Maybe they will get around to it in a month? You've got to be kidding......no wait, you aren't.
I look at this thread every once and a while and I have to wonder, why is it here? I mean, the project managers are always busy with something or are having issues, and very little ever gets done to actually help newbies to learn how to code. I understand life has it's issues, but how long has this been going on? A very lllooonnngg time.
Daygamer, don't get me wrong, I have a lot of respect for you. You are different than most newbies, in that, unless they see results quickly, they are history (where is lilwereboy anyway? he's likely gone, as noone was there to help him or include him in anything - actually, he posted a thread in the DBPro Newcomers section as this had turned him off). Daygamer has stuck by the stuff even when the project managers were nowhere to be found. So Daygamer, my hat is off to you.
How this DNG crowd ever made the TGC Newsletter is beyond me; obviously the editor wasn't looking real close at what is happening or perhaps he was running a little short on news that month. I was going to hand you guys some code and provide assistance in the past, but no one responded, yet I keep seeing coders coming and going. I don't get that; I know I am not part of DNG, but what does that matter really? I thought the idea is that new people get the help they need to learn how to become decent coders and to make some fun games along the way.
It seems to me that DNG ought to put up or shut up. Either help these guys code some stuff on a regular basis or request the thread be locked. You do a disservice to legitimate newbies that want to learn, as all you are showing them is that you cannot be faithful to what you have committed to do and you give them the false hope that someone is out there that will help them along the way.
I do realize that newbies can fall away anyway; even experienced coders sometimes do that. I feel strongly that if you declare yourself as a leader, then
be one and be faithful yourself, even when others are not. That's what leaders do.
