In the editor, if you look at the status bar in the bottom right, it will say "X:" and "Z:" - X is left/right, Z is up/down. Position your segment cursor at the furthest bottom right corner in your level, of all layers - as long as neither the X or the Z number exceed these, you're within the boundaries.

Or, as Underside says, count!

Are we being scored on our plot, or can a game with no actual plot still score as high as others?

Thanks.

"Plot" would have to be subjectively scored by each judge as it doesn't have a scoring category of its own. One of the objectives of the contest is to have a few levels that advance a story or drive the player in a logical direction.

You do not have to create a plot line for the contest, but if you do and if it adds to the fun and overall creativity in design, I'm sure the judges will take it into their final tally.

The winning entry will be offered an electronic publishing deal so it would be a good idea to have a full game in mind while designing your levels.

Ah, i cannot wait to judge this event. I just had a series of lucky events, i wont go into the details, but i've just ordered a quad core pc with an 8800...gts(shh). Helps with video editing, so i can play a game while rendering effects, which takes god long.

Anyway, i'd like to see a storyline in the games, and i back what darkfact said about the electronic publishing deal, where a storyline would be more suitable, and just so you all know, the storyline is my weakspot It can turn a mediocre game into a fantastic thriller, i love the deep intricate storylines, usually involving mystery, uncomprehensible in nature (ala Half life 2), well not that last part, but you get the point.

I should've posted mine, but I just had a series of unlucky events. Broke my arm, and Halo 3 came out.

I can only efficiently level design.

What?

I broke one.

I mean, I can still play, but I can't play as well as normal.

I still play with one hand at band practice though.

I just realised I've been so pre-occupied with this TGCPG thing that i've hardly been on FPSC since late June.

A few days before the deadline, I'll give out FTP instructions and a submission email address. You can upload it to our server or your own at that time.

Submissions may only be zipped because we have to check the file structure to make sure the rules were followed.

We will not release your game to the public without your prior written approval. At that time, it may be protected however you like.

Quote: "Are we allowed gameplay videos in our threads?"

Sure, I see no reason why not.

The contest is open to anyone on the planet with a valid copy of FPS Creator. Trial or Purchased

If you use proper optimization techniques, then your level should run fine. A well designed level in FPSC should run smoothly on a mid-range performance PC.

I am very aware of how a complex level effects performance in FPSC after making my entry for the nVidia compo. If your level lags on a computer because the computer is slow, I will know it.

I'll gather the PC specs from the judges and give you a minimum average so you can have an idea of what they are, though.
