Anyways, UPDATE TIME again;

Fixed;
1. Some Mesh Smooth Errors
2. Some Normal Errors

Added;
1. Gloves
2. Elbow Pads

Added some gloves and shoulder pads to the model... overall this is shaping up nicer than i thought Im also working on a female model... I might post a render today depending on how much i get done



C&C is greatly appreciated

Ok....I have some C&C and I am sorry, that it's not very enthusiastic..

First, to me he looks like he's wearing shorts and legwarmers

In addition, personally I would prefer plain clothing (uniform or not) without knee- and ellbowcaps, because it makes the character more universally usable and easier to retexture.

Also it's outdated since WW2 to wear a knife at the hip and at the front of the tigh (new model) he's in danger of ramming himself the grip into the body when kneeling down.

What I do like are the general proportions and the gloved hands

In case you find my grammar and spelling weird ---> native German speaker ^^

Thanks Ben! Yeah... well i was planning on adding a helmet so well see after that wether i should change the size or not. i actually kind of like the current proportions.

BIG UPDATE: Made a new female character model... shes lookign better than i had hoped so far

Here she is... shares the same armor as Mr. Soldier next to her They are together to show the size proportions.

Here is some advice that my 3D art teacher told me. "No matter how good you think your work is, when someone says it sucks or something is wrong with it, it sucks or something is wrong with it" I know that seems harsh, but it's very true. I'm sying this because you seem to be taking this kinda willy-nilly. You'll improve more and faster if you listen to other people. However the thing about leg warmers is probly just because it isn't textured.

That aside, I think they look really good, much better than my first characters (but I didn't follow a tutorial). the hips on the female are kinda small though...it looks more like a guy with boobs because of that. Either that, or her waist is really thick.

Well I was really not sure what to say to that as I really couldnt see what you meant and it was also quite late where I am. My apologies for the harsh reply.

Anyways, Ill ask you to wait till the guy is textured and then decide... that way you can get a more clear view

Thats a great idea, I will most probably make a plain version of the character too (time permitting). If I am unable, i can always release it as an update to the pack later

LOL, good point, never thought of that Anyways, where would it be a better place? Should I put it on the chest (well on the armor thats going to be there), or should I put it lower down the leg?

Ouch... well okay, maybe I wasnt receptive to crit in that one particular post, but are you really implyign that I never take crit?? Pardon me for respondign a bit harshly to a post that i didnt understand at 1 AM at night.

And in what way am i taking this willy-nilly? Sorry, but if you guys dotn want to characters just let me know... Im not making them out of some selfish intent here.

Well thank you. Neither did I on the Male soldier... Only for the head. And I modeled most fo the female character on my own too, just needed soem help on making the arms look feminine. And the waist is like that because there is a belt lol. i am yet to add pouches and some detail to it, so again, you will be able to see it better when it is textured.

And I was serious about not including the models... if you guys arent happy with it, Im really not inclined to include it lol

Also, what I meant by "willy-nilly," is that you weren't taking the crits from people in consideration much. at least that's how it came across. You should always try, even if it isn't correct, especially in the game industry.

Wow, I haven't looked at this in a while. Lots of new updates. I'm really loving how everything is looking, and it's great that this will be an official model pack!
I have some crits on the male/female models
The gal's belt seems a bit... clunky, I want to say, but that's not exactly the word I'm looking for...
The shirts seem a bit baggy, more so on the guy than the gal. However, the shape of the girl's torso doesn't seem all that great. It's not really shaped like a typical female's, y'know, slight hour-glass. She could also be a bit... uh... perkier, if you get what I'm saying.
I do of course have some *ahem*... references for the female character for you. Oh. Did I just say that out loud?

You're doing a great job on these! Keep up the good work, looking forward to the release.

I'am loving this pack, and i'am getting ichy trigger finger,
to have a go on them. exspecialy for the SA80 as i have been trying to do my own, but getting into a right mess.

Will the SA80 come with a SUSAT or Iron sight, as infantry use Susat and mainly enginners have iron sights, well they did bcak in my days in service, would be nice to see the Trilux in the sight.

So how is the progress coming along with this pack?

I'am not GOD but i can make you see again by taking my fingers out of your eyes and i can make you walk again by taking your beer away, but if you take my beer you will not walk again

infantry have been upgraded to acog's and the rest of the army mainly uses susats on operational tours yet ironsights when stationed in the garrison. xD

oh yes i know Sa 80 has been upgraded to Acog's Advanced Combat Optical Gunsights . but i'am british and not a american and would like to have a british one made like by the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield Lock england.in the form of a Susat.

its just my prefferance and nothing else.

Oh yeh here is a piccy attatched of a soldier doing his APWT at a germany Firing range, erm No garrison. it still depends on what part of the regement core your in.

Anyway i have a nice model of an Susat sight and when this pack is ok for release i will be fitting it with it, just to be different and post back here if all would like.

I feel like modelling and texturing some attachments, if anyone has any suggestions. I'm quite good with scopes.

In the meantime, I just thought I'd show you some gun porn - I'm trying out different gun shaders.




Unfortunately this porn is exactly that. It's pretty much impossible to get in real life. It uses one of the dynamic shaders in the Metro Theatre pack and a) doesn't work in-game and b) isn't designed for this kind of thing which I presume means it won't work altogether or will kill the fps trying. It also relies on having an environment reflection which works fine in Dark Shader, but not really in FPSC. Nice to have something to dream about though, I suppose.

LOL. Sounds great... Though I stick to what i said; I wont be making any new guns (modelling I mean) until the current ones are finished Feel free to ask Gencheff though... your bound to get some GREAT guns

And I used to use Milkshape, now I use 3DS Max to model... a whole lot easier (once you get the hang of it) and a hell of a lot better

Well, I've had this laser sight kicking around for ages in a sort of half-finished state. It's a bit blockier than I originally intended, as I didn't take the effort to model the complex connection bit at the top (that hooks it onto the rail) as I reckon no one would ever see it.

Since I dont have FPSC on the laptop I brought on the trip, all Im doing ATM is modelling. Both for this pack AND a few other packs Im involved in. So progress is still going on, its just that I dont have many screenshots to show for it

Also, I scratched the character and the poly flow was DISMAL and IMO it sucked rotten eggs, so I modelled a mesh FROM scratch and am using it to model the chars. Will post a screenshot AFTER it is textured. Mapping ATM

It's mapped, but the mapping sucks, as you can see in the pictures of it, I was to lazy to seperate the reciever and carrying handle so it's fairly undetailed there, I guess it would have looked alright if I put the right colour of metal on it... It'll will have the UV coords with it, but you might want to fix them up.

Oh, cool, I got Anim8or running on this PC... It's hard to go back to after using 3DS Max.

Yep, I hope to have it done by the first week of Sep... thats the HOPEFUL release date Might get pushed back if my testers report bugs

And Im going to have to deline on your offer. I dont really have the time to map and texture 25 new guns . Pick the best one and send it over if youd like to donate to the pack

Thats really blocky for an fn f2000. but, with some good texture work it could look closer.

Thats an FN2000?? Sorry, but its REALLY REALLY blocky. Ill see what I can do though... If Im not happy with it it wont go in the pack, sorry Like I said, Im pushing the bar pretty high on this pack and models that are this blocky... well, lets just say they dont qualify

No offence meant to you at all! Maybe if you tried an actual modelling program other than Sketchup your models would look 100x better Just a suggestion

Ha, it's okay, no offense taken at all! I was hoping it would look better when you textured it, cause that wasn't the official texture at all. And I would love to own a better modelling program, but I need to raise some money, or maybe even learn how to use Blender 3D I guess? heha
