I have compiled some screens with the 1.17 and I must say I'm amazed.
Not only just because of the bloom and DoF but also with the steady 60 fps.
Good job Lee and Hockykid!

BTW,why are the pictures now in BMP file instead of JPG ?

I was getting a constant of 78 Frames a second. Quite a good improvement.

Too much to do with too little time.

I don't know why you're getting such low fps..PC Specs?

My framerate doesn't drop under 57.

I have a question though - aspectratio? how to set it .Am I allowed to write things like 4:3..?because I have a widescreen monitor on 1680x1050 , or ?

Before: 25-35 frames.

After: 40-50 frames.

(Intel Core 2 CPU, T7200 @ 2.00GHz, .98 GB of RAM, RADEON X1600, running Windows XP on Mac Bootcamp)

I ran at a constant 75 on the alpha... Downloading the beta now, can't wait

[Edit]: Downloaded... Seems to me that the physics of the ragdoll is what causes the most loss in frames per second. I had about 10 dead bodies with ragdoll in a medium-sized empty level and went from 75fps to around 30fps.

Last week I was running the V117 Demo supplied here fine.

Using this latest official BetaV117 version supplied by Lee I just get well known from the past - "cannot load object errors" before editor shut down.

This occurs either following compile in test run with some levels when the level will then not run or in other cases even when simply trying to open a level from disk so I get an immediate similar message and editor crash - then exit.

Thats with custom levels.

I tried the default Terrorstrike level and that opens, compiles and test runs OK.

When ever I get them type errors (which is a lot with v1.16 etc) I exit out of the editor and run the cleaner as normal. Then I jump back in and to a test build of the level with no lightmapping enabled.

The level normally builds fine then and will build fine with lightmapping on from then on (until the next error 105 anyway )

What I noticed is each time you test the game you have to reset the ambient and bloom light and everything. Is it caue im teting it in fpscfree?

Yeah mine isn't working either. Imma wait for full version, which will hopefully be up and working sometime this month. At first, my Norton started acting up over ONE tracking cookie. Just one. Deleted the map editor file rofl.

I am having a problem with the FPSC v1.17

I installed the latest beta from Lee's twitter, and when I open FPSC I get this error:

"Runtime Error 8204 - File is not open at line 5108"

Any help?

The v1.17 beta is fantastic but I can't get a Dark AI enemy to shoot me. I've assigned the AI start as 'appear-enemy-team2.fpi' and AI main as 'main-weapon.fpi' but ingame he patrols without attacking me.

Can anyone help?

For Vista and Win7 users, remember to switch of UAC and run as administrator. Any system configuration that prevents writes to the Program Files area will result in file and object errors. I have added some code to check for the ability to write files here, and will now produce an error message if that is the case. For lower spec machines, you can set POSTPROCESSING flag in SETUP.INI to zero to improve your performance. As FPSC is rated, we cannot make ragdoll a feature of an official update, but as the previous post showed, you can mod a script (at your own risk). I have two small pages of tweaks before I make the beta official, so armed with lots of tea and a little luck, expect the beta thread soon.

Make it mature. As far as I know without it, its teen. Or less violent. Same thing with FPSC x10. Mature patch activates the rag doll.

Yeah, as long as I have an ally in the map it works but would be nice if that wasn't a requirement.

By the way, this beta is REALLY good. You can tell how much work has gone into it. Everything is much smoother, the AI works great, ragdolls are realistic and I get a constant 60 frames per second with post processing and shaders enabled.

I couldn't have hoped for a better update than this and its only the 1st beta!

@ Nomad Soul.I had that problem,till I asigned an ally.Also increase the view angle of the enemy.Because he is always patroling he cant see you if hes at a 90 degree angle and his view angle is set to 50.

I might be wrong on this , but it should work..

I tried to build one of my old maps. It read that the build process has went over the 1.85GB virtual memory and told me to press cancel to stop the build. FPSC didn't crash after that. I guess my levels are too much for FPSC?

Computer Specs: Intel Core 2 Duo E7400 2.80GHz @ 1066Mhz FSB 3MB Cache, Dual Channel 8192MB DDR2 PC6400 800MHz RAM, XFX Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ 512MB, XFX 780i SLI Motherboard

Everything is workin well on my end with this beta. It's really pretty to say the least.

It runs ok too but since my PC's gettin older it isn't perfect.


Only complaint: Does anyone else's ragdoll not work half the time? I mean it seems delayed or something: like "after" the death animation occurs, the ragdoll activates? maybe its just me

Can someone post the AI team 2 appear script being used where they don't attack the player? It could be the factions are not correctly being set (or only being set in the ally appear) as opposed to a bug.

@Gorlocks suggestions - None of the current mods work with the new editor and such. They'll likely need to be updated to the 117 source when its available.

Hi Guys,
Just so you know the enemies not seeing the player when an ally is not in the level is not a bug. This is because factions weren't setup in the script. Use this script for the enemies appear script.

Ok thanks but I got it working by Repairing FPSC and turning of UAC and Running as Admin.

But is there a way to edit Bloom and the blur stuff?

hmmm that's so weird... Everytime I add superhealth it drops to 1 and doesn't move. I only reach about 14-25 fps... thats terrible but then again my computer is lagging a bit today. I will see tomorrow.

They never Were JPG format, was Fenix mod wich changed the format..

My specs:

OK without changing the post processing to 0 are you guys getting constant 60 fps..... i usually get 15 to 20 fps then again my pc is 3.1
