Personally, I have absolutely no problem at all with our closet 'spammer' David Gervais. If only we could all spam at such a high level of quality.

I will probably have another go at a banner later tonight, and hopefully go for a different style from my last.
(And though I tried to take on the sizing comment about my others, Megaton, I couldn't get more of the text on screen without it looking far too busy, I thought. Thanks for the feedback though - it was appreciated.)

My tools of the trade are as follows..

ArtGem, Bryce 5.5, PSP 8 (with some great plugins) and a few misc programs like Anim8or (free 3d modeling package www.anim8or.com)

ArtGem is by far the program I work most with, the others are mainly used for processing, not editing. (I can do in 5 min what takes a half hour and some major headaches to do in PSP or Photoshop.)

EDIT: FYI: PSP and Photoshop type programs are desigend for post production,.. making something from scratch in those programs is way too much work for me, I just want to have fun without having to take a university course to know how to use a program properly.

Cheers!

I'm learning The Gimp...those first two banners were the first two things I ever made with it. I made them go away, as they were dumb. Trying again though.

Edit: I added the image to the post, and I also forgot to congratulate everyone on their good work so far. TGC is gonna have a lot of pictures to go through for the short list.

@David Gervais

Well, I'd like to amend what I said by offering a compromise. I like what you did when you posted all your banners in the same post. They were all very good, and they were all nicely displayed in one tidy post.

It's the chaos of this entire thread that kinda got on my nerves. I probably just woke up on the wrong side of the bed.

Heres my atempt

Quote: "Your banner must be 459 x 60 pixels in size."

I know its NOT in size... but it was the bst i could do!
If there are any spelling mestakes here... its because I have a nose bleed!!!

I know I broke the rules... but it was all I could manage

@Wehtam_: Ooooh cogs! I love cogs. Very nice banners there - it's all I can do not to imagine some cheesy teen-superhero cartoon where they all shout -
"Sync on!!"

And generally, to everyone the quality seems to be improving. Lets hear it for iterative design, eh? (Or persistance, or random chance - but I'll be optimistic .)

Another one.

Would everyone stop recapping their work please? I can understand your doing it a few days before the end of the compo, but just repeatedly recapping is eating into peoples bandwidth. Summurize you work around 28th - 29th of June by all means, but before then it's totally pointless.

Ok, another one from me.

It's unfortunate that jpegging attacked the banner with a large sharp knife and didn't stop till the screaming did, but hey - that's jpegs for you. Inspired by the recently expired patented form of toy building blocks. (You may have noticed the many copycats that sprang up). It actually says "TGC" on the blocks.

This is a somewhat cleaner version then megaton cats view of a cat sandwich.
