I'm having the same problem, but only with some weapons. Will someone with MP9/10 and the EFX Mod download and test out this level? I can pick up the MP5, both AKs, and the M16, the shotguns and the Katana crash on me.

I have just downloaded your level and yeah it crashes for me too! Another problem is swing door, such as the wooden WWII doors will not open for me.

Oh, hang on. I installed again and it installed fine, but, when I click on efx help in the taskbar, it says something like that it can't run: file not found or something....

Can anyone help?

EDIT OF EDIT: Ok, I fixed the test game issue, which I posted like this:
Quote: "Now the test game won't even start loading. Please help. I'm good and ready to throw my modem, monitor and computer out the (censored) window."

Ok, so I fixed that by replacing the efx test game with normal one. This is the heart of my problems. I'm thinking that I need a different test game, like the efx one was corrupted or something
(efx game was 3mb, normal is 13mb).

Okay, i'll post the mod as a zip archive soon
(AaronG, i read your post)

the same problems a user of the german community had... tried disabling AV Software or Firewall?

Quote: "Oh, hang on. I installed again and it installed fine, but, when I click on efx help in the taskbar, it says something like that it can't run: file not found or something...."

same thing

@m man:
what are your PC Specs?

Quote: "EDIT: Now the test game won't even start loading. Please help. I'm good and ready to throw my modem, monitor and computer out the (censored) window."

check if there's a FPSC-Game.exe in your FPSC Directory... maybe the loader failed downloading... there should be a backup in the FilesBackups<NUMBER> Folder (it is automatically recovered when deinstalling)

Quote: "Does it work with V1.08?"

seems to
some users reported problems, but most of the screenshots you can see on the first page are made in v1.08

Quote: "i got a 5500, will an ati radeon 9550 run faster?"

that's not a big step...
these graphics cards (both!) are discontinued by their chip designers and the performance is freaking low, compared to today's mid-class (e.g. HD2400/2600 or 8600GT/8800GTS)

i'll read all the posts again and check every problem

okay then it's a problem while downloading... can be firewall, router, proxy or else

So, your'e saying that this is supposed to work if I get rid of the efx game runner and put in the normal one?

I appreciate the effort a great deal.

@Nighthawk

Does this use HDR Bloom? If so, could you edit the source to save on some frames, 'cos alot of people here don't have X10 capable, built in microwave kinda PC's......

No, it does not use HDR Bloom
it's inspired by Evolved's Projects

i had to re-write both the water shader and the bloom shader (it was a little bug-hunt...)

i will see what i can do for you

the next steps to 1.5 will bring the ability to deactivate the effects, profile management (for easy loading the settings used in other testgames and using these settings with scripts in built games), performance increases and the ability to change the effects quality values (e.g. Camera Output Size that is used for the water and bloom shader's cameras)

EDIT:

AaronG, i saw you are using Vista...
try running the mod loader in Administrator Mode

@ Zaibatsu yes it is just with the mp9 and 10 weapons (particularly the shotguns etc).

I'm wondering if it's something to do with bloom being applied to parts of the weapons, it might not like something being instantly spawned on screen.

You might want to update your graphics drivers. The problem is, the 5500 is a very old card. It won't fully support all the features in current versions of DX9c. Whilst it is a shader model 2 card, I'm betting that some of the features used (like the water) are probably shader model 2.x or even 3.0 features.

You're right, Avid

I've added a Screenshot Gallery on the efxMod Hompage.

If you want to contribute a screenshot, post it here.

@Nutcase:

Can I add your screenshot you posted here:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/xt/xt_apollo_pic.php?i=1429497

to the efxMod Screenshot Gallery?

well that pretty much renders this mod useless, as those were the best weapons for FPSC...

When i first installed this, I could have the water and bloom on and fill the map with dynamic entities, and I would get an FPS of about 35-38. Now, even with a single room square for me to stand in, I always get 21 FPS, regardless of how much I put...

it's definitely your graphics card...
as i said before - you need a graphics card of at least mid-class
you won't get much performance with Entry/Lowend Class card

at the moment, newer ATi Cards like the 3850 or lower ones are not too expensive and offer a great price/performance ratio

that doesn't mean you should buy new hardware...
that means: wait for the performance speedup update and then see, how many FPS you get

....lol.

If a Geforce 7950 is low class, what's a Geforce 5200 like?

Also, something weird I've noted is that in my first try of this fps=3 with 1 light.....

Today, I tested it with 3 rooms filled with lights, and fps was 10-15...

Also, have you added a timer-based fps system? Because it seems like it because speed hardly is affected when I use it....

It was for the first six hours I was fooling around with the water, but now it stays at constant 21 FPS. It's weird. I've tried shutting down every other non-essential process and it doesn't help.

Here you go

http://www.helixsoftware.eu/efx/efxmod.zip

efxMod Service is included, but may not work if the Loader didn't work

and: a txt about all new Scriptcommands is included
(even the Loader-users don't have this )

btw. a user who had a similar problem to yours (i mean xplosys and Zaibatsu) just reinstalled the FPSC - and it worked (for some reason)

insert.

I cant change skyboxes with this, well I cant open that whole section, I gorget the name of it, the whole properties section, edit game properties or what evcer its called. could be becuase I have it running a 1024 skybox. so its causing problems, perhaps one can change skybox manually.

So quite a bug for me, looks nice though.
