Nothing special, just some good textures. I bet you can guess what part of Half-Life 2 I was playing today.

Oh, Paul and I are trying to get Half-Life 2 textures supported in the first release. These however, are my own.

Nice texturing Josh.

Thanks for the comments btw. Yes, I've been expirementing with different level design methods, and I'm currently developing a tile based system to create an RPG town with as little hassle and skill nessasary.

dugzilla: While I haden't tested this one in DBP yet, my maps usually get around 40-60 fps.

I tried to add a little bit of "curved" geometry to a CShop 4 map i was making for my fpsdemo...

the stuff is still made out of triangles... but looks cooler than the right-angle stuff...

details at http://www.etvig.com/istuff/fpsdemo/index.html

FXTC: i've been admiring your work since the early pages of this thread... low poly required for games, but the textures make em look much more complex and realistic...

great looking stuff...

Where did you get your textures? Some are very HL2, but others have details in them that are innappropriate for a texture, unless it is a racing game. For example, the balconies and details in some of them should be done with geometry, not the texture.

The dead grass shot is at a different scale than the others. The blades are far too large.

Here are some pictures of a dark dungeon I am working on for my game the Catacombs of Asyngral:

These textures from alex moody kick ass. I'm glad I signed up for the 3 month texture deal.

You can see my website here: http://www.revenantsoft.com

A couple of questions. Am I going to be able to import my maps from the current cshop to the 3d world studio? Thanks.

Making use of the FPSC WWII media. I remodeled the doorway to fit the program scale, and fixed the proportions a little, then made a double-doorway version you see here. I highly recommend buying FPSC EA, even if you have a preferred development system already. You can adjust the models to fit precisely in 3D World Studio by scaling them to (2.56, 2.56, 2.56).

I love it. I picked up an MC Escher book on clearance at Border's a few weeks ago. His stuff is amazing, and all hand-drawn, before computers.

I was actually thinking about making "Ascending and Descending" as an example map.

was also considering the release of "Ascending & Descending", but it's one of the most complicated to release. I've seen somewhere a guy that realized the model in 3D & was quite amazing, but he just told it was really hard.
The model I'm building has already took full 8 hours! & it's only 25% terminated!!

I've to say that Escher is one of my favourites artists & he really made some amazing drawings or paints. He was a genius...
Hope you'll show us "Ascending & descending" if you do it a day. I'm REALLY interested...

This stuff just doesn't work in 3d...the lighting/shadowing effect is not the same.

I think ascending and descending would work. You just have to skew the front wall a little so it isn't actually a 90 degree angle. Also, the trim that runs under the windows on the front wall is angled to make the front staircase look like it is still ascending.

My little map. All static mesh's and textures by me - but the temporary wall/floor textures aren't. I'm planning on creating textures for it this week, including a set of tracks going down the tunnel.

Requires the latest version of DivX (I think).

You can't read it in the video, so:

You don't really need shadow maps for those meshes. The reason they would be better as meshes is that you can give them smooth normals so they look curved, and they will get vertex-lit, which is faster.
