Note to world, that did not happen. I don't actually know what happened, sorry everyone. ^_^

ERSB? I don't know - I'm aiming for a small market here, so probably not - I'll give it a voluntary rating of 'family friendly'.

@ Megaton, I'm real sorry but you'll have to wait until tommorrow, I just didn't get round to it tonight as I was busy putting the voices that just arrived into the game.

Tommorrow.

I don't really think so; my total budget is:

Which brings my total budget to just over £360 - for an indie game, or any game, that's not that much really, and I did get a lot of voice acting for my money - over 10 minutes of samples, most of which you guys haven't seen yet.

I do hope to make it back though; if not, I only would've spent it on about two months supply of clothes, pizza hut and the cinema anyway. And if it does turn to freeware, I've at least made something I can be proud of ^_^

I've got something of a 'marketing' strategy prepared too, so it's not like I'm just going to release it and tell you guys about it, hoping it'll sell loads on these forums alone...

I may also do a German version, because most of my visitor emails are from Germans (there seems to be a big market there, and luckily, I speak good German : mein Deutsch ist sehr gut! )

Sie gutes Deutsches sprechen, aber können Sie in der Lagesind, irgendwelche deutschen Sprachschauspieler zu finden? (ich bin von ihr sicher, aber ich bin gerechte Prüfung aus meinem Deutschen)

[Not sure if that makes any sense]

Despite the fact you didn't provide me with anything Drew, I got some kind of design & layout coughed up already. I am currently finalizing the navigation and wanted to get the links from you (e.g Home, downloads, screens etc) If you're too lazy I can make up my own. I've grown quite efficiant at that.

Also some screen grabs would be great.

I also made a small text-logo and it ended up looking like a saturday morning cartoon logo. Where you aiming for a cartoony look with this game? Because I can change it no problem if you want.

Sorry, something big came up yesterday.

The navigation? >>

If you could get onto me via this email: formegaton@ddrw.com please, as this should now work fine.

No problem, I'm guilty of that too. Sometimes you read a thread and everythings already been said ^_^

I hope you do buy the game; if you enjoyed the (now quite out of date) demo, you'll really enjoy the full game

Good luck with Jazz helpouts and your artwork projects.
Hope your computer has recovered from it's fire?

Stay tuned.

I actually downloaded the first game earlier today, and I must say, it was rather fun, if a little difficult at parts (those disappearing blocks caused some havock) but alls well that ends well as they say. You've sure improved the project since the old days though.

Yeah, I've been told it is notoriously difficult. Did you know about the quicksave feature? Press Q at any point to quicksave.

Thanks!
Maybe I should get back to work on it!!

UPDATE

Okay everyone, here it is; as the game is very nearly done, I'll tell you exactly what it'll feature.

6 main story levels and a tutorial level.

12 VR themed 'puzzle' levels against the clock.

3-4 minutes of cutscene all voice acted.

All new features that were not seen in the demo, including Quicksave, (the ability to save anywhere, anytime) a map view, all new player animations and idle banter, new voice samples and completely overhauled enemies that now talk to each other and slack off patrol duty.

Options galore! You can finally change the draw distance, you can change the tightness of controls if you are a new player! (Tighter = easier to control, but camera movement feels clunkier)

And a celebrity guest appearance from a little-known ball of tar called 'Gish' has been finalised.

And the lovely Katie Holmes has agreed to help promote the game by counting down every day until launch!
Work is being done, every day, all day on the game!

Katie Holmes and I agree, it should be an exciting couple of weeks!

That's cool, I was just on the IRC and saw a friendly face, I don't have anything specific to chat about!
I don't really use MSN or Yahoo or anything like that to be honest, as I waste enough time on these forums as it is

Quote: "How are you selling the game, Drew?"

By myself, through PayLoadz (basically PayPal - give it a Google) on my own website (http://www.drewsgames.com) and through (http://www.dumboandcool.com) which I've yet to buy.

It will cost $9.99, as it's not the longest of games
(It took my friend just two and a quarter hours to complete it, 100%) but I hope that what is there is fun! I'm adding longevity now by adding secrets etc... and mini games to unlock.

Large, indulging update

Okay, as part of my OTT pre-launch hype, I'm going to be posting progress from the game every week. That includes screenshots, videos and sound files. This weeks update is a look at concept art and the game world from above.

The concept image I used to show my modeller what Studes looked like. They hate their jobs, which is why he looks sad.

Level 1, big overhead shot!

Level 2, big overhead shots!

Level 3, big overhead shots!

And... a map of the game! (Minus the last two Oil Rig levels as they are secret) Red arrows show the progression of the player through the game world; and incase anybody asks how Dumbo & Cool actually make the journeys indicated by the red arrows - they teleport. The coins they collect let them teleport to the next level. It's the law.

Also, the levels are to scale and exactly as they are in game, so this may be good if you are ever stuck in game.

Hee hee! You wish!

If you remeber my comment from the last page (for those of you who don't which is probably everyone! it was something along the lines of not being able to choose between buying Sudeki or D+C) I deided I'll buy Dumbo and Cool first and then try and get some cash togeter for Sudeki. This is quite a major accheivement on Drew's part because I've been wanting Sudeki since July last year!

How much does Sudeki cost?
Dumbo & Cool costs a little over £4.65 ($9.99), Is Sudeki a commercially priced game?

Thanks for the nice stuff said, Andrew

Also, we are going for a pizza.
