maybe this is not important but the Techdemo works on a HD2900XT from ATi

so this:

"Requires Vista & GeForce 8800"

should be changed to

"Requires Vista & DirectX 10 graphics card"

My System: Intel Xeon 3060 @ 2,4 GHz, Asus Commando, 2GB DDR2-800 RAM, Thermaltake Shark Black, Sapphire Radeon HD2900XT, BenQ FP71E+

Oh some questions about X10. Do your changes with the sliders (ambient light, water, etc) automatically save when you exit test game so you can re-test it without having to re-optimise it again or is there a "save changes" button or something? Is there a fog and fog color slider? And does the water slider effect the whole map or only the floor (level) you are on? Please try and answer these questions soon,

I want the best to, but lets say it takes a year, will there be a new OS to make Vista obsolete by then? I am just saying, there is all this tlak about it posted and a demo, but why can a release date not be locked on? It seems like they are draging out the release. Either way it is OK as I am working on my other projects, but it is the point that the date keeps geting pushed back. Maybe we will hear about it in the next newsletter. I am glad I did not switch to Vista yet as it FPSCX10 is not even available yet. They can take their time, as it will mean prices for the new technology will go down.

I do not agree with that. They made this thread a while ago. Why make it if it was not going to be ready.

Would you not want to promote your products?
In that case please do not post anything unless it is ready to sell. I mean we should get rid of the WIP board completely because some projects take a long time to finish.

With myself being a senoir programmer at my work (which is a small company) it does take time to develop great things, it also takes away family time. I am sure almost everyone if not everyone at TGC's has a family of some sort which they forfit in order to work on new/upcoming projects.

I have never posted a game in here because I have not made one 100% ready to sell. On top of that, any company who has made a game does not publicize it until they have a finished product. So, am I crying about it. No, but I dont think its fair to some of the people who are buying all these upgrades to not have the product. When FPSCX10 was first made, prices for hardware were up. Now, later on, they have dropped. But what about the people who thought they were geting a product soon and upgraded. If you think thats fair then we have adifference of opinion. I was going to upgrade right away, but I did not because I decided I would just wait as I wanted to finish my own project first. I am glad I did. Maybe in the next newsletter we will hear about it. The delay does not affect me as I cna wait all day and year. But what about everyone else who upgraded immediately because they thought they were going to get X10 soon. If you could not tlel not everyone in here has money. So, I feel that was slightly unfair to make poeople think they were going ot get a product sooner then later. That was my entire point.

I can go on download.com and download thousands of games that are not finished.

Either way not to get into a flame war I am ending it here.
If you did go out and buy the latest stuff it was your decision not TGC making you buy it. They are not making you buy anything.
Just like Microsoft releasing Vista. You do not need to buy Vista, or upgrade your computer. You just won't get to use the new Areo (I believe it is called that) look.

Again for those who think it is unfair, this is how companies work, you need to wait until they finish stuff before you decide on what to do.

I just thought, i've seen no screens with the WWII media in them, has that been cut? Is the stock media ganna be sci-fi only?

@Grunge: Theres not much point as that one would only work for scifi games. They should have their generic one, and people can just make their own

Honestly thats not the way all companies work, but if you believe that then I feel sorry for the company who you work for who makes you think that is OK. There is nothign to get into a flame war about. On top of that, I am not mad at TGC, I just think they put a little bit to much hype into X10 before it was obviously ready to launch. As far as comparing this to Vista, they said they had Beta Versions and then a final version. I dont see how you cna compare the two. As far as downloading games that ar enot done, well if they were for testing thats understandable, but to relase a game thats not done to just release it, that makes no sense. But I dont feel a need to try to get my view across, so good luck in whatever you do and I wish you the best.

I agree with that for sure. Almost every company does that. Thats the marketing technique.

That was hilarious. The way its oging they are going to have the next Version of Windows out after Vista. But seriously though, despite my comments I do appreciate TGC puting in new features like the swiming etc. Either way, they still have a good product.

I think Rick might be on vacation. I can't remember when he told me he was going to take it.

That might be the reason why he isn't responding.

Either way, you have to wait. Just like the Halo hype. wait is all you can do. Keep playing with FPSC X9 and keep learning so when you get FPS X10 you can create some amazing stuff right off the bat.

Yeah I'm not PO-ed or anything it's just strange. I don't think Rick should have chosen now as his vacation time plus he said something like "it's hell down here at TGC!" I actually want them to take there sweet time with X10 and make it built in with better saving and loading in built games, very little bugs etc. Although if it's so busy at TGC right now I can see why he might want a vacation. What Halo hype?

I don't think Rick is one of the developers but I could be wrong, so it wouldn't really matter if he went on vacation.
Be kinda like the president taking a vacation that owns a tech company. He doesn't need to be there to make software

Okay...Rick is the head marketing guy for TGC...so he decides when x10 is released.
The bottom line is that TGC's policy about releasing stuff is...
"we will release it when we release it".

I thought I might as well show some more pics, since I'm starting on some texture variations. Nothing fancy, but notice how well X10 does lighting, the characters even cast shadows on themselves!

Thats what figure, about a 3 man team with maybe the occasional free lancer helping out. I just wish they would get their act together and give us updates at least once a week. That really isn't allot to ask
