool weather pack, and that inspired me to make the Ice Wizard. But now I'm back to zombies for now.

I used to have a boss who looked exactly like that.

Great work, though. I'm tyring to make all the models myself for my game, but when I see the quality of your work it's so tempting to just use it all!

2 Tips:

1: If you're going on a federation starship, dont go to work in a red shirt.

2: If you dont want to be a zombie, or die a horrible death, keep out of jeans.

Red shirt and jeans = bad combination.

A question, Bond. Will your zombies be able to follow waypoints? So when they see you, they break off the waypoint and go at you, or whatever.

YES! All of my characters can follow waypoints, and will abandon their waypoints and attack when they see you. Same goes for the Ice Wizard too.

The same goes for the fantasy and egyptian characters as well, their scripts have been improved. If any MP17 MP18 owners want these new scripts, just drop me an email. The one drawback is that the "stagger back" portion of the script was removed. But the improvements are: randomized melee attacks, damage to the player is now dealt just once, and waypoints.

Hey Guys - I know I said he'd be on the store by today, and I'm just finishing things up. Sorry to make you wait, but I had to add a few last minute cool animations. It'll be worth it since I can use him as a template for more zombies.

Here's a list of all the things he can do:

1) Three melee attacks chosen at random, a two handed slash attack, a bite attack, and a deadly triple bite attack! Just wait till you seen it in action, you'll be blown away. I giggle like an evil scientist every time I test it! And with the PLRFREEZE command you really feel like he's grabbing you.

2) Intro animation.
3) A dedicated death animation, drops to his knees and falls face first. Replaces the default FPSC death animation.
4) Brand new stagger animation, replaces the goofy FPSC fallback animation. Instead of falling down and getting back up, he stumbles back and recovers his balance before resuming his attack.

That sounds great Bond.
I had planned on using him as my base zombie too so expect texture variations/modifications.
I want to make at least 25 unique textures for him next month (one a day) for my new game.

The new animations sound great and will make all of the future zombies much better.

Maybe the 2.0 and other version can have slightly different limps in their walk.
There is nothing worse than a group of zombies limping in sync, well except running out of ammo after they see you.

Thanks for this update and thanks in advance for the great zombie model.

If possible, would you release the skeleton to the forums.....?

I understand if not, it's just that it'll make the models made by people much higher quality than just using stock......

I have returned, after 28 days of exile, fear me!

Looks good, however some animation transits are not seamless, which is annoyingly noticable. But good, nontheless.

Quote: "some animation transits are not seamless"

The only transition I can't get to be seamless at all times is the stagger-to-death sequence. Just because of the way FPSC handles this scenario, it's impossible for them to ALWAYS line up, because FPSC uses the same animation for getting knocked down as well as dying. Getting this new death sequence in there was kind of a hack, but I kind of agree if it's too noticeable for you than you can change the frame numbers to use the standard FPSC anims. And when X9 gets ragdoll then it will definitely not be needed anymore

Yes, this won't take any time at all, and I'll probably get that version (and a new texture too) uploaded tonight.

Ooh I just came up with a way to get rid of that animation hitch Aaagreen was referring to! These won't be approved over the weekend anyway, so I'll fix it and have some zombies ready for monday.

Have you thought about rerigging your older zombies to have some of the new animations? Maybe not the mouth due to they were not modeled with them but it would be cool to have them attack like this one.

Make a back up in case, because I think this one is acceptable.
Didn't someone say they were going to stop being such a perfectionist?

Quote: "Looks good, however some animation transits are not seamless, which is annoyingly noticable. But good, nontheless."

Ending one animation with the same frame as the beginning of another should be easy enough.
Seems that one pose could be the key frame that ties all of them together.

Is that what you guys are talking about when you say animation hitch or seamless animation?

Nevermind, just keep working on it Bond because it should have perfect animations because the rest is perfect.

Yeah the problem lies with the built in behavior of the THROWBACK script, like when a character gets hit with a shotgun blast and falls down. There's all kinds of wierdness going on in that script with animation frame juggling. I wish I could bypass it altogether and make my own, but that is one script that is hardcoded into FPSC.

I would have probably left is as is, but I think I have a solution, and I'll be working on stuff over the weekend anyway...and thanks for being patient, thread has been going on long enough. I have a female zombie companion that I will try my best to have ready by monday too.

EDIT: Animation issue is fixed, it looks great! Now onto some variations. Watching a video is one thing, but you guys are gonna love fighting these zombies.

And for all you sickos who have been wanting a bloodier version, here it is. This version doesn't have ribs sticking out, so it will be good for re-textures. I still refrained from going overboard with the blood - because I still want to make at least one more version. Plus the right amount of blood in the right place is much more effective - blood dribbling down the chin, and on stained hands is creepy!.

And gotta leave myself some headroom for more versions!

One more question. Can they run on standard fps scripts (like pace, cover, coward, etc.) or does it have a specific zombie script. If so, maybe you could do a few variations. Maybe a passive script, standard zombie and fast? Just throwing it out there...

If it feels good, it's a sin.

Both, they can run standard scripts, but most people are going to want to use the custom script I've created especially for these zombies. In my script, they will also walk waypoints until they see you, or you shoot them, then they will attack.

I don't plan on making any more script variations for this first set of zombies. But I would encourage users to look at my script as a basis for some variations, to make each zombie a little different. I've commented the script very well so you can see exactly what each part does. For example, you could make some zombies primarily slashing zombies, who only bite occasionally, and vice versa, you could have a zombie who primarily bites, which would be a good setup for a first encounter!

You should have made a version where meat is dangling from itself
and you can see the muscle deterioration and all that good stuff.
Also, I like the first version the best so far... no offense.
I just do.
