Eh I hear that. I tried righting my own VB application that reads off an SQL server and authenticates it securely. Getting a few logic errors but so far its kind of cool. I don't really like VB I think its a little sloppy. Did you code this in ASP.net?

The current FPSC IP was never officially tested with X10 but multiple users have had success with it.

I'll be testing the new version with X10 so I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm releasing it soon, don't worry

The FPSC multiplayer bugs such as the 'Waiting to join' message will not be fixed by FPSC IP, I'm not even going to attempt to fix that although I may add a timeout bit so it only shows it for 10 seconds and then goes back to the menu.

Character unlocks are possible but you'll have to wait and see what's in FPSC IP wehn it's released.

Current status update:
I've just finished the friends lists and status update bit now.
So far it lets you add other players as 'friends' and you can see if they are online, what game they are playing and what lobby they are playing in.

wow! amazing But is almoast every graphic costumizable? So you can edit popup screens, menu's, buttons etc? So you won't get standard things like http://www.fpscip.com/images/screenshots/joinmenu.png

And do you mean with "witch game he's playing" with level or with fpsc game?

I LOVE this mod

But i have a quast: is you put your fpscip game on a normal site server, woult it have less lag?

It's alot more customizable than the last version, I've got a menu editor to edit the placement and how your menus look.
I've also got a button maker that lets you make buttons that do specific functions so you can have almost total control over where everything goes and what it does.

Quote: "And do you mean with "witch game he's playing" with level or with fpsc game?"

Here's an example status: Playing Facing Worlds level on OriginX - Last Soul.

Quote: "is you put your fpscip game on a normal site server, woult it have less lag?"

The new version is currently running on my web server using SQL databases.

i have a request for you:

Do you want to make an vip option? So you can make people vip. When they are vip they get this behind their name: SvENNie46 - VIP MEMBER.

Only vips can play vip-maps and only vips can play with vip-classes.

And would you make FPSCIP EXPENTION PACK CREATOR compatible with vishnu, so you can expand FPSCIP even when it's packed.

And can i use the SGlauncher tool with FPSCIP?

cheers from holland!

I'm not adding that in at this stage of the development.

I don't know how Vishnu works so the answer to that is no.

Quote: "And can i use the SGlauncher tool with FPSCIP?"

I don't know if it can be used with FPSC IP, but the FPSC IP menus can be customised seperately anyway.

ie, store the username and password if any, from a website that stores data on a mysql database, so as to create unique user names.

I think it is too complex as what

User accounts for the players are stored on my FPSC IP server databases. This way they use one user account for all FPSC games, similar to the Xbox 360 accounts.

Thanks, my main goal is to make the new version as maintenance free for the game developer as possible.
I'm trying to get it so the developer makes a game, releases it and then it runs by itself with no additional input needed other than game updates or DLC's.

So this must mean "Your" servers back at home? my only question would be how would you maintain the servers and pay for them to be online. Also did you ever make a decision with allowing a special version of FPSC IP to be bought that allows the developers to host their own servers. I have two quad core xeons rotting away that I would love to put to some use. Instead of linux distro's lol...

Quote: "So this must mean "Your" servers back at home? "

I'm paying for a web server that hosts FPSC IP.

Quote: "my only question would be how would you maintain the servers and pay for them to be online."

I do freelance work so I get money from that and that goes towards the hosting maintenance and hosting upgrade costs.

Quote: "Also did you ever make a decision with allowing a special version of FPSC IP to be bought that allows the developers to host their own servers."

I would love to provide that for people with their own servers as it'd make it more flexible for the game developers.
I've currently coded it so that the lobbies and chat data can be stored on any database but the user accounts will have to stay on the FPSC IP server, otherwise you'd get people 'upgrading' their accounts etc.

##### [Edit] ######
Here's two screenshots of the lobby/chat system:
Example Lobby with Basic Chat
After clicking 'Start Game'

Obviously this isn't a fully customized menu as the main boxes are still white and I've not changed those buttons to images yet.
But by the end of tomorrow I estimate that those buttons will be image buttons with rollover effects and the entire thing will look fully customised

All colours can be customised as well, as can the background image.
Another thing I've already got in is fullscreen video playing. The videos can be shown whenever you like, could be for a splash screen, a credits screen, anything really.

I'm adding in music playback (full MP3 support with multiple tracks at the same time if required.) for the lobbies tomorrow.
[Edit] Scrap that, I decided to add it tonight, it's in now

And another thing; if you don't want to make a multiplayer game then I've added support so this menu system can be used for singleplayer games.

Well, I am fairly knowledgeable in the feild of networking as it is my job in real life. So encrpyting or blocking a connection to someones account should not be so hard to do. Even if the data remains on your server for the accounts could the users still modify their accounts? meaning did you need a special server program to block accounts generated by your program?

the screenies are great, cod like

but can you change the font too? and can i apply a background image to the chat (witch is wite now) and can i still have costum level images shown on the back of the lobby chat for each level?

and in another tread you've said that you will give an option to remove the name above people in mp games. but would you give an option to change the font, color (or an image for every letter, so you can make gradient etc.) and the distance where you can see the tag (10 meter, 25 meter, 50 meter, always).

Thanks!

Users can change passwords, email address etc. But stuff like their level, ranking and nlocked achievements won't be editable otherwise you'd get people giving themselves all the best achievements.

Quote: "can you change the font too?"

Yes.

Quote: "can i apply a background image to the chat"

Yes.

Yes.

Distance is a good idea so I'll think about adding that in
And it's a possibility for the font and font colour for this one, it depends.

ok, thanks. I have one final question for you: would you like to make an menu like this with images, not with text:

1: Choose your level or host (lowland battle)
2: Choose your team (US army)
3: Choose your class (medic)
4: Choose your weapon kit (SPAS, G22, medic kit, knive
5: Play the game

That would be awesome

1. Choosing a level to play is already in.
2. It could be done but I'm just keeping that in the FPSC source-code, it's easier.
3. That's not possible as the other players wouldn't know what the player picked.
4. See above answer. Unlockable guns however, are a possibility.

The setup.ini file can be found in the game folder after you've built it. It's in the same folder as the built exe.

Alright, good to hear Knxrb. My only concern as a customer and a developer would be, whats the percentage up time of the servers? and if something happens (lets hope to god not) be it that you cant pay for the server or you want to just stop doing this kind of stuff. What reliablility do the developers have? if you do quit what should we do? not that you will, just wondering.

I like the gun changing and distance changing ideas. This is a great idea. Thanks again!

Quote: "whats the percentage up time of the servers"

The web host I use say 99.9%.

Quote: "but can you make the choose team option?"

It's possible, but it's not going in at this stage, I've moved past that bit for now. I might add it as a free upgrade later on.

Quote: "you cant pay for the server"

If that happens then I'll have full backups of the databases so getting it up and running again will only take approximately one day after getting a new host.
I won't ever not pay anyway as my entire business, plus websites samples/examples, etc, that I've done for clients are on the same server so that server is quite important.

[Edit] I also buy my web hosting package in blocks of one year, so that means after paying I have a full year to get enough to buy the next lot.
Donations also help.

Quote: "you want to just stop doing this kind of stuff"

That won't happen, I live for programming

It shows a bit more of the customisation with the transparency on the buttons, rollover effects(see 'Send Chat' button) and other stuff like rank images:
