there's no DarkLights Bug on the testers machines...
on my machine, too

i think it's a thing of your FPSC install...

you can use the efxMod without the efxMod Service, but you won't get updates automatically...

some testers said you should disable your av software for a moment and let the Loader install it

that means:

start the efxmodloader.exe again, Deinstall the Mod and install it again (with av disabled)

(i think it's a thing of AutoHotKey)

Yes it has them... since v1.1 i think...
(we were the first with that feature in FPSC X9)

What are your PC Specs?

If you have opened the efxMod Customizer GUI, this is possible

the efxMod uses a GUI Lib created by me (called "Arrax")
it is usable in all DBP Apps but it seems to have a performance loss, if used in masses... like in the efxMod

i got a stable Framerate of 37-38 (w/ efxMod - the syncrate is higher than the normal fpsc syncrate)
but with the Customizer opened... well... 22...

i think it's your graphics card...

you can use the efxMod with FPSC-capable Hardware, but it should be at least mid-class to use it without performance loss

it will be optimized the next time, so there will be a performance increase of ... let' say... 20% (at least)

Amazing. I'll be messing around with the water height setting for hours. question though:

Is there a way to save the preferences so you don't have to reset the water height/color each time you test?

And how do you build the game with the water in it?

I don't think so. I haven't seen it anywhere. But I think, it's fun to play with the sliders (almost 2 hours now ).

A Profile Management is coming very very soon

You can change things like the Waterheight or Color or everything else with scripts

look in your scriptbankefx dir
Use them with a triggerzone

maybe you have some kind of "Fn" Key or Alternative Key Trigger

maybe try pressing all the surrounding keys...

... good idea

*writes it on a big piece of paper*
*hangs it over the bed*
*takes a flashlight, turns it on and adjusts it to shine on the paper*

Will be changable with the efxMod Service

just a question: did the installation work without problems?
i'm asking because in the german community, there are a few problems with the loader...

xplosys, it seems to work with 1.08...

we've got 5 testers with 1.08 and everything works fine

the screenshots on top of the page are all made in 1.08...

btw. the Loader automatically makes a backup, just to make sure

I'm really sorry guys, I'm quite a newb at this. I installed it and the ran PFS Creator and put a few dynamic objects and static lights in a map and when I test play I see wierd things like close up images of the objects i put into the game. I also see the skybox in front of everything. It's very strange. I'm really sorry but can someone help me?

Looks great. One suggestion though, could you make it so we can have more detailed skyboxes? a 512 texture per face is rather limiting.

Oh, and I get an error saying it can't find the help files. So I have no idea how to use this.

what FPSC Version do you use?
was there any error?

it's 95% not the efxMod, i'm sure

a user of the german community had a similar problem (i mean the skybox thingy)... i don't know what the solution was... can't remember

sometimes the skybox becomes visible in the reflection - a known and soon-to-be-fixed bug

what do you mean by more detailed skyboxes and 512 texture per face?
in german i would say, that's "Quark"
you mean 512x512 px Texture on one object?

you can bypass that by adding -1 in the Reduce Texture line

you may have to redownload it (and deinstall it prior to that)
you should disable Firewalls/Antivirus software during that period, they seem to block the complete loader

no, the 6 images for a skybox can only be 512x512 pixels, and removing this limit (if possible) would mean we can make more detailed skyboxes.

for me, Skyboxes are 1024x1024 images with 6 256x256 smaller images for each side of the cube

(hmm seems to i never noticed that... )

Nighthawk,

I restored from backup (which was V1.07) and tried again:

- The install works fine... no issues.
- Frame rate on levels that normally run 32FPS ran at 21FPS. Quite a drop.
- Water and bloom look beautiful, and the console works well.
- In many places, walls - ceilings - floors become transparent and the skybox shows through.
- Some dynamic objects (doors) failed. I had the same problem when updating to V1.08 and had to remove and replace them to fix it.
- Uninstall seems to remove files Ok, but FPSC will not run after. "Image file missing". Had to reinstall V1.08 update to repair.

SPECS: Athlon64 4200 Dual Core, 3GB DDR400, nVidia 8600GT w/512MB, Windows XP Pro.

Best.

hmm strange

the uninstall just removes the efxMod EXE and moves the old one from the backup folder back to the main one
maybe it's the efxlog.txt file... the backup system uses it for restoring the right file (timestamped)

thanks for the report

Whenever I switch weapons, comes up with a runtime error and crashes the testgame:

Other things:

-white edges round any decals
-dynamic entities don't really play ball (slow, and animations don't play at the right times, ie death animation sometimes won't work).

Apart from that, it looks awesome. The bloom is amazing, can't wait to try out the relief shader on my panelled walls.

I upgraded from 1.06 to 1.08 beta 3, and that's what I'm currently running.

Could you define "Syncrate Management"? Is that a timing system? If so it looks like you proved me wrong

I don't mind friendly competition, makes competitors strive for more. If we raced alone we probably won't bother to get too far, would we?

Well, I certainly can't deny that it looks wonderful. Congradulations on your work.

@Nighthawk

Just have to say, I ran a test level on my FPSC and although everything was beautiful, my PC ran at 3fps......

I think you may need to add some frame saving functions into the engine.....

PC specs are:
Intel 2.9ghz single-core processor,
1024mb RAM, with 1.5GB paging,
Geforce 5200 Graphics card,

Yes, my computer was invented around the same time as fire, but it would still play at a higher FPS than with this....
