As long as it takes them to play through 3 levels.
This one only has 3 out of the 8 levels - the next will have 4 and so on until we've tested it all.

By being good coders and friends ^_^

They aren't going along for a free play, though - I've given them a massive list of criteria to check; it'll probably take them about a couple of hours...

... and then a new version will come out for them to do it all over again

That was not meant to be insulting or anything After reading it, it might have come off that way, implying you weren't or something... Not at all...

It was really also pot luck and who's avatars caught my eye at the time that decided the contents of my list..

Wha.. How did I go so long without see this? I'm downloading it...

EDIT:
Nice, I'm definetily keeping this one! Say, though, did you disable systemkeys? I keep pressing shift, and turning on stickykeys in the middle of a game. It'll then beep though the system speaker, which is a tad annnoying. Other than that, it's great!

How do you disable systemkeys? I'm already using Fastsync; so that's not it.

Thanks for the nice feedback; look out for the next demo!

Isn't it like Disable SystemKeys() or something like that. Do a search in the DBPro board there was a thread on it not too long ago.

unfortunatly disable system keys does not work in XP...it works fine in 98 though so its not a bad feature..however X forces system keys to active...its annoying, jazz runs in fullscreen exclusive now and if people use the system keys when they go back to the program it crashes.

He said it'd be out July 31st (correct me if I'm wrong)

One other suggestion:
In single player mode, when a character isn't selected, he seems kind of lifeless. Not selected, that player'll sit there and look so unchanging. Maybe you could make the unselected one face the current player.

It'd also be nice if the unselected one would automatically run away from the orange guys with guns, even though it ought to be common sense not to put an unselected one near enemies.

Just my ideas

I could do that, but the trouble is that would mean the other characters direction may have changed when you switch back, on account of them pointing at the player. This is not good, as it interferes with the players control over the game situation and can be frustrating.

I'll look into giving them some animations - how's that?

Nice idea; I've already thought of these two already though and the trouble is that the character should stay where the character put it - otherwise it can interfere with plans the player has. It would also be a pain to do as I'd have to add waypoints and artificial control to the characters. I'd say it's probably too late in the game to add this level of feature, as the engine is all but complete.

Nice ideas; I realise I shot them down in flames, but they're certainly interesting... Maybe in Dumbo and Cool 2, where a new engine will allow?

Quote: "If you need another beta tester i'd be willing to teh test."

I hate to say this, but I'm afraid I don't :-\ because I've got enough right now, but have no fear - an all new, playable demo, is on the way in July!

ALSO

Quote: "the orange guys with guns"

They are called 'Studes'. Pronounced 'St-oo-ds'. A little, lame piece of background for you...

Dumbo and Cool, as well as the purple guys you save are all 'Schmumps'. Now you know something new.

I've finished the audio to the introduction film for Dumbo and Cool; it's got music from Abe's Oddysee in it, but that's temporary. It tells the storyline of how Lecture, an owner of an evil factory captures all of Dumbo and Cool's friends in metal cages (turns them into slaves) to work in his oil rig...

How do you mean, 'rated', Young Programmer?

Hi Megaton,

I'd be glad if you knocked something together! If I sent you a bunch of text, screenshots, links, images and a font name to mess around with, could you throw something together?

I can pay you a very lame fee if you have PayPal.

Reply here please, my email is giving me problems at the moment.
Thanks in advance for the offer, I liked your portfolio but fear nothing there is quite in the cartoony, 'kids game' kind of style I would be looking for... The layouts are good, though.

Look foward to hearing from you in one way or another.

Yeah sure, I was planningto ask you that anyway.

Don't worry, if I offer to do it, means it's free.

Hmmm didn't really get you there. I was kinda thinking something bluish to match your characters. Anyway, you'll see it once I'm done. Send me the stuff.

That was the weirdest sh*t I've ever seen on the forums. Bizzare. O_O

I don't really think there's a need for PHP for a site like this. I also don't know PHP that well.

Meh.

Joy!

The Dumbo and Cool script has just been finalised, payed for, and recieved in full.

I eventually trimmed down the script before paying, so the full thing - Dumbo, Cool, enemy Studes and Lecture all came to just under £280 This includes cut scenes and ingame voices. Not bad!

Resources used, for those interested:

- MultimediaPros for Dumbo and Cool : http://www.multimediapros.com
- Chris Fries for Studes : http://cfries.interactivevoices.com/
- Mike Bossard for Lecture : http://www.mikebossard.com

^_^ Can't wait to see how they sound ingame.
