Hmm jules, I want to say great job adding the shader to the segments it looks cool, I have no idea why the left isn't dark, did you make sure your light was not big?

it was the same light for both rooms... here my .fpe text file, maybe someone can find the failure there:

@jules

Your Spec map looks fine... its not the texture itself that is the issue.... It is the Alpha Channel of your texture that is causing it to appear bright in darkly lit area..

If upload the _S texture in a zip file I can correct the Alpha channel for you.. But if you are going to making more segments on a regular bases you need to learn how to work with alpha channel editting...

hi Squalker. It is very very nice from you to correct my texture, but i need 257 segments ^^ can you please show me how to do the alpha channel thing right. Can you make me a little tutorlial please? and another question, which program can i use to convert the jpg to .dds file? i will be sooooo happy if you help me =) thank you!

i had this trouble and it was as already stated the spec is too bright or the alpha channel not set correct. or im not sure if in the fpe of the segment you have to name them d,d2,n,s

i know the actual maps themselves have to be named

also jpg to png dds etc can be converted in paint.net very easily. and paint.net is free. with gimp you have to go through a mad treasure hunt to get the dll for the dds. so i suggest do it with paint.net.

I have nickydudes tutorial about this with Photo shop and gimp(crazy bump as well.) If I can post it I will. It show you the whole process and very well written.. And in the part of the segment script(.fps)

If you are using gimp it starters on page .29
IF In Photo Shop its on page .8

Download this tutorial that NomadSoul made a longtime ago... It explains everything you need to know about setting up texture for segments and entities.... including how to work with alpha channels in Gimp and photoshop... As well as using CrazyBump...

Parachute is easy. Just make trigger zones to have lower gravity, so then you'll fall at a slow speed.

Yes, however it isn't any exciting news really.

I have been working a lot more on the secret feature than 1.0.4, but I had still been trying to work on it. Unfortunately, I have simply been encountering too many problems with Airmod, so I scrapped the integration of that, and instead of a larger 1.0.4, I am moving my focus to the secret feature. This does not mean that I won't release an update. I have finally found what Daniel changed in the source, and I have changed that back to what it should be, and redone the map size the way that it should have been done. Along with a bigger map size, you will see at least flashlight capabilities, and I plan on getting a variable system in to the next release also. As for when it will be released, I can promise that I will have it updated officially, by the end of next week depending on how much else I decide to add in.

an extra bit of stuff.

we are keeping up with x9 in our own way.
. the particle system, we have had particles for a while and due to what squalker showed us in his/hers images big thanks to you. ( maybe not as advanced but it works and all i need is fog and low mist.)so we are there really.


. we can handle more entities and deal with fps easy.

. through that we have a larger area than x9 and can deal with it (soon)

. and flashlights and variables
. and soon a secret thing
. money and banking etc.
. ip ready
. better shaders or in my opinion anyway

@ budokaiman only a wish list pf maybes and ideas


hoping after the big thingy comes out we may get.....

one question with particle fog, can you change its colour?(would be awesome if you can)

game controller (rumble etc)
some good ai extras ( for making rain or something and more enemy stuff )
sky movement or lighting and darkening of sky boxes.
changable particle colours
animated lights etc.

anyway im happy with what i already have and looking major forward to the end of the week

If you mean, what I am still referring to as, the secret feature, I will fill you guys in on that as soon as The Next and I agree that it is in a good condition to start hyping up more.

As for 1.0.4, that is just in final testing phase right now, just want to make sure that all of the bugs are out before I upload it.

which i am glad to say is almost upon us. and thank goodness you replied as le shorte almost had me in tears, but i know he thought i was talking of the secret thingy-ma-jig

so in baited breath i await the release which almost co-incides with x9s water release.

Sorry i haven't been around everyone I've had some personal issues to attend to and they have sort of consumed my life the past few weeks. I will start working my way back into the community very soon and will be active with Mystic Mod and the Specs thread as normal.

A little information. I am still getting that weird crash. I'll upload a video of it tomorrow (as I don't have access to X10 right now) to see if anyone has any ideas on what the problem is (and partially to prove that I actually have been working on it, at this point, I wouldn't blame anyone for disbelieving that I have been. I really want to get this update out to you guys, I apologize for teh increadibly long wait).

maybe put up the new version and see if we can create that error? and if you get no feedback as in errors then it is your machine somehow creating the error only.
but if you do get lots of feedback from the x10 community and we all get the same bug then we could maybe collectively help you on your mission to perfection of x10 genius ( or at least come up with ideas or a work around).

but all in all we are behind you and are willing to help ( well i am ) and not wanting any credit just to help create the best mod ever.

It is an error resulting from the code, which I know will occur on others' computers.

I'm sure that if I browse through the code more, and hunt down exactly what variables I am looking for, I can fix the problem, but for now, here is a video of what is happening, so that you have some idea of what the problem is.

got ya, as in as soon as you try go into the new realm something goes and does ya. so do you think it is something to do with the secret that is doing it?. as it seems to of appeared off late and as le shorte said had no problems wonder if it is a later addition?

No, it isn't. I've managed to isolate it down to what array is causing it problems, so hopefully I can find out what bounds the array is exceeding fix that.

yep you wont get a secret out of them, i have tried got hints but not sure they are honest hints and so i will just guess and keep shtumm so i dont ruin it or sound like a crazed person with nothing to do.

Well, the area is still small, but the grid is HUGE. Once Budo fixes the problem, you'll be able to build levels on the scale of something near CoD1.

I'd love to have the area fixed by now. In the past two weeks, I've had about an hour to actually work on the mod, as I have been very busy. I got a little bit done, but then DBP was having compiling errors (at least it wasn't source code errors). I'll be working on the mod when I can, but for now I have a lot of other things to get done. It's too bad that I can't just pause real life and get the update done. Once I do get the map not crashing, I'll just upload it here as a public beta, to make sure that it works smoothly.

I hope there is a player reflection in waters, i'm fed up of looking down and seeing a black circle, it ruins the illusion of the game, im not suggesting full RPG elements, but a Optional Weapon Organising system like Deus Ex wouldn't be bad.
Still the mod is awesome, and i hope the new update improves it even more =D

could you upgrade the multiplayer so that you can have explosives and team deathmatch (like project blue), it just seems that mystic is very single player oriented while having the potential to be an amazing multiplayer mod, also maybe a class system but mainly the first two. sorry if this sounds like a complaint its more of a suggestion.

O and by the way im planning to get FPSC (either X9 or X10) for Christmas and the way it looks I'll be getting X9 with project blue when i really want X10 with an upgraded Mystic.

Don't worry, it read only positively. I'll only say that anything is possible, and that adding in what you have suggested isn't entirely unlikely to happen.
