Bigsnake, you should edit the acronym out before you get slapped

OMGosh, your right. How awful. No wonder ragdoll has to be rated mature.

I tried it on the officer and it looked like it blew his teeth right out as well.

Quote: "I made all the stock characters lip-sync compatible. If there is enough interest, I may make a new model pack with more lip-sync compatible characters."

Yes, there is a definite interest.

I see you guys have the stuff in v117 Bond, and I was wondering if there are any instructions on how to use the new lip synch stuff in Beta3.

Quote: "Theres a convert program under the audiobank\darkvoices folder.
the converted files go into the audiobank\behaivors folder."

Ok, I guess that will get me started.

I have not had a chance to try out the betas yet, so I haven't seen the lip-syncing feature in action myself yet! Just some early pre-beta tests. So I don't know how everything works yet myself...

I'm guessing the ragdoll will need to be reworked a bit to account for the facial bones. They should move SOME, but not fly all over the place!

I'll be tryin it out soon enough I guess, but I just thought I might get a jump start with a demo or example.

This feature is an awesome thing, and I appreciate your efforts to make it all happen.
It may take awhile for everyone to get the hang of it, but I think it will be standard effects for most FPSC games of the future.

@CE. Scroll up some to see my 8 step instructions on how to create a new lipsync file using your own sound wav.

Addendum:

You can use the default greetings. Just put a talking character on the map and then walk up to him or her. Aiko has one.

Try the "thug" it is funny. Aiko might be Lee in falsetto.

I don't think the talking characters were meant to be shot or killed. At least in the beginning it was mainly for educational purposes.

The additional bones required to use lip sync probably haven't been accounted for in ragdoll yet. I would like to know how this would affect custom rigs and if there is particular bone naming for its use in both ragdoll and lip sync.

It works pretty well. The officer is a little toothy but having lip sync for such an inexpensive game maker is amazing. Also, one has to be careful of sounds that might have been recorded in the background when you create your talking sound wav. Also, special effects such as an ehco seems to make the lipsync a little off. However, if it is a short sentence from more of a distance it might not really show up too bad.

@Flatlander:

Thanks for the steps, Did that, but still cannot generate a lipsync file. Get a quick dos window that says: "Cannot create SAPI recognition context (ISpRecoContext)".

Im sure its something to do with my machine. The narrator can read things off my screen. so I will look into it some more.

Again Thanks

I think that you should be able to download FPSC free, and use your X10 activation code to access all features.

Nilloc, I think we need to wait for the actual update to be fully released, I think he will put it in the google code, allow for x10 serial keys to work.

Well, I wanted to push Beta 4 to it's limits, but I struggled to do so. I have taken two screenshots to show this. One of in game, showing the map I had made at 70+ frames a second, the other showing the map. It was quite a small map, but it had lots of entities. I used The Cosmic Prophets Country pack. The screenshot is attached.

Too much to do with too little time.

What I NEED in 1.17 is Co-Op D:.
L4D Style would be great as well.

That looks great Roxas! The trees are all the same though

Co-op would be a good feature, but I would rather them work on performance of the engine first tbh.

I was too lazy to place more than one kind of tree
Anyways, I added more to the map. I completely covered the map with grass, and added some lights. I got a top frame rate of 35, which is quite good, but I don't think most people are going to do that anyways.

Too much to do with too little time.

wow, you kind of can't see the poly count anymore. I would REALLY like to see how many polys are rendered automatically in the bottom of the screen unlike this new X10 HUD.

Perhaps if we get down on our knees and beg Lee to change it back, or make it show the numbers above the bars or something along those lines, he'll do it.

Hey, will we still be able to use our old mods without reverting some of the 1.17 changes?

I'm sure, considirng HockeyKid is working on v1.17 with Lee, there will be a new version of Project Blue fairly soon after v1.17 is released. Though, I would assume quite a few things would be taken out of PB.

I just try with metro theatre original map and:
1. Genereting obstacles takes so many times :-(
2. Problem with movie screen shader
3. Don't shoot Talking characters :-(
but
1. Ragdoll works perfect (characters only little and sometimes fall in the walls)
2. Framerate very nice (38 to 60 FPS)

and please upload new guide with new commands and samples scripts.
How to tune scale of sounds from entities (falling water)?

Insomnia is coming...

Set the character destroy script to destroy/ragdollcorpse

I think that was it, can't be sure without checking.

I have to say it kinda buggy sometimes, sometimes you may get the ragdoll physics kicking in but the model stays in it's death state, it may fall of ledges but doesn't flop around the enviornment.

@Monkey Mja

The mods themselves need to be integrated into the v117 source code and recompiled.

My mod will be.

Quote: "quite a few things would be taken out of PB."

Airmod will not be needed. That would probably be the only thing taken out I would assume. Hockeykid is the only one who can address this.

@RoxasXIII

Thanks for the test. Yes even 35 is a good FR. In the early days even 28 was considered acceptable for the low end.

OK, I finally was able to make the custom lipsync file with a custom audio file. I had to get the SDK from microsoft at:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/B/4/3/B4314928-7B71-4336-9DE7-6FA4CF00B7B3/SpeechSDK51.exe

No spaces in the wav file name to work also.

Here is a link to Veoh to see it.

Thanks Flatlander for the instructions on page 57 of this post.
