That's what I'm talking about baby!!!! I want characters like that in FPSC! Will X10 have all new characters, segments and entities or will it be all the old stuff made shiny? What about MP, will multi-player games look that good in X10? I like the water effect but what about water color, can we make it red or green in X10?

sorry for so many questions, I'm just excited about getting X10.

Well, RickV, I hope you'll drag Lee out of his X10 cave soon! It's getting musty in there!!

And, if he could, ask him to implement DarkAI and simple ragdolls into v105. I wanna see a video of the ragdolls.

And...I think we could also have DarkPhysics in there. No need to rush.

It is my understanding that Lee is making AI and physics improvements to FPSC x9.
Which are two of the three main things that FPSC needs...the other being reduction in file sizes.

Is it possible to get outside landscapes in FPSC X10?? stuff maked by 3D world studio for example. Cause it would be great to make a game that is outside a building. In a very nice looking jungle or a huge forest.

It's possible in FPSC X9, so I would assume that it works in X10.

I know this isnt a "post your ideas" thread but what I want from the new FPS X10 is:

- Ragdoll (FPSC will never be boring again.)
- AI (That dosn't suck!)
- Realistic water with no required coding (Jump in and swim around, dead bodies float.)

I also think some kind of easy "objective creator" should be included. If you blow up so many switches, a door will open.

It's quite simple actually (i think), just export your 3DWS level as a model, and make it into an entity using "entity maker".

(If your 3DWS level uses more than 1 texture, make sure that you set it to dynamic, not static).

Whats the benefit of exporting it as an entity and not a segment?

So doing a terrain as an entity wont work then if it has no collision for enemies, so you would be best them doing it as a segment if that was the case.

Though if there is no collision for enemies with an entity, don't they walk straight through all entities.

There has been several "terrain"-style maps made by using entities (and some segments). It's just like with the static objects, like boxes: you can walk on them, so can enemies. Also you have to remember that you can place entities more freely than segments, since they're not limited/locked to the grid.

The only problem is that some objects and especially characters may lose their collision with the terrain object(s), thus falling through the "ground". Entities also tend to consume performance, since they are constantly rendered if there's no segment blocking the view. Limited, optimised maps on DX9-version are required to make the game playable, something I believe X10 will improve & fix.

these seem to work pretty well with enemies, as ive placed polys in places where they are needed.

I'll be working on this next weekend, I have to revise this weekend as my exams are next week.

EDIT: I don't know what I posting here, I was posting something about another thread I think; I was tired.

This looks good, but before I purchase X10 I have some questions.

1. Will it use particles for dust impacts (when a wall is shot)?
2. Will enemy muzzleflashes be particle or 3d-ish like in newer fps games?
3. Will blood effects on characters be particle oriented?
4. Will guns use streakers, actually fire more accurate at close range and less accurate at further distances?
5. Will player muzzleflashes be decals?
6. Will it support realtime ambient maps?
7. Will the player bleed and show splatter on the wall behind him/her?
8. Will it be able to show gunshot wounds on enemy characters?
9. Will it have higher frame rate capabilities than x9.
10. Will it be able to have lightrays other than decals but true rays?
11. Will it have abilities for team multiplayer?
12. Will it have draw distances so decals ect. aren't constantly running.
13. Will it have a way to set how many weapons the player can hold in your game?
14. Will it have a weapon drop and swap system, and real duel wielding?
15. Will it support vehicles, in first or third person?
16. Will it have allies?
17. Will it support parallax occlusion mapping?
18. Will it have switching gunshot sounds for weapons such as (fire, fire1, fire2) to prevent repetition.
19. Will it have the option to have different shapes of bulletholes for the same suface so the player can't tell its all the same bullethole.
20. Will it have bullet flybys and ricochet sounds?
21. Will it have the ability to make some rooms echo and other rooms more sound absorbent.
22. Will it be possible to give certain guns higher rates of fire and other guns lower rates of fire.
23. Will it have a way to make a game autosave in a certain place /or when a certain thing occurs?
24. Will it have object blurring if it is traveling fast?
25. Will it be able to show depth of field in certain areas?
26. Will it implement the use of iron sites (not just flat)?
27. Will cross hairs have the option to ride upwards when gun is fired.
28. Will it have lighting features such as spotlight or directional to go along with the current omni lightmapping?
29. Will it implement destructable entities such as glass that when shattered falls and stays on the ground?
30. Will it have a way to increase jump height in the player?
31. Will it have a way to make guns burst fire.
32. Finally will it be able to have enemies whose AI is really aware of you ( the player ) and reacts realistically.

Will there be an FPSC version for OGL3 when it comes out?

I don't want to pay £200 some odd for an OS I won't like.

I have a video card (ATI) that is equal to an Nvidia 8800, will it actually run Direct X10?

Will FPSCX10 support separate textures for one model?

Who will die first?

FPS Creator is Direct X only (No Open GL).
FPS Creator X10 will only currently run on the NVidia 8000 Series cards. They are the only ones that support Direct X 10 currently. ATI is suppost to be releasing their cards soon but no date has been set.

Here's a brilliant idea.Instead of waiting for them to read your posts and answer your questions you can try e-mailing customer service,Lee,Rick, etc.
TGC will have all of the answers to your questions. You just need to exercise a little PATIENCE.
Better to wait and have TGC release a top notch product than to have them hurry up and release a disaster.
And that's how I roll...

I normally do, but have been very busy with work this last month.
But thanks for the update, it is nice to see ATI finally get some stuff going after their merge with AMD.

Rick has given me permission to post work-in-progress shots here, since I'm fortunate enough to be a beta-tester.

I've attached a picture of a new character in the works.

Kewlage

I was thinking after seeing the first two pics.. "Is the mouth open in one and not the other?"

Talk about adding more realism.
Nice work bond1, very nice.

Edit
Yes, I saw the soft shadows too.
Yes, I saw the knee deep in water shot.
Yes, I like the missing boot too!
It's all good! (actually it's all excellent)

Second Edit (I can't get over this character's pics)
The detail in his ear is awesome and makes me wonder what your FrameRates were?
I mean how many polys is that puppy?

Thanks! And I can honestly say that it's X10's engine that is adding a whole level of polish to the characters, they don't look anywhere as good even in the 3ds max viewport.

It's very hard to not talk about all the cool things about X10 without violating the NDA. But I'll just say, wait till you see it in motion. And I'm not talking about a low quality Youtube video. Wait till you see it in full resolution on your own monitor, you'll be blown away.

Yes the inspiration for the character is from D3, with a healthy dose of Bioshock thrown in, I can't wait for that game, forget Crysis!

Bond, could you please post shots of X-10 with the standard models that ship with fpsc. Different segments, and without the water. I swear all we ever see in the bloody water. I know lee and them are so proud of the water, but seriously... it is getting out of hand LOL

One thing that panics me is if this has working depth to a texture, like parallax or proper working normals, they don't work in DX9, which is a massive shame and hold back the engine a little for commercial projects to doing just stylised games, that should be priority one for DX9, get some depth working in the textures, and for DX10 it should be working as standard, I haven't seen any shots of a texture on a wall or floor with depth to it yet, just plain flat textures, I hope this is something that we will see soon.
