Hmm, that's odd. I'll have to check that out.

I really am glad to hear that you're trying out your server TheNerd. I just started classes again so my time is limited (though I'm working on the game right now). I'm still moving forward with this as quickly as possible, so expect updates, screenshots and videos as before.

EDIT: Oh and I just tried your server and it's working great. Seems like the master server is recognizing it and everything. It's actually helpful to have it there when I'm coding and testing, because I don't have to keep an extra copy running on my machine or type in my local IP.

To all:
-Just added ambient sound support that is specific to each level. The files are included in the level files, so any new map I might create after the game is released has the capability to have new ambient sound effects, rather than built-in ones.

I sent you a message in messenger on how to fix this. The next version should do this automatically.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm glad you left your server up, because I found there is an error (on the master server) when trying to host more than one server. Later once I fix it we'll need to see if we can have both our servers online at the same time.

Early shot of the new map. There'll be a bridge, as well as large rocks to jump across:

Sam, what are you using to make the terrains / run them in your code? Do you have a public release?

This game is simply beautiful. Ever thought of adding some of evolved's recent shaders? There's some killer ones on his site that would put yours up to par with current gen games.

Hey Dink. I use a free program called Sculptris. It's an amazing program for making terrains (the guy who made it I think works for the creators of Z-Brush now). I simply load it and then use some brilliant code by Green Gandalf to apply a mask that allows me to have different detail maps on different parts of the map. Lightmapping is done in Blender and then is applied with blend mapping. Sparky's collision is used for poly-perfect and smooth collision.

There's no public release because I have a key system for each copy that has to be used, but if you want you're more than welcome to join the beta team. Just email me and I'll give you a product key and the link.

Thanks man! This was only made possible by your help. I actually already have a couple of shaders by Evolved, but you're definitely right that I should check out the other ones. It'd be cool to see how sweet we could get this to look.

EDIT: Just had to post this. I was adding the bridge and (even without lightmapping in the editor), it looks so good!

EDIT: And here's the in-game shot:

Yep, I use it too. And indeed, it's an amazing program. For terrains, but also for character modelling.

Cheers

I might consider that in the future, but I think I'll have to let it go for now because I'm just trying to finish the game. But I could probably at least make them align to the terrain.

Here's another shot I just had to post:

Ok, I'm really annoyed right now. The computer I normally use to host broke, and I can't fix it at the moment. I can still host if you request it for a game, but unfortunately I can't run it 24/7.

Now that the weekend is here hopefully I can get a lot done.

-Just fixed a bug on the master server that caused the list-refresher to freeze when someone quit their server in the middle of routine connection. This made the list-refresher app freeze in an endless loop and become good for nothing. If you've noticed, this caused it to show the same list no matter what. This has been fixed.

-Now all kills reported in the top-left of the screen show the correct weapon that did it.

-Now the futuristic weapons of other players play the appropriate sound effects, not the sound of regular guns.

Haha, thanks guys.

Good news. I think I will be releasing the game very soon. I'll go into details later, but for now this is what I've completed lately:

-Tuned up the sword-fighting system. It's now so much more precise and is timed much better. Each weapon has a different damage level now, and it's much harder to get a hit on another sword-bearing player. I think sword fights are going to be so epic because of this.

-Started adding the battleaxe. I had removed it because it was buggy, so now I'm trying to resolve the bugs and get it back in. It will be slowest of all the meelee weapons but will probably be able to kill in one blow.

-Done a LOT of work on collision. Now, though there's still a couple things to work out, you actually slide down hills, and cannot walk straight up steep ones.

-Jumping is much slower, so now it's not like you're just bouncing up and down instantly.

-Edited the ambient sound effects to make them much smaller in size and loopable also.

-Worked on the interface. I decided that I will probably make no interface, except when you press certain keys to temporarily pop it open. This includes the minimap. I want the game to feel less like a game and more immersive.

More to come!

Well, I was thinking of releasing it without vehicles and adding them later. Otherwise I'll never get it out! The game seems fully playable as is, and it will be a nice update for everyone who gets it.
