I only see the one with the ribs sticking out in the store.

I had a texture naming error on the non-ribbed one, so it got rejected on the store. I've just re-uploaded him again, so it should be approved any time now.

I better go buy those extra points now then while I wait for his approval.
I am hoping to get a t-shirt on him today.

Thanks Bond

Fixed! I think I may have to go to crappy Youtube from now on. I've just been informed by Rick Vanner that his videos were deleted from Vimeo because they do not allow videos for promotional or advertising purposes. I may get away with it since mine don't have any overtly promotional material in them, but we'll have to see.

I love the Zombie so far Bond, but I have a glitch on the triple bite.
I looked at the script and can't figure out why it is doing it, but...
If I knock him back with a morning star or other melee weapon; he sometimes grabs me from across the room.
I freeze, he reaches out and chomps, but he is standing like 12 feet away.
It doesn't make sense since the script uses the plrdistwithin and plrdistfurther.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Quote: "i noticed that every zombie in ravenholm was wear a white top and blue jeans"

I want to make a t-shirt version, then I can edit the shirt to be any color.
I want to 'layer-dye' those jeans into green and black ones too, but the image has been flattened since it is DDS.
That will make is a bit harder because of the blood but I'm going to try it anyway.

Hey Bond; is there anyway I can talk you out of the non-blood texture version of the Zombie?
If you have a TGA or something that still has some of the layers, then that would be even better.

I bought zombie 2 and rated it... Only rating so far.. 5/5!

Could i have a no-blood version of the texture though? Because it's easier to retexture with no blood.

Nice one Conjured! And I've fixed the script even more, so hold off donwloading the version I posted above. He will now no longer freeze you across the room, or attempt to bite you from across the room after being knocked back. I'll post it in a few minutes for you early buyers. And I'll remove it from the store until I get the new version uploaded.

Thanks Conjured for discovering this problem, I'll post the script shortly.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am glad I could help.

Quote: "Nice one Conjured!"

It's still a WIP, but I figured playing around with the Thugs shirt would help me get a feel for the UV Mapping.
The idea is to create a base layer that I can work with for each style shirt.
Then I can easily edit the whole shirt layer to a different color without changing the colors in the original texture.
The non blood texture is what I will be working with until I have finished coloring the clothes.
If I make some blood layers seperate, then I can mix and match colors and blood stains for even more combinations.
I thought the layered approach will be a good way to offer alternative textures without distributing the original texture.

Ok guys, here's the new zombie script that fixes all the issues mentioned above. No more grabbing you from across the room after being knocked back. Download attached, and new version of zombies being uploaded to store.

EDIT: If this version works ok for you, post a reply and let me know.

Works fine for me Bond.

I went through a ten of them spawned one at a time without being grabbed from a distance.

I'll keep testing but I think you have that scripting issue resolved.

I'm showing it has 5220 faces, but I thought it was only supposed to be 2000+.
Was that the low poly mesh or the high poly one Bond?
Place more than 4 and you reach FPSC limits and frames rates drop below 30 which causes the only 2 AI override.
Try it with only 4 on the map at one time Aaagreen.
How many were you using at one time? (I had 13)

I can get 5 to attack me at the same time with an acceptable framerate, see attached screenshot, which I think is acceptable. I don't want these to look boxy and outdated in a year, so I went a bit higher poly. Plus since this is an "in your face" character, I think it needs this detail to support the facial animation.

5000 polys would have been too much at the time FPSC was released, but we've been through several generations of graphics cards since then, which has more than doubled graphics horsepower.

It depends on the game you're making too, this is probably not the best character to use for an all out zombie-fest. But for a horror game where the emphasis is on suspense and atmosphere, where only a couple zombies attack at a time is probably a better use of this character.

I honestly have no idea how that is going to work, and I don't think TGC knows either. It's a big can of worms right now, it depends on what features make it into the migration. I think the ultimate goal is to have all models eventually work seamlessly between the X9 and X10. I think that anything that carries the X10 "badge" would have to meet certain requirements, and would be a higher charge. For characters for example, there would need to be 5 texture variations, so that's 5 diffuse, normal, and specular maps. Also 3 LOD's, and larger 2048x2048 texture sizes. That's a ton of work for just one model, so naturally the price would be a bit higher.

I really doubt that any price gouging will happen, it's just a matter of waiting for the migration and probably repackaging the models a certain way (which I AM NOT looking forward to). The store needs a bulk uploader, otherwise I'll be spending a good 8 hours just re-uploading everything.

Check your frame rates.

If you have set their ALWAYS ACTIVE to YES, then it will only drop to 2 characters if the Framerates drop below 30.

Oh, I'm not complaining.
I love it.
Here is that tattered thug shirt again.
I know the straps aren't perfect but it looks good enough for me.
All I have to do now is start using the non-blood texture and then add more blood over the shirt.

Thanks Bond!

Bond, I'll pay up to $20 dollars for that [mod edit]! That is just too cool, man! This is true commercial work right here!

I'd eagerly awaiting to appearance of this zombie in the store. It just looks awesome, not to mention you've fully rigged it's face!

Can't get much better then this, but I got one question:

Will all of this rigging and sweet [crap] work in FPSC?

Superb, above average work, Bond,

Your blue jeans look greyer on my system Bond(see other screen shots), so I made brighter blue ones...
(The glitter pants looks better in game than they do in this low-res video.)
I had fun today cutting out the zombie's pants so that I could create a dye layer.
Think I'll work on an original shirt tomorrow or maybe even two. (t-shirt and a v-neck)
Then it's on to the jackets and vests.

Quote: "You mentioned a female zombie which would be awesome, you never see girl zombies lol... OOH maybe a child zombie to really freak people out"

Yeah Bond,
I'm looking forward to getting my hand's on the female zombie texture.
You can scale the male zombie for a quick and easy kid can't you Oakley? (since they won't carry weapons anyway)
Just not the female because the little girls wouldn't be as big in the chest area.

Glad you all like them, and that disco zombie cracks me up!

Here's a quick WIP of the female zombie. There's still some work to be done on the texture, her clothes are still way too clean, and the hair is still in the early stages, but you get the idea of where I'm going with it.

Here is a free calibration wizard for Windows which works great (dunno about Mac), and it's real simple to use if you can spare five minutes.

She looks great Bond!
Don't forget to save the bloodless texture for us, because you know we'll want it.

Hey, her hair looks cool like that now (zombies' hair falls out as they decay anyway).
I could easily make her look like she was scalped by bloodying the top of her head and exposing a little skull.
The male Zombie would be nice with hair like that, so put hairy versions on my wish list, and maybe some skirts for the gals too.
That would really make the collection more diverse and give the group a more mixed and unique look.
Maybe we can get a couple versions of different hair for each model.
If you save the hair for last, then it would be easier to do the different styles, right?
Just a though; sorry if I sound picky or demanding, because I'm not trying to be.
I was just tossing some ideas around, but I'm sure you had planned a bunch of this stuff anyway.

I'm glad to see you kept her top as a texture instead of defining the edges.
That will certainly help with the re-textures; THANKS!

She looks great so far.

Dang you Bond; how do you get those jeans looking so good?
I tried to use a photo of a pair of real jeans for the texture.
They look good in the texture, but they turned out aweful in game. (see pic)
At first I wasn't going to use these photo jeans, but then I had a thought.
Do zombies stop to use a toilet?
So, I am going to stain these up a bit and use them anyway.
