Cool beans. Also ive noticed another bug in the previous release, when you place alot of lights far away from each other *makes it easier to notice if they are far from each other* the farther away lights wont even appear to be on untill you get close enough to them. something like more than 5-6 the 7+light will turn on when you get close enough to them.

Thats a pretty big bug, and will it be fixed with tommorows release?

you mean Dynamic Lights?
That's a normal thing and not a bug - at 7+ Dyn. Lights some of the lights just turn off on my machine (even in FPSC 1.04 - w/o efx)

some users say after a FPSC-Reinstall it works... what version do you use? (FPSC)

Your machines are High-Spec, and I dunno about Bloodeath, but alot of peoples PCs here would be considered "low-end".....

Considering the average FPSC user had to ask their mum to buy it for them, and they can't get a Paypal yet, I'd say the chances are that there's alot of people out there who'll be complaining that EFX is slow, when it's their PCs.....

Hey Nighthawk, I'm not trying to steal your work to put in a project if that's what your thinking. 508 is a game I've been working on. And I'm going to need your email to ask some things and work something.

Email me at astekgames@hotmail.com and tell me who you are in your

Hey, EFX works with the v108 beta! Everything runs smooth, no conflicts. The only error is that there are no headshots . I was very surprised. System specs:

Um...duh, there are no headshots, because you replaced the FPSC Game of 108 with EFX. lol.

I know. The headshots have to be recognized by the FPSGame, not just by the editor. If only they worked...a boy's dream.

Uhh, you are both wrong. In the "appear" thing you have to enter the "appearwithheadshot" script.

Best.

Um...wow, you think I tried that already, The Toasty? I'm saying it's not possible with different FPSGame files.

@Dude:
My FPS is even better than before, it's even too fast for the reload animations, it delays the sounds because my FPS is at 36. I do have a super computer, my specs are a couple posts up, though.

@The Toasty
I'm not, because initially the headshot script would only work with the FPSC Game.exe of 108.

You seem to have a better processor than me

Yours should run fine, you have some good specs from what I've seen. Maybe it...differs from computer to computer? I dunno, you should be able to run it well.

Aaaaanywho....

I think it'd be kinda hard to steal something that's being released for "free", Nighthawk. Or is there some kinda catch that comes with using efxMod?

i think some people can misunderstand those posts

ASTEK meant he uses the non-commercial efxMod for a commercial project - can that even be called 'stealing'?

Anyways, let's go back to topic.

I'm working on the 1.49 Update Release - it's finished and now i'll introduce you to the changes i made.

So, what's new?

Bloom Autofocus - Did you notice that eye-adaption thingy in Games like HL² when you go out of a dark area into a bright one?
Multi-Pass Bloom - You can choose between 2, 4 and 8 Blur Passes for producing a better Bloom Effect (i recommend 4 Passes)
Better Performance with the efxMod Customizer opened - up to 5 FPS more
Better overall performance when changing the Water Res - Change the Water Res to 256, 512 or 1024 - depending on the Image Quality or the performance you want (5-10 FPS more possible - depending on Machine)
New Script commands - for adjusting the new values like Focus Speed via Scripts
Lightning Data is automatically passed to the Shaders - so the Relief Mapping Shader doesn't over-lighten the Entities.

Parallax and Normalmapping Routines are existing - but the Shaders and the final P&N implementation comes in 1.5

Anything else?

I could not fix the Door & Globalscript Bugs for this release - i had not so much time to work on it - so the most important Bugs were fixed (Door & Globalscript are not part of that)
The Doors of Modelpack 3 work fine, most of the doors, too (when using more than 3 doors)
The FPS Rate is also capped at ca. 37-38 because of major bugs of the Timerbased System. Will be fixed in 1.5.

And that's all?

No, i also made the Help Files Online-Based.

And that's, finally, everything?

Ummm... yes.

But i thought you would add/fix...?

Maybe you should read the whole thread again... okay, just joking.

The update should be available in the next hour. The efxMod Service Update comes first, then the efxMod Update itself.

Have fun!

And, btw. here a screenshot of the actual efxMod Customizer.

v1.5 will bring a complete new version of it. I promise it.

[b]To all efxMod Users[b]

There is a bug in the Updater Routine of the efxMod Service.
You have to deinstall und re-install the efxMod by running the efxMod Loader again.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

After that, you will be able to update the normal way.
It's happening when trying to update the efxMod Service.

Btw. Update is online!

Nope, you have to do that with scripts (e.g. put the values into the GlobalScripts)

the Profile Management comes in v1.5 like i said before - then it's possible very easily

Ok, my efxMod updater crashed... I uninstalled and reinstalled the mod first(Like you said). And then I tried updating it and the updating program crashed.

Could you make it possible to have an additional exe(For those whose service thing doesn't work) like how TGC does it? With you download an exe setup with the update inside? 1.07(Get it)?

Sweet, my update went smoothly....

@Nighthawk

Would you recommend turning the water res to 256 to save frame rate?
I'd hide it at the bottom of the map or somewhere no-one would see it....

jup, you can to that and i also recommend it

if you want to use water on low-spec machines and if you want it to look not bad, then set it to 512

in v1.5 it's also possible to turn Bloom or Water completely off - so it consumes absolutely no performance.
Mid-March, as i said... hopefully... .... *jokingly*
I think i can manage it.

Only the values are resetted to the default ones - you can avoid that by simply defining the values with scripts (e.g. into the Globalscript)
in v1.5+ there will be Profile Management

That means you can save the settings you made in the Customizer and load them anytime you want.
I also thought about the automatical save of the last values used.

Nope

you have to right-click on the efxMod Service Icon in the Taskbar (if it's running) -> Configuration -> Then you see the greyed-out "Water Resolution" and three Numbers under it: 256, 512 and 1024

256 = Low // for Low-End PCs
512 = Med // for Mid-End PCs
1024 = High // for Mid-End and High-End PCs

depends on your system

a mid-end system can be a PC with a HD2600 or even higher/lower (the graphic card is the most important thing when using efxMod)
i expect 25-35 FPS - Water Res 512
