That would be great. Turns out more people than not might be able to host it, but if there's no servers up you can feel free to host it yourself. I just don't want to spread the limited number of players of all the servers.

To All: Did a lot today. Too much to write down. Still working.

Hey all,

Been working for the past couple days on packing and zipping up file securely. Also, I finally secured a domain name for the website (it's a long story), so now I can safely tell you that since about a month ago I registered a business license so that I can legally sell online, under the name IndiMasters. Working on creating a full site for www.indimasters.com

Progress continues.

Hey,

As I said in my other post, it's hard to work on this because college classes just started, but I still am!

Oh, FYI, all copyrights are now under the name IndiMasters. All content in this thread is (c) IndiMasters 2010. All rights reserved. Just thought I'd clear that up, because some pictures still say (c) Epsilon Zero 2010.

That said, here's a shot of the catapult test for the beta:

xD Soharix would have to have some customers first, before you can steal them.

Sorry for the lack of updates. Don't worry, we are still working! However, school has started so progress is slower than usual.

Here is a screenshot of what the 2nd map will look like (it's still a WIP):

Nice, reminds me of the beginning of Penumbra

You gonna add snow particles to that map?

More screenshots of the new map! Right now there are one or two small artifacts, but please ignore them. I figured out how to add light mapping and normal mapping to the detail mapping (this is done by using the blend mapping command only!). Enjoy!

I love that cliff on the first picture. Do you fall out of the map if you jump down there or is it more terrain there?

I'm having problems with the beta, whenever I try to join or host a game it loads, but then has a "cannot load image" error. Should I email you about it, or is it fine if I ask in this thread?

It's fine here.

That is such a strange error! A handful of about 3-4 people are getting it. I have no idea exactly what is causing it, so I'm unsure what to do to fix it.

Actually, sometimes it also has a "cannot load sound" file too...maybe it has something to do with the fact I installed it in a custom directory?

That error is so weird. I also installed mine to a custom directory, but it works. Some people get this error on and off. I'm baffled about it. :S

Quote: "Sam you make a key for me yet? Sent you a email."

So sorry man! I thought I had, but I had just sent you the download, and that was days ago. I feel dumb.

Quote: "Any videos of multiplayer gameplay up?"

I think I forgot to make those. :S

It seems that there are a lot of issues, one of them being my mistakes. I think I may need to take down the server 'till they are fixed. I guess I could leave it up, but either way, no one is hosting a server. I can't really blame anyone, because it's not their problem. RedFlames hosted a server, but I was hoping someone could keep it up for awhile. Maybe it's because people are getting that error, so they can't even open the game. I need to figure out what's going on.

Sorry everyone.

It sounds like you've run into some problems but don't get disheartened. This is shaping up to be an amazing project so please don't give up. There are teething problems in any enterprise, especially if you're running a game on several machines (which may result in some not being able to play for unforeseeable reasons) and then trying to link them all up. :S The world of multiplayer baffles me

Haha, thanks man, I appreciate the encouragement. Yeah, there are problems. Don't get the impression that I'm going to quit! I've invested money into this that will be lost if I do. Also, I really want to see it finished.

I'm hoping this weekend I kind find time to address the problems.

Terrain looks sweet. No obvious texture repetition or rubbish transitions, and there's overhangs.

Thanks! It took a lot of work to figure the new terrain system out. However, I still need to edit the mask to fix transitions between the detail textures in a few areas.

Got some serious stuff done. Added a map-selection screen for the host. In the future, adding maps will be a breeze. I also set up minimaps to work specifically for each map, so that the right image will appear for the right map. Finally, I added in in-game scoreboard, which will also soon provide a way to see the ping of other players.

Well, I'll see what I can do. Right now, the server isn't set up with a dedicated connection, so I don't want to keep it up too long or have too much traffic to it because Verizon might kill my internet. I'm planning on getting a dedicated line for the OpenFPS servers, but I'd say that my home connection will be fine for now. I'll probably be able to have it up for a month or two.

Ok, great.

RedFlames, Satchmo: Sorry for the delay in responding, guys! I'm not sure when to do the next beta. I'm still working on the game, I just have no idea how to fix that bug so I'm putting it off and doing other things. One of these days I'm going to fully investigate it, but it's a real baffler. :/

Yeah, right now there's no server. I guess I'll put up the next beta when thenerd gets his server up, if not sooner. The main server is still up so you can refresh the list, there's just no-one who will host it, plus people have that bug. ARG!

Sweet.

We may actually be able to do that soon. I'm trying something, but I won't know if it works until someone else tries it, since I don't get the bug. I've also added features to the game, such as a warmup mode, player indicator on the minimap, score table, timer-based shooting to make it fair, and of course all on the new map. I've also changed the way gathering is done. Workers at this time will not appear and walk back and forth. This is too problematic with castle gates, and slows does the FPS. Now you can fight for and build multiple mines that slowly stream in resources, making it much more manageable.

I'll let you all know when it's ready.

Sweet! Just added something to the server so that it will refresh (in the next update) servers and remove them from the list. If players join, the number of players will be reflected.

It's getting close!

Today I did a lot. Now, not only does the list refresh, but the server picks up the current map and player number. Also, when you connect as a client to a game server, it first connects and gets the map name before you load. Even though the main server updates this in the list, it could change in the time it takes for the server to get back to that particular server and update it, so this prevents glitches.
