also, the TOD needs work, firstly the sun is much too large and looks like a close up picture. It should be a small white light. other than that its great

thanks for this.

i know that the sun needs more work ^^
i will do this if i get time.
now i need to think about the future of this mod, after the thing with CoZ.

I feel a bit like i need to stop working on it for some days.

@Nomad Soul:
we really need to talk in MSN about the license. at which time are you online (GMT+1)

@all: hope you understand the problem!

You shouldn't stop working on it just because of what happened in another thread. People end up in disputes sometimes, and the best thing to do would be to leave it behind, I believe. But if you just want a break from the hard coding work for a while, then I understand, and I'm sure the others do too.

Yeah its no problem.
You did some great and hard work on this!
You deserve a break for a couple of weeks.

And dont worry about what happened in the other thread.
Those things can happen, you didnt said anything wrong.
Just what you thought of his mod.
That is not a crime, but some people can be a little offended even though it was meant in a constructive way.

Anyway great job on this mod!

This mod is looking good and some great work has gone into this but the main problem I see could anyone play a whole game with the DOF making everything look such a blur.

It's great how you got the effect and look nice in screenshots but I think the blur effect would just do my head in after a while and I cant see anyone wanting to play a game like it.

I never seen a pro game use DOF where it looks like one big blur, everything looks nice and clean.

The shadow effect looks awesome and all the other shaders look great as well.

This is def a project to look out for and hope the DOF will get more work on so its not a big blur.

Well done on all the work you put into this mod and look forward to a release in the future.

best s4real

I hate to say it but while DoF may not look good, it's realistic. If you focus on an object, anything around the general area will be blurred so much you will only be able to make out the general shape of objects.

I am sorry man but if i look in a room. I dont only see one object and the rest as a big blur.
I can see everything very clearly.

Like S4real said all the shaders and such looks really nice!
The shadowmapping relief mapping and the parallax one
Really nice! Really brings FPSC to a whole new level.

But the DoF is out of place. Maybe its still W.I.P?

Sorry but I'm going to steer away from this for now after what happened with you and CoZ, I was a bit uncomfortable in between the flame lol. I don't really know who to side on: You or CoZ. I mean, you did wreck him a bit...Please don't flame me, I'm just making a point.

You could have easily send him an email.
Not trying to flame you but.

Dark Goblin said nothing wrong in CoZ's thread.
And if CoZ cant take a bit of crit, than this forum is (...) like he said it is.
Though i dont think it is!

Dark Goblin has done absolutely nothing wrong so you shouldn't feel uncomfortable. Nothing "happened" between them either. The way I see it Dark Goblin gave CoZ some crit and he couldn't take it. I don't see how he was "wrecked" by him.

The mod looks really good DG. Don't let this get to you as you're in the right here. I really enjoy looking at your screens.

If you look at an object close to you and focus on it e.g. I'm focussing on my laptop screen, everything aside from the small area which I am focussing on is blurred.

marc steene, maybe you are right.
But i dont think it is blurred that much.
Maybe just a bit. Even though in a game it looks wrong.

If the depth of field was just a bit sharper. And the distance a bit further.
I think it would greatly increase the graphical point of view and gameplay!
Since than everything would be sharper you can easier recognise something that is a bit further away, instead of an enemy is standing 2 meters away from you.
And you scared the hell out of yourself because you thought it was a tree or something like that?!?

thx for all of your comments.

i will continue the work on it in some days and maybe think about the DoF.

Should i only decrease the blur amount or something else?

Well if you're intending it to be on efxMod then you could use sliders to change the amount of blur from DOF

Hi Dark Goblin

I've been on Messenger from time to time and looking out for you but haven't had a great deal of time with work at the moment. I should be online after 8pm in the evenings from Wednesday this week and most of the weekend.

Please drop me an email at chris_smith582@yahoo.co.uk if you can and I'll be in touch asap. Thanks

DarkGoblin: Nice screens I can't wait to see the release version screenshots. I just have a few questions about the new efxMod (if you can't awnser I understand). Will this efxMod have refractures, ex. windows on FPSCx10? Also will the new efxMod still have airmod working alongside it?

Edit: Will there still be a free version of efxMod and a commercial license without any extra features. I was wondering because of the "developer version" logo in the bottem right hand corner of the newest screens.

Diabolic Soft, a name that will be placed in all of the games I produce.

I have the same question as Diablos Bud. Will there be a free version? Say, supporting Bloom, Water, Sun, Time Changes, but let's say without shaders such as parralax mapping and normal mapping?

Also, is ragdolls a possible implementation? Someone got a really cheesy version of it working in FPSC X9...he posted a video somewhere on these forums.

And, any idea how much the pro/commercial version will be? I'd literally pay $200 for this.

I second that!

I'd only pay that much if it had ragdolls.

Great work! anyway

Im going to keep it straight and simple. The water looks nothing like water. It looks more like something out of a painting.

I mean, it doesn't really look that bad but the texture, or whatever your using could use a little work. The rest of the scene looks pretty good though.

I think so. Thats something we have in the current efxMod so i think it will be in.

It will!

But there will be a commercial version!

Wow

Rain, player model, dynamic water effects and a flashlight

I have a few questions:

1. Is the player model animated?
2. Have you added thunder as a type of weather? It would be cool to have the clouds light up and hear a loud crash
3. In the water you showed, is it possible to swim in it?
4. Are you going to add water physics so objects act more realistically in water (everything slows down, and if an objects weight is low enough it will float)?
5. Are you going to implement particles?
6. Are you going to implement ragdoll?
7. Once the V1.13 source code emerges, will you merge your mod with it?
8. Are you going to add lense flares?

Not yet but i want it to be animated.

Quote: "2. Have you added thunder as a type of weather? It would be cool to have the clouds light up and hear a loud crash"

Thats no weather system just decals ^^.

Quote: "3. In the water you showed, is it possible to swim in it?"

It will be possible like in the old efxMod.

Quote: "4. Are you going to add water physics so objects act more realistically in water (everything slows down, and if an objects weight is low enough it will float)?"

Also like in old efxMod maybe a bit better.

Quote: "5. Are you going to implement particles?"

No!
Quote: "6. Are you going to implement ragdoll?"

No! ^^
Quote: "7. Once the V1.13 source code emerges, will you merge your mod with it?"

I see no reason why Lee should release the 1.13 Source.

Quote: "8. Are you going to add lense flares?"

Already added.
