Well I have decided I would like to enter, even though I believe I have absolutely no chance of winning. I have, what I think is a good idea. I just hope real life doesn't get too much in the way and I can give it my all...

Pretty much same here

Should be motivation though to put my act together and make some custom media.

@Pus In Boots: You're added to the list!

@Johny English: Could you re-phrase your question? I don't understand. Are you asking if you can post your progress thread in this thread? Or are you just asking to be on the list? Or is it something else. If you need to, email with your question in your native language or in Deutsch.

Excellent! I've added you to the list.

Quote: "I believe I have absolutely no chance of winning"

If everyone feels this way, then the playing field will be equal. Thanks for the give-it-a-go attitude guys. Remember that 75% of the points are based on creative level design and fun gameplay. Technically, even a pure stock media entry has a chance at winning.

Go ahead and sign me up, please. I will try to have a showcase thread up this weekend with the back story and some basic screenshots, just to motivate me. I'll update this post when I do. Unlike some others here, I am not a "Game Company", so I hope to be able to complete at least the minimum two levels in the allotted time. LOL

Thanks for the comp.

EDIT: Adding my showcase thread to this post.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Quote: "Concept:

The concept is for FPSC game developers to produce a unique mini-game consisting of 2 or 3 levels within the boundaries of a 15x15x5 map. There is no genre requirement, so you can make your mini-game SciFi, Horror, War, Surreal, etc. It's up to you. "

Okay here is my first question what if I got my game developed and it is in the 15x15x6 and layer 5 is only the roof area of the map with no way to get to that part of the layer. Does that work within the rules.

if this is kewl with you then ill enter Menge Towers. completly fpsc stock and tgc model packs only.

It must be no more than 15x15x5. That is, the player must only be able to walk/run in-game on no more than 5 levels in total. A level does not have to be 100 units in height. The top level could be 150 units tall, for example.

I'll wait for a response before I add you to the list.

So, CLiPs seems to be asking if you count the ceiling of the top floor as part of the 15x15x5. I am wondering the same thing myself. Also, I did post that I would like to be part of this comp.

You know your code sucks when it does what you want before you know what you want.

You're added to the list. Sorry I missed you.

The ceiling of the top floor (5th level) would be the floor of the 6th level. Geometry above this point can exist, but it must not be accessible to the player in any way.

The playable area must be 15x15x5. Extraneous geometry may exist beyond these boundaries for the purpose of "scenery" only.

Have I missed anyone else for the "list"?

For the judging categories, it says that custom media will count towards your score. Does this mean media created by that individual person, or media that isn't stock?

Media that is reported by the game developer to be original. A model from any media pack, whether sold by TGC or not, would NOT be considered custom since it is readily accessible by anyone.

So think of "custom" as "unique" if that helps clear it up for everyone.

Good question, Inspire.

Well my game starts on layer 4 you can play within the confines of the map up to layer 4....my layer 5 is only the roof and is not excessable. So I hope that fits within the rules...so it may seem (smiling)
If thats the case I would like to sumbit my game for the competition... Okay where do I submit it to or do I need to upload this to my web server (still smiling)

@Clips: Are you sure you want to submit now? You can, of course, but you have around 3 months left before the deadline. If you upload it to your server, send me a link.

Also, this is to all. You can start and finish your game on whatever layer you choose, it just may not be more than 5 layers high in total.

So if your lowest "level" (or floor or ground, etc.) of a map is on layer 5, then you may go up to layer 9.

oh wait a minute.... my game starts exactly on layer 0 you can play up til layer 4.... I do have the roof top on layer 5 not excessable to any game player but layer 5 was to cover the roof for layer 4

I hope this may work... and sure I can hold off that way I can see the others on what they did and see how I can improve... gonna be hard to improve on perfection though....j/k

also I set this game to an 8 player multiplayer... game map is good enough to work out a campaign level to it throw in a menu and whamo you can have the best of both... what would you advise. as far as work wouldnt be hardly anything on my part to put the other half together...

That should be fine.

Your submission cannot be a multiplayer game. It must be a minimum of 2 levels and a maximum of 4. However, If you were to win the contest, then we could publish it as one platform or both.

Yeah wondering that to, but let me emphasize.

Shaders... yeah some people don't know how to do so but they can make great games without shaders. And might I add since the program's shaders...well....suck is it still going to count?

It's a good thing I can script well, because when it comes to making custom media there is much to be desired

Hopefully I'll be able to wow you with nifty tricks rather than fancy lights

I'm the opposite of that. It's strange that I can do some programming, but scripting is a blur. I think it's that state:0 state:1 stuff. How do you do Conditional Branching?
