Aww, I was looking forward to this as well..
Hope someone else carries on with it if Xarshi doesn't return.

Good lord it has been a while. I'm not going to lie, I have been and still am busy. Especially since school just started and I have a job.

However, with this being said, I will attempt to get this project back on the track. I've dropped my actual motivations in creating games for now, but this isn't something I need to work very hard on.

I'm going to warn you. Progress will be slow. As you have seen, I disappeared for a while and it will likely happen again as I have things I do. School comes first for me.

That all being said, I would really appreciate it if someone did pick this project up as obviously people want this to happen. If someone wants to and has a fairly decent understanding of C++ and Havok (or even a basic understanding of Havok and I can help) then that would be amazing.

I HAVE uploaded the source previously, however it had a glitch with vehicles. If the person who wants to take this up (should any actually want to) wants, they can contact me and I can supply help where needed.

Oh, also, Kordman, I have my reasons for stopping the Irrlicht thing. I supplied a fully functioning demo, and anyone capable of programming in C++ could at very least, if they somehow can't manage to get havok working on their own, modify my code.

lol. Don't worry, Xarshi, I have school and a job also, and I have the added restriction of Mum not being overly fussed on me using the forum. So I understand completely! I would try to continue your project if you did happen to fall off, but unfortunately I have never been able to get the hang of C++.

Hey, Xarshi, could you possibly give us the source code for your plugin? It seems you might suddenly disappear and never be seen again and then we would never get to see Havok working fully in DBPro.

Ignore my above post, I have actually got somewhere with C++ and I think I now have the skills to continue your project. Oh, I just read you have actually uploaded the source somewhere above, so I will go have a look for it. Hmm....must be on the first page.

Anyway I would love to continue your project. I may not be able to start just yet, though, because I'm assuming you need to download the massive 790mb Havok SDK. Well, unfortunately, I can't download a thing that size. I will have to wait till next time I go to town (Armidale to be specific) to use the Hi-Speed Internet booths there. They're really good.

So for the moment I will continue to learn more about C++ and continue my Bullet Physics wrapper.

Yes I found the source but unfortunately I can't start yet cause I need the Havok SDKs and can't get them yet (too big) but I am continuing my Bullet wrapper (look in the WIP forum section, should be near the top).

Ok I have the Havok SDK now! I went to Armidale on Friday and used the Hi-Speed internet kiosks. I actually downloaded it twice. I was bored, waiting for the download to finish, so I started reading a review on Crazy Machines 2 (it's coming in the mail). I got so interested in the review that I didn't notice it had finished, and I looked down to check just as the timer hit 0:00. I felt the blood drain from my face. I then watched in horror as the computer proceeded to shutdown and then restart. By that time I was feeling rather depressed.

As soon as the computer had restarted I put more coins in and went quickly back to the Havok site and started the download again. It was about half way finished again when mum came back. I had been feeling all right until then. Usually when mum comes back it's time to go. Luckily, mum still needed to go and do yet more shopping, so I was allowed to stay and finish the download.

Anyway, after all that I can't understand how Xarshi's code works. It's all split up into lots and lots of different files and it looks to me to be somewhat over-complicated.

So for the moment I am sticking with my Bullet wrapper (which is going quite well, I'm just waiting on a reply from IanM on why some code isn't working the way he said it should, read here).

If people are truly really interested in this, i guess i could maybe start working on it. Me and Xarshi were pretty good friends and he helped me a lot with my DarkGDK wrapper, which I dont think anyone knows about becuase i didnt release it in the WIP. I'd prob do an entire rewrite, since his code was very messy. I've never made a dbpro plugin either, so that might take some work. Id also need to take a look at the problem he was facing with the vehicles. Did he ever release the source with the fixed code for vehicles? It depends if i get my Wolfenstein Enemy Territory XNA port approved, or if i dont have anything else to do and arnt too busy with school.

Yeah, we are really interested. I failed in my attempt to wrap Bullet so that would be great.

Yes, I think Xarshi writes somwhat messy code, and it's kinda hard to understand sometimes.

We really do want someone capable to continue this!

Definitely needs a new thread - you need to be able to post news and downloads in the OP.

creating something like this takes a lot of thinking
and trying to understand some one else creation
is going to be a mind bender in soo many ways

good luck to you Binsky

a couple of things I have played around with
in db and dbp and things i've got planed
I know I will be trying to move ahead

I'm shire when Xarshi started working on this he spent many
hours trying to get a plan together

now that Binsky is working on this there is going to be
bugs here and there but not by choice ;oP

I've spent nearly 10 years looking at code
and now that I was starting to made some head way

I'm delayed but not having access to a good computer
after I got that taken care off I know

I will make head way ;o)

a bug is only a bug if it moves
once it squashed then it's just a kicked out pest

If a thought is Just a thought ~ so whats the main thought ?

I've noticed that many of the "better" plug-ins for DarkBasic, GDK, etc. are eventually commercialized and sold for a unnecessary price. If this plugin were to continue development I'm hoping that you release it under a free licence such as Zlib or something and not sell-out.

Has development on this project ceased? This was very promising and it would be a shame if it had.
