Yeah! Not that hard to find, I found it with Google pretty fast too. I mainly just wanted to bring up someone's writing style from six years ago.

Banner from the Game Guru Forums:

They may want to turn AA on before taking a screenshot for a banner for the forums of their new product.

It has undoubtedly changed quite drastically since the time in which that post was writ.

However, I would not know... or do I?

Oddly enough I was just thinking of those old posts the other day, how much fun it was to code that level editor and talk about level editors with Venge. I miss him. I wonder why he stopped coming here?

Also is anyone else wanting to vote for mr Handy to get a "Drama Queen" badge? His little blow up in the GameGuru thread was quite hilarious and overly dramatic.

I kindly advise you not to make jabs like this at him, even if he was being a troll. Just has the potential to bring the debate into this thread, which wouldn't be good.

True! I just don't understand why he wants to aggravate people.

ANYWAY!

I have purchased ProBuilder 2. It is well worth the money! I managed to create decent structures in a matter of minutes!

I'm creating some test textures and then I'll be sure to post the results here!

A lot of their screenshots are like that. The problem is not that AA is turned off, it's that they scale up the shot. Yes, really. I often feel like TGC has no clue about marketing.

I don't think he does. I think he's just upset that people are dissing his beloved DBPro.

Perhaps. Their new main site is looking epic though! They've replaced the old shiny orb TGC logo with an all text logo in a neat font, which is a very good move for the current era.

See how nice that looks? The Game Guru and AppGameKit logos, similar, look neat too.

Gah, Youtube's loading algorithms are broken and annoy me. I will have a video playing in 480p and loading perfectly fine, with the loading bar easily three times as far as the actual playing bar. Then suddenly, the whole thing unloads, switches to 360p, begins reloading, and often pauses for a brief moment. Then it begins playing again, this time the video loading even better, then suddenly it does the same thing down to 240p, then again to 144p. I understand reloading at a higher quality, to give the user higher quality as soon as possible. But reloading to a lower quality is simply not necessary and really irritating (heck, merely switching to a lower quality, whether by reloading or not, is also unnecessary for minor slowdowns in loading speed). It would be nice if Youtube gave users options to choose between different loading algorithms, trading between quality, interruption free watching, consistency, etc. But no, be like Apple and make those decisions for the user.

Laziness, can't be bothered to actually type real words.

What are you playing it on? You know you can manually select the resolution to load at, right? And also if you open a video and then pause it and leave the browser open for more than a couple of hours, when you go to play it again it'll have to reload the page before it continues from where you left off.

ProBuilder is so awesome!

I accidentally overwrote my fancy structure I had built last night though. Well it wasn't that fancy, it just had more ramps. So I whipped this up quickly:

Bonus, here's my marble shader. Although you can't see it in action, I can assure you that it's quite shiny! Gonna add an environment map asap as well:

I have a random question for you, Clonkex. What will you be doing in five years' time? Just wondering.

I personally have 20/70 vision. Yeah, it's not that good.

Quote: "Laziness, can't be bothered to actually type real words."
Haha, I am not complaining about the +1s. They get the point across just fine!

Quote: "What are you playing it on? You know you can manually select the resolution to load at, right? I usually leave it to auto. Do you have to manually set the resolution for each video, or does the setting stick? And haha yes, I know that YouTube is terrible with multi-hour old videos. All of the videos I was having trouble with yesterday were freshly loaded and started giving me issues the moment I loaded them. Oh well, things seem to be better today.

I live in a rural area, but we have a great ISP. Usually pretty consistent in their speed. However, over the past years, the speed consistency has been decreasing, probably due to the ISP increasing in popularity.

Random thought of the day:

It is weird to think about a forum as a group of brains, around the world, communicating with each other, using their bodies and technology as a tool for doing so. Sure, that's how all communication works, but it's still sort of odd to think about. This message you are reading is not much but a direct result of the activities of a bunch of neurons in my head. How fun.

Nah. You've applied pressure to the membrane of your keyboard, sending an electrical signal coursing down the USB cable to your PC, where it is handled by the operating system, and then passed onto your browsers input handler, where the keyboard input is converted into a character which is then rendered.

You've then clicked "Post message", sending data in the form of http down an ethernet cable, into your modem, and to your isp where it travels though no doubt hundreds of DNS servers, switches and hubs to reach it's destination, the electrical signals arriving in series are then reinterpreted to reconstruct the data.

And that's simplifying it, and missing out loads of steps.

Ah, is that how that works? Haha I knew all of that, of course. It's very difficult to properly get across what I am trying to say in a way that really makes sense. Just sort of weird that, at the highest level, we're all just lumps of cells passing meaningful signals back and forth.

Aye, YouTube sure is interesting. I was streaming a video just fine at 480p, which is the highest it ever automatically goes, then suddenly it jumped straight up to 1080p, stopped playing, and immediately crashed. The video player did that staticy fuzz error thing, and reloading didn't help at all. Oh well, all solved now.

Reminds me: does anyone here watch Rhett and Link? I have recently started watching them; quite the entertaining folks!

How strange! Auto mode works just fine for me. I've never had it do that before!

-----------------------------------------------

A whole bunch of parts for my 3D printer arrived today! I have the hotend and extruder assembled. Next step is to model the whole thing to scale in Blender and work out what parts I need to manufacture from wood (wood will do just fine until I can print replacement plastic parts ).

Nervous that it won't work right on the first try? As of a few years ago, building your own that successfully worked without headache inducing calibration was impossible. Perhaps they've come a ways since!

I discovered Rhett and Link back around the time of their "In the '80s" video being really popular.

I watch them sometimes but my brother is a devout fan of theirs. He knows most of their songs by heart at this point.

Oh yes, definitely, but I'm also pretty confident I can make it work no matter what the problem.

Speaking of 3D printers, today I discovered that I'd actually ordered the wrong size of GT2 pulley. I ordered 8 pulleys with 5mm bores without thinking about the fact that 6 of them had to go on 8mm steel shafts. *facedesk* I was thinking about the 5mm shafts of the stepper motors. Not entirely sure what to do to resolve the problem at this point. If I had a drill press I'd just drill them out to the appropriate size since they're just light aluminium. I can't just drill them out with a hand-held drill because the holes need to be exactly centred or the printer will be inaccurate. I'd just order 6 of the correct size but I can only get the right size from Hong Kong... grr. I feel like there should be a simple solution to this but my brain is giving me nothing.

I mentioned that we finished watching the entirety of Breaking Bad the night before last, right? Well, last night we started watching Better Call Saul (which only started this year!) and after the first episode I can say I'm very much enjoying it
