I wrote that i analysed the bug but i could't fix it in this release, i need more time

the Doors from MP 3 work fine for me

and the doors work, by the way, but there's a strange bug...
try the following:

open the door (the door which isn't working), 'open' it and go to the other side (you have to create a map where you can walk around the door)

Yeah amazing work Nighthawk

This mod seems to have the momentum of a freight train.

I definately agree with Orrion Carn there should be a downloadable executable for the latest version. It's fine to use the installer tool primarily but there needs to be a stand alone executable aswell.

I think this has overtaken Lemur v2 now for visual effects which is pretty crazy as yours is free. Congratulations on getting the mod updates out there so quickly, I think you've got TGC's and Lemur's number there too.

In reference to Aaagreen's wall bug, this is not an issue with your coding, Nighthawk... which may or may not bring ease to your mind.

I've emailed Lee about this after I deduced the problem to the portal system he has implemented. He said that it was an issue that he too had run into with FPSCX10 Water, and he had to do some massive re-coding of FPSC in order to get working correctly.

I wish you luck with this, you'll need it.

As for the doors... dude, I told you before that Bloom was causing it, so I guess you never figured out where exactly it messed them up.

@Nomad Soul:

Considering that you're not a beta tester for Lemur and have not witnessed it's potential, you shouldn't use those words just yet.

All in all, Nighthawk, you're doing a great job, it just seems to me that you need to find some more various beta testers. Perhaps some with low and mid-end computers would do the job.

Or you could do like I do, and develop this on a mid-end computer so that you can catch the bugs before they show up in beta testing.

I heard of so much problems with the new version - and many bugs

so here is the old 1.48 for anyone who has extreme problems with the 1.49

http://www.helixsoftware.eu/efx/efxmod.zip

Please disable the efxMod Service (simply uncheck the Update thingy)

i'm not sure... 1.5 will fix most of the bugs

and this is the main reason for the push... we're pushing 1.5 to late march to ensure a better product quality

Hey,

I opened my FPSC folder, and AVG yelled at me because there was a trojan virus in "efxmod.exe" or something like that...

What gives? How can I trust that it's safe?

the efxmod.exe and efxext.exe are written in AHK, it's a scripting language which uses UPX 3.0 for Compression

some (free or bad) virus scanners detect it as a virus/trojan because most malware is also compressed with UPX

you can be sure - there is no malware in it (if it is not infected by a virus on your computer)

try scanning it with other AV Software

I found a trojan in efx, I did a scan and it pointed to the efx mod, perhaps it was just the updater thats in the program, im not sure, ill name the trojan when I finish later on.

http://www.virustotal.com

maybe try a scan there

as i said before - there is no trojan in it

every av scanner that says there's malware in it has just a very bad scanning engine

you also have to interpret the Names of the 'threats' - often they are results from heuristic scans

New version is full of bugs on me. Water relflections are flashing sometimes, weapon loading animations are fast, fps drops without reason and I have lot of errors in editor and in game. Even when I unistalled efx editor gives error Cannot find language file. Hope you fix those bugs in next relase.

the language file 'bug' is not a thing of the efxMod, just by the way

there are many problems with the loader - in most cases of extremely buggy efx installations it is causing the problems (by downloading not all the files needed)

as i said before, we're doing a complete recode for 1.5 - release expected late march or early april.

First thing: You have to run the loader with Admin rights

If that doesn't help, deactivate Antivirus / firewall software

and if that doesn't help, get the earlier version 1.48 here:

http://efx.helixsoftware.eu/efxmod.zip

don't forget to backup your old FPSC-Game.exe

Cant you just compile the latest Version into a zip like the earlier version 1.48?

I mean it's really cool to have an uploader and all but if it doesnt work for everyone its just lame..

Last question: what features do you miss with the earlier version 1.48 compared to the latest?

1.49 has too many major bugs (on some machines) - it is and will be only available with the loader

you can get the 1.48 with the Link to the ZIP File i posted earlier
and the 1.48 is the only version i recommend

v 1.5 will have a timer-based system, meaning your game will run fastly no matter how low the frame rate.

making the water plain smaller wouldn't speed up the gameplay/fps rate, already tested that

applying it only to one room or so is not possible without having some kind of interface (not a GUI or so ) for the ... 'conversation' between FPSC Mapeditor and the FPSC Game EXE

but there are Script Commands for adjusting the water height

so, my solution for having the water only in one room:

move the water plain when you exit/prior to entering a room to the height you need in the room

Entities/Segments which are out of sight are automatically hidden/not rendered, like the FPSC does normally

so if you have a real low performance (e.g. 2-5 FPS at the moment) it won't run much better anyways

Effects like Water, Bloom, Relief/Parallax/Normalmapping are the things used in actual top-title games
so if those games don't run on you machine, then you shouldn't use the efxMod - it's as simple as that!

try running HL2 with the effects on the highest setting, standard res (e.g. 1024x768)
or try Lost Coast

if THAT runs at less than 60 or even at less than 40 FPS - then i can't do anything more for those computers

Remember, guys, this is a free piece of software. As such, you really don't have any room to be picky about how things run.

There's software, that costs a lot
There's software, that doesn't cost anything
There's software, that doesn't cost anything and is better than the software that costs

Free means not lesser quality - and Commercial doesn't mean it's better than the free piece of software

When the efxMod is out of Beta, we can talk again about that

until then: stop your posts in this thread with references to other mods.

I wasn't referencing another mod. It's the same deal with any type of freeware. Be it games, AV software, SDKs, etc. you CAN'T complain about the quality of the product if you haven't given anything to the person developing it.

Just because I'm a Lemur Developer doesn't mean that everything coming out of my posts has to do with Lemur.

Quote: "At least you can test your game with efx mod, you cant with lemur "

May wanna rethink that, because I can test my games with Lemur... in fact, I bet you could even test games with Lemur Free. Go for it, it won't bite, I promise.

And before anybody starts thinking that I'm trying to promote Lemur in Nighthawk's thread:

efxMod is a great mod for FPSC. Go use it. <-- *two thumbs up*

The new version is great!!I get about 10 on frame rate and there is only one bugs i know:

1. When i walk/run the step are repeating really fast when i hold a gun

A feature you should add is:

1. in the editor (in test game when leveling water and everything) every time i click on the menu to change something the gun fires

An answer to your problem would be to merrily hit "0" (zero) as it unequips your weapon. Tada.

The source code to V108 is NOT officially released, or even UNofficially for that matter.

Even though the release of V108 is official, Lee has not given out the source code, and so, people cannot mod it.

Since Lee does not plan on stopping at V108 immediately, it wouldn't be very wise for him to release it's source, nor would it be wise for us to mod it even if he did, since things will change very quickly anyway.

do you mean you are using efxMod with 1.08? that's possible - only in some really rare cases it causes problems
but if you use efxMod with 1.08, you are just using the 1.08 Mapeditor with the 1.07 (mod) Engine

The application has failed to start because MFC71.DLL was not found.

Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Any ideas on what I did wrong? Thats when i try to test a game...
