There's a huge resource of character / building / vehicle game sprites here...

http://reinerstileset.4players.de/starteng.htm

The guy used the graphics in a pretty impressive 2D action / adventure / RPG game.

Come see the WIP!

I think I'm gonna make a freeware nature textures pack for some 2d practice, maybe a few models too. Any specific things you guys might want to be included?

Here is a snowflake image I made. It doesn't look good alone, but I use it in my snow function:

And here it is in the function (the snowflake image is free, but not these screenshots! ):

The reason why the flake is so small is because it has to be for it to run smooth with so many snowflakes in the game.

Enjoy.

Ok, don't expect animated rivers, but maybe animated textures more for small streams... maybe. I'll have a go at some snowflakes too, raindrops, rocks, grass, dirt, treebark, stuff... we'll see.

@Uncle Sam: Are you creating individual plains, cloning 1 plain or instancing a plane? Instancing should get your FPS waaaaay up

The question might not be noticed in this thread. Check out the Set Image Colorkey command. Or, use a .png image for the sprite.

Nicholas, I can't use instancing after all, because effecting one snowflake effects them all.

Good work all

If Zeddex can, you can. If you have an idea, make it.

@Zeddex: This thread is for 2d art, not 3d modelling so far. Or at least, that seems to be the main focus for it.

If you seek help or advice specifically on 3d modelling, there is a board for that. This thread specifically was started to help and challenge DBPro coders with game ready art perfect for dropping into DB projects.

So yes, 2d art here mostly - if you'd like to donate some 3d art to help someone out, then good for you. But if (as I think you said) you're more an animator than a modeller, you'd probably be best going to the 3d boards and seeing if you can help there. Animators are usually in quite high demand.

The Castle in last image I have created with 3D world studio.
The corridors and stairs where created with cartography shop 4.1

If you don't beleive in your eyes I will post the original
3D Models.

For who are interesting about the Eye of the Beholder engine style
I have the older version , I translate it from Dev c++ to DarkBasic
Pro.

If you have windows xp there is this URL (C++ yet)
It will be remake it in DarkBASIC PRO.

http://www.geocities.com/takis76/lands.zip

If you have older windows 98 installed there is this RPG.
Eye of the Beholder. All of them now is underconstruction for
DarkBASIC PRO.

http://www.geocities.com/takis76/rpg.zip --> Windows 98 only.

This was created with DJGPP and Allegro.

All of them now will be remaked for DarkBASIC PRO.

I will post Future Networks executables and source code for DarkBasic
pro when , file block where corrected and load not only .zip files.

Thank you very much.

------------------------------------------------------------
PS.
Might be have problems with rpg.zip and might be not working at all
or not working properly , or crash your computer or drop some error
message about DPMI.

I don't know why is this happen?
It just old.
There is no problem and forget it , it was created in windows 98
and needs dpmi to runs correct. And was compiled in old compiler.
If you try to run it under windows xp , if programm didn't crash
and play , it will go very slow. (if you are interested press right button on exe file and select compatibility for windows 95 or windows 98.

In zip file there is all source code in c++.

Try lands.zip this correct and runs perfect with music and faster and is pure windows xp.

It has its source code for idea about dungeon crawler engine.
I will recreate this engine for DarkBASIC Pro , with full explanation how is working , for people who interesting to Create some Dungeon
Master for DarkBASIC Pro.

Engine will be supported with Level editor.

Thank you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
oppps P.S 2

Is in Greek language.
DarkBasic Pro version will be in english.
All games will be in english when finished in DarkBASIC Pro.

Yes , Texture Maker is a very good programm to create textures.
There are many free textures in the internet to.
Then you can copy paste , cut , move with a paint programm as
paintshop. Then you mix up things and other regardless pictures and
you create a very good interface. Or a completely new image.
You don't need to be Picaso only fantacy needs and patience.

For someone who interesting to capture graphics for old school graphics where are in very small resolution for example 320 x 200
pixel old games as , zelda and 2D old rpg , for funs of 2D.
As platforms of nidento old games as super mario.
You can use Scale 2x program , redecorade all pixels.
Multiplys all horizontal and vertical pixels x2 or x4 or x8 from small image and guess the forth pixel. It takes the average value of
color for horizontal and vertical pixels from image.
And you can create smooth graphics in resolution 800x600 and 1020x768 easylly from very small pexeloid 320x200 images.
If you are interested I will post the programm.

You can create everything you imagine , its very easy.
Future networks was created by scanning one graphics card in scanner
and make my circuits for interface.
I edit the good parts of the image and make a pseydo futuristic
interface.

Very easy , only the idea and your fantacy.

Then with google you will find some faces for rpg.
-----------------------------------------------------------
11100110
01010101
11010101
01010101

Binary matrixes where created using 2 for
for horizontal and vertical matrix with and array
like dim my_matrix(8,4) as integer
and puts the matrix in the array random with random colors for
each matrix. And them I put it on screen , nice effect.

As about maps , find in google , earth map , or geophysic map ,
science map , ecean map , or satellite earth map. And you will find
many maps.
You put the better map you like.

There are many Fonts , The problem here is there are few , greek fonts for games.

Bitmapped fonts I didn't managed yet , but , I used on trick about fonts from forums here and thank you very much.

About intro , this is a big job.
With help of TrueSpace 6.6 and GameSpace 1.6 I will create all of my
intro movies for my games.

The intro you are see in the example is been created with 3d studio.
But I prefer to use TrueSpace and Game Space now.

For someone who interesting about models , there are many programms
which creates good models.

I have many surprises for you. Look one example.

This monster will rule my fantasy kingdome in my rpg , it needs some
texture or skin , if someone could skin perfect this monster , I will
give it for him/her. FREE for your game.

DarkBASIC Pro , what a beautifull language is!!!!
