well been useing CShop for a day now (few hours in total), never used it before and this is what i came up with ....

nothing special , just a few hours work of BSP (not sure how to import "meshs" or even if its an option) so its pretty basic

everythings been cleaned and any unseen faces have been deleted.. although now that i did that .. i cant export it to "torque" .. so... i guess this is never gonna be ingame unless we find a way to export it without "pipeline" automaticaly deleteing practically all of my model :/

no textures yet just some random wall texture (dont see the point in making textures / details / going anyfurther with it see-ing though it wont export properly, so meh ^^

would of liked to added more detail, but being all BSP and not knowing how to import meshs (or even if thats an option) the engine had some problems with anything more "satisfying to the eye"so its all pretty much basic stuff ^^

anywho yea enough blabering, heres my VERY 1st thing in CShop

A few hours later and a bit of messing around, I get this result

Terrain made in geoscape, just have to fix it so the texture is not stretched on the terrain.

*EDIT* Heh I feel very stupid right now. just found out that the auto texture was not on for the ground....I will fix those shots right away!

Fixed

Amazing texture work, but seems a little devoid of... stuff. It needs more stuff, though, I think your working on that since it's just a test.

FXTC I saw the city textures as a texture pack a while back, considered buying it but wasn't sure they would look good enough. Any chance you can re-point me to where that particular texture pack was it looks good and I think with some detail brushes they could look really awesome.

Thanks in advance.

Just browsed this whole thread - really amazed by what people are doing in CShop! Just one question - are these screenshots from within Cshop, or are they after exporting to DBpro? The problem I have is that I make something that looks good in Cshop, but when exported into DBP it looks dull and blurry. Am I alone in this?

It looks dull and blurry because the resolution and ambient lighting needs to be adjusted. Then maps end up sharper then they are in Cshop.

Has anyone got any tips for how to make maps look best in DBP? ie which ghost effect to use, and ambient light and transparency settings etc.

HI!

All the screens of my work are taken from DBPro...

Settings I use to load the map:

Ghost object on ObjectNumber,1
(the 1 is taken to give the more realistic lights)

transparencies are set between 3 & 4 (PNG & JPG works better)

Generally I set the ambient light to 100 or sometimes to 0

Megaton Cat, although that map is mostly orthogonal, I see a strong improvement in your work. It looks like the brush geometry from a UT2004 map. This is important, because a map with a lot of meshes in it will still look weak unless there is strong underlying brush geometry.

The skirt/trim between the bottom of the walls and the floor is a very nice touch.
