Thanks! The web guru of Phoenix Sentry is FastBurst. He may be more behind the scenes than I am, but his web programming is so far above my head that it's in the clouds.

Anyway, our company mission is to do whatever we can to help indie game developers sell their games.

Also this might be a litte off topic but... I want to use a song in a commercial game by System of a Down. To include it without getting in trouble would I just put it in credits that that was theirs or do I need their permission to use it?

That will be up to FastBurst. It will probably be like a subscription, but It may be a one-time thing.

Man you guys always seem to post in pairs right as I finish one post another pops up. I'm the king of double-posting today!

Anyway, you always have to get permission to use someone else's intellectual property. For our purposes, you would have to get it in writing.

Darn. They broke up and I don't know who to contact... but could I get another band locally to play the music and sing the song? Or would they burn me alive for that one too?

@ASTEK: Was this song recorded? You can contact the record label and inquire about paying the royalties for use even if the band has broken up. If another band records the song without permission, then they would be guilty of copyright infringement. If you know of this beforehand, then so would you be. Sorry.

I think you should. From what I've seen of Feardom, you are off to a good start using FPSC.

I think I may very well enter this competition. I have many ideas. Plus, I would rather enjoy having the publishing deal. You may not see much from me on the forums, but I am often here.

You know your code sucks when it does what you want before you know what you want.

Can you take an original texture from another game developer, resize down by 50%, flip horizontally and use it as your own media without getting permission from the author?

That's something we'll discuss. I won't decide on the brand because some people prefer nVidia, some don't. I'm open to suggested cards so I can do a comparison and create a list of cards that can be chosen.

@flashing snall: No. The winner will receive the cash prize via PayPal, but the card will be bought and drop-shipped to the winner.

I'm not sure if that logic is going to progress anyone anywhere, but the time allowed to create your game is more than sufficient to make an excellent game, and the chances are that the game you made a few months ago won't be as good as what you may be able to develop now.

Does it say anywhere that you have to choose? You get everything listed if you win.

They can't enter them if they pre-date the start of the contest. Read the rules again. However, if they re-create all the custom media, then they can enter it. It's a loophole, of course, but that's part of the game. The best wins.

And this is 100% sure, unlike some Nvidia competition winners who didn't get everything?

Of course it's 100% sure. The nVidia contest advertised a "complete development PC". We're not promising anything we can't deliver.

The total contest with a high-end graphics card will cost Phoenix Sentry around $700. No problem.

Now can someone make an ad for me? I figure the best way to get people into it, is to advertsise, you know what I'm saying?
