OK, someone explain this whole 3d world studio thing to me. What is it? What happened to CShop? All of a sudden I saw people start talking about 3d world studio and not CS, can someone point me at some threads/news posts to inform me what is going on?

3D World Studio is the new world making program. Developed by the same person as Cshop. 3D World Studio is better than Cshop though, and you can find information about it by clicking on the provided link.

FXTC, that image above, the one with the Cheatah, or Pantha, are they concept levels for demos etc. They're rendered like actual photos, and seem extremely detailed to be used for real-time rendered scenes in games. Either way, very nice images

Paul.

Welll it doesn't really compare to anything of the quality in this thread, but

Starting out:

Progress in Gile[s]

This wasn't actually made with 3DWS, it was made with 3ds max and Gile[s]. But I love this thread so much that I wanted to put it here.

No matter how much you love this thread, this one still apply:

Quote: "Please Notice:

This thread should only be used to post maps made in either Cartography Shop or 3D world Studio."

I think you're the first one to break that rule.

@APEXnow: He used v-ray(render) which means that it cant be used in game, only the mesh without any rendered effects... I guess!

Great maps everyone!

The Nerd, maybe you should add a little more detail to that level. It looks kind of plain, if you know what I mean?

Great work everyone!

Olby, yeah, although I know they're just rendered, I was really wondering if they were concept ideas, to be developed into maps for games. But they seem more like images for printed artwork etc.

Paul.

Here are some shots from a project I'm working on now, all made with 3DWS, all from DBP. Not all that detailed, but I'll be adding to the buildings. The integration is great - now with v6, the DBOs load great.

I love 3DWS. It's improved so much since I bought it. Anyone who says that it's too expensive is smoking crack - it's a very fast and stable 3D modeler and lightmapper, with tons of included media. Maybe you all should say "Looks nice, I just can't afford it right now..." instead of "Looks nice, but it's too expensive."

Come see the WIP!

Here are some pictures from the map I'm working on. It's very small, because it's a demo map for a game me and some friends are working on. You might have seen my friend Joey on the forums around here... I think his name's nemezis or something. He mentioned some guy called "lost in thought" who really helped him out. Anyways, here are the pictures.

Thankyou, Megaton. Everyone always asks what the blue areas in all my pics are. That blue is a temp placement texture i use when building the maps. Its just a cover up texture to fill the surfaces instead of it auto selecting the first texture in the folder. I stop at certain times and decide on textures for certain areas, to get a better feel for the world.

Could you please enlighten us all as to how you have curved the road textures?
I have been trying it by warping the texture in photoshop but it takes a lot of work and rarely looks perfect

Thanks

Heh, I think he has told about 3 times now.

But nice looking map. It looks very much like everything else you've posted so far. But the blue textures kinda ruin it for me, even though they are just placeholders.

Thanks guys. Yes indded the blue texture is the placeholder that i use. Freddy when you say it looks like everything else ive posted are you saying there needs to be some more variety? Is that a good or bad thing? All the pics ive showed are from areas that are very close to one another and share the same theme and texture sheme. Thanks for the feedback.

I just meant that you can really see that every scene you post belong to each other, and that you are good at keeping the same style and theme in all the scenes. So it was a compliment.
