when u make weapon models, how often are they too big or too small?
And, how often are they incorectly rotated, I.E. facing backwards?

i think you should make a "resize" button,
because in a model tool you cant see how big it is.

something yoy might do:

the resize screen is a screeny of an ingame part with FPSC over that there is a box with height,weidth etc. cordinates.when we adjust those coordinates it changes in the picture from size and height.

hope that is a good idea

Ok then, #update#

Right now i'm testing out settings in the trial of FPSC, and it's taking a heck of a long time to do the quick level preview, which isn't even what i ment to click. Here's A small feature list, all of wich are currently implamented(when
I say implmented, i mean in GUI, not nessacerialy in Exportation.):

Scope option
Automatic option
Files
3D Positioning
Animations

Settings currently in the workings:

Custom MuzzleFlash 80% done
Smoke and Brass 75% done.
Dammage, Weapon type, ect.

Stuff I plan to add:

3D scaling and rotation


Stuff that might not make it into the early build:

Custom smoke and brass
Flak, I.E. 3D bullets (grenades,LAW,Bazooka, ect use this)

Can't say i'm about done either, on acount of me only getting to work on it like 1hr. a day. Would you rather wait a while 4 the super D-lux version, or have (soon) a feature stripped down version, that would at least import weapons?

And you can give people the option to buy the stripped one for a small amount and give them the upgrades as you get them done.
Or make the free version so you can only import a set amount of weapons or something like that.
You could even have the demo version change the color of the weapon to your own choosing or have "code master" printed on them.

Ok, does your prog, allow us to set the animation key frames (what frames in the .x file are shoot reload etc), or do we still have to do that in the gunspec file?!

...i think your prog should do it..

And dont listen to people telling you to give out a free stripped down version early. Wait until you've got an amazing product ready, then sell it. This thread is easily one of the most hyped on the forums, and, at the end of the day, you should only put it out when you're fully happy with it.

I think you misunderstand.There have been a variety of products that have in the same vein as I have suggested.

Magic FPS
and the list goes on.
Last,but not least,FPSC Creator is avaiable as a demo.
I am not suggesting that Code Master release a buggy,crappy version of his product.
I made my suggestionsin an earlier post and I feel they are valid.
And while Code Master doesn't have to follow my suggestions or anyone else's it is nice that he listens to them and that he asks for them.
I have download,looked at,tried and ran everything he has uploaded onto this thread and made comments and suggestions as Code Master asked.

#UPDATE#

Just did a test to see if my Framework was holding proper data, And i'm happy to say it is! (ouch! typos ) What all this means is:

1.) GUI :: 75% done
2.) Data From GUI is stored :: 80% done
3.) Data From GUI is displayed :: 40% done
4.) Data From GUI is written to file :: 10% done

So, looking pretty good!

Possibly. I have attempted this Before, but it was not working smoothly. Only time wil tell.

While you are positioning the Hud.x, if you hold down space, the animation is played. Is that adequate?

The following are all methods of getting your waepons corectly rotatedscaled:

1.) A small program where you load, rotate, scale, and then save your weapons (must be before animating them)

2.) A database of the Unit Conversions between FPSC and popular 3D modelers.

3.) A model that you can import into your 3D app, which shows the correct rotation and scaling, which you could then fit your weapon to.

Which one of these sounds best? I want to give users of WC some way to get their weapons correctly scaled/rotated, but it's not feasible to make a program that would allow you to rotate and scale, after the animation process. The reason being, that it would take many months to perfect a workin .X file export that included animation.

The awnsering of the above question is essential to the finishing of WC. In other news, WC is strating to generate the Gunspec.txt file! Below is a fractional sample file, made entirly in WC, without manuly editing a line:

So, it's unanimous then. Understand that the scaling/rotating MUST be done before animation, otherwise all animation data will be lost. (In exported file, of course, NOT the original.) Is that still satisfactory?
