I agree nice tutorial link,.. I used to do things similar to that but have since switched to using bryce to make any iso tiles I need. I'll post an example later.

Cheers!

Ok, Here's the way I do it..

1) Make a quick and dirty model in Anim8or,.
2) Load the model into LithUnwrap and save the model and a UV map..
3) Paint the texture in my fav paint program Artgem and save the new image..
4) Import the model back into Anim8or and apply the UV map, resave the model..
5) Load the model back into LithUnwrap and preview it to make sure all is ok..
6) Save the model as a .x file
7) Load up Bryce
8) Load model and center it in view (making sure the image render size is 512x512) and rescale it to be as big as possible.

9) set the second cam to the same as the directors position and change the view angle to 30 Deg.
10) Resize again to make the model as close to the final rendr size as possible (this helps in the post edit phase.. makes less work)

11) load the newly renderd image into my Fav paint program ArtGem and clean up the edges and sharpen the image a bit.
12) crop the image to a good size and resave.

Voila! an Iso model render fit for gameplay.

Note: I've been doing this for awhile so I naturally have templates and preset bryce files where I only need to load the model, palce it and switch between director and cam views to get the 2 different renderings. I also have templates in ArtGem that make post production a breze.

I hope you like this quick example of how I do Iso work, Cheers!

P.S. I attached the .x model and texture, use it at your own risk.

looks great Dave,

I have anim8or and am yet to figure out how to set the camera angle to be 30 degrees, so I have been handcrafting them. I am sure if I could get a model to render properly this would save me time, but I also have to say there is something I really like about the not as perfect look of purely drawn pixel art. Another bright side of drawing them from scratch is I am doing it in layers so get quick and easy interior views and think it will be easy to Fade out parts of the image for game use. I am using graphics gale for all my work.

I also think this should have glue all over it, but I have a funny feeling Mods don't come in here all to often.

Hobgoblin Lord, only the model was made in Anim8or. the rendering and camera angle adjustments were all done in Bryce 5.5.

Cheers!

I pixeled a dragon in mspaint (used only the pencil and floodtool )

Its my first pixeled image and i think there should be better Paintprograms than paint (Photoshop isnt really good for this). I looked at the beginning of this thread, where David Gervais (whose Pics are great ) wrote, that he uses Artgem. But you cant download or even buy it anymore

Is there still a possibility to get Artgem?

Cheers - that ended up in spam too.

I've emailed IconBuffet as I also ordered some paid-for icons and the order confirmation also ended up in spam. I think their server has been blacklisted for forgery (they sent me an email on your behalf, which is basically forging your email address).

Cheers Chris! Let me know if you get anymore free deliveries.

Getting back onto the subject of pixel art ... I found this rather wonderful tutorial which demonstrates how to apply Photoshop's various techniques to shortcut the sometimes tedious work envolved in creating pixel art.

Well, IMHO.. letting people know about Icon Buffet is nice and thanks for the info.. using the thread to 'Spam' a multitude of exchanges when you both have each other's email addresses and could have done the exchange that way, is what made your original informative post into a long series of 'private exchanges in a public forum'.

We are now fully aware of Icon Buffet, so please no more Icon Buffet posts here please,.. did I say Please?

Scraggle, thanks for the tutorial link, very interesting.

FYI: I have some ideas spinning in my head and will be posting new stuff soon (TM).

Cheers!

That tutorial looked complex. I think its defianately a different way to make pixel art though. Then again, I'm not very artistic at all.

Sorry to bump this thread up again, but I have a "challenge" (request)

I need a soccer styled menu for my new soccer game.

(http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=83681&b=1 for rough design, as it's still in it's rough design).

I would really appreciate it.

dabip, a bit more info would be helpful. and the thread you linked to has code that just gives errors about media not found. Here is what your request did to my brain..

Q?: What kind of menu?
Q?: Does he want a panel menu?
Q?: Side panel? Bottom panel? Top panel?
Q?: Perhaps a full screen menu?
Q?: What items does he need for the menu?
Q?: Is it an options menu?
Q?: Perhaps a save load menu?
Q?: Is he being sly and the menu request will be followed by game graphics requests?
Q?: etc,. etc,. etc,.

So given the vague nature of your request there can only be one answer. No, sorry I'm not psychic and cannot work blind.

Now My question (in case it has not become apparent yet) is could you perhaps provide a bit more info? I mean come on, how can I help you when you are not helping me.

These types of requests just kill me laughing my head off.. Ha Ha Ha, Plop!.

Have a great day cheers!
