How about you guys first try to join Red Flames server. He's now hosting it again, so we'll see what happens.

EDIT: He's getting it to work! It will be up right away.

Hmm, apparently he is having some sort of forwarding problem. I tried direct IP already. Maybe we should see if one of you guys can host? He had to go.

EDIT: Wait, hold on, maybe I got the wrong IP.

EDIT: Yes! It's a bug with my server list refresher. His IP is:

BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT. Make sure you refresh the list before manually connecting. Otherwise you will connect without retrieving your player name.

Hope you don't mind me posting it Red Flames. Anyone can get it when they refresh the list anyways.

Everyone connect!

I got into the game, but when I clicked the archery range to spawn I got "Runtime Error 301 - Sprite number must be greater than zero at line 6587".

Hmm, must have done something, cause the whole server crashed! We saw you joining. Hmm...there's no way to put the server up, 'till Red Flames gets back. Sorry people. Thanks for trying, though. We can test more with a lot of people later.

I downloaded the new version just now, and Norton 360 picked it up as a security risk....Might want to scan your PC, Uncle Sam

I hate Norton. If people in their "Community" haven't tried it an app out yet, it is auto-registered as a threat.

That was so fun but next time we should play the forest map..
But I didn't see that there and it seems that the map changed or something. Not sure what but it was very fun. Can't wait to play again!

Bugs
1. I am not sure if you are suppose to see a dot where you are on the mini map but It didn't move for the most part.

2. At the top left there was a tiny green button???

3. none of the players appeared on the list but were in the game.

4. The cloud effect was EXTREMELY fast!!

Suggestions
Make the text in black or some color because white didn't fit in very well.

It won't let me play

When I refresh the server list, nothing comes up, but when I then press i to add the IP address, the game freezes, and I have to Alt+F4 it.

Any suggestions?

yes this is because Red Flame is gone he has the server but hopefully he will be back. I am getting the same thing and it seems to be because the IP is not hosting anything at the moment.

Yes, but I don't even have the chance to enter the IP. It would make more sense if it happened after the IP input, but that's not the case...

I also had a cool idea for the loading screens.
As well as the tips/instructions, you could do a Total War-style load screen, and have some famous military related quotes taken from the various ages that are being depicted, and that kind of build upon the importance of the various tips. Like the one that says that you shouldn't punish your soldiers too quickly. For example:
"Good order and discipline in any army are to be depended upon more than courage alone." Niccolò Machiavelli

Others that could be added.
"Cry HAVOC! and let slip the dogs of war!" - William Shakespeare
"In this country we find it pays to shoot an admiral from time to time to encourage the others." - Voltaire

If the idea sounds good, I'd be happy to get some quotes together

Isn't the William one already in Rome Total War?
Some more:

To forward the pot do you have to use both or is it UDP?

You don't even need another player to host. You can run 2 copies of the game.

use both.

My server crashed while I was away, but I'll try to get it running 24/7 in the next few days.

Darn, I missed it! If I knew people were on the server, I would have saved the crash message, but I didn't think to check...

For your problem, I see that you've got a check box selected. Try to look at the top or bottom of the page, and there will be a Resolve button, which will save the modifications.

Wait, what the heck?
You guys played on my server, while I never actually hosted any game and was generally offline most of the time?!
I don't know which server that was, but i know it wasn't mine...

And i don't really have the time to host a server right now anyways; would be better if someone else does that (unless I can get my magic server working again... i must've misplaced it...)

Oh and i tried the fixed exe right now, after entering my key it "Could not find path at line 61"
Edit: Okay started it again, and worked without asking for the key again. Hosting LAN still gives the same error. (Object 2 at line 12277 or something like that)

I only have an Apply button. But it doesn't save my settings . And the checkbox says Enabled so I'm thinking you need to check that one.
EDIT: Come on, someone host a server. MUST PLAY.

Which ports do I need to open?
Because I created a rule on Norton 360 for port 3999 (copied from Eminent). It's TCP and UDP (whatever that is...)

Any ideas? Do I need to set the port thingy to Local or Remote?

Well, you won't be able to set it up from your computer, you have to go into your router settings to configure a port.

Also, sorry, but I can't host a server for a few hours, I don't have a dedicated computer running today. I'll get the server up later.

I can't do it from my computer?...that sucks. I'm in halls of residence, and I'm using a supplied broadband ethernet connection, so don't have access to the router. Can I not configure it through the Norton firewall?

No. Basically, what port forwarding does, is tell the router which computer is using a certain port. Since the data inputted does not include the destination computer's LAN address, the router has to be set up so that when data comes in to a certain port, it can then forward that data to the correct computer.

No, no, you can still play it, of course! you only need to set up the port forwarding if you want to host a game.... In half an hour I'll be able to run my server, if you need one to play on.

Bah. When I get home I'll see if I can fix that server list problem so that people can actually see the games. You'll have to enter it for now. Sorry everyone!

Just don't forget to refresh before you join! This is because when you refresh, it retrieves your player name. If you do not refresh, it will basically join without a name, possibly causing errors.

I'll also see what I can do about these newly discovered bugs. Hopefully soon we can do a huge, bug-free game!
