I have a small question Jon, if you were to normal map a character, would you normal map it before or after you make the texture? Just curious.

To allow you to see the effect of the texture, with the map, see if it looks intune with the actual model, thres no oddities when its done,

damm its hard to put it in words...

I think thats right, well thats what ive always thought just smarter/clearier in my head lol

Ah, ok. I thought it was easier to make the Normalmap after the texture. But I see your point, I have never thought of it that way!

Not entirely. If, you are great at cross-referencing then it will turn out the same as if you done it after.

Well it would be pretty easy to do it after as well wouldn't it? Just assign the texture map as a texture in Zbrush and then just sculpt off of that.

I have an idea for a weapon. It could be a flaming torch that can catch people one fire. I know that would be a hard one but it would be so cool! If you have to you could make it only for your characters. I would buy that for around 500 points.

Jon, that link model is, IMO, your best work. There is a real skill in selling that amount of polygons to a viewer and you have nailed it. Absolutely love it.

Hey Jon, do you have any tutorials or tips to get into modelling weapons?

I've been wanting to do it for years but never knew where to start.

The Weapons look like a modern type society say from now to anytime to the last 100 to 300 years back, has broken down and they are having to go back to older versions of weapons, its kind of post apocolyptic, I really like the angle you have taken on this.

@ panda games

i think thats outside FPSC's capabilities.

@ greenlig

thanks, i wanna do more colorful low poly characters when i get the time.

@ Kerrby

I'm afraid not, i definitely think starting with weapons is a good way to learn the basics of modeling as opposed to characters, i remember the first ever tutorial i followed for creating a pistol, and it kicked me off to start learning more. Unfortunately i cant remember the link or the person who made it, but i'm sure searching will bring a number of great results.

@ fallen one

hm, not seeing it, but thanks.

finished the animations for two more weapons, this pack could very well be ready by the end of this month:

I probably should have moved the halberd into the light more.

Sword animation:
Lifts the sword high and strikes down from above, then pulls over to the left and swings right.

Halberd animation:
Draws back and thrusts forward, then pulls back. (the 'metal rings' move from the force)

More soon!

2 more animated and in game:

these 2 weapons could use a little more contrast, so i will be editing the texture, and might remove the spikes from the flail (or make them smaller?) to make them a little more realistic, right now i can see more pain to the wielder than the victim when swinging that thing will also make it look a little different.

EDIT:

there we go, quick export

I tried making a video earlier, but it seems it wont record sound on my laptop, i remember making the beretta video on a different computer so i'm gonna send over the compiled game and do it on that one. Then i'll get a nice video preview up.

Hey,

Don't know how far down this is now, but i'm finally getting back to finalizing the content for last character pack, spent alot of time just making fun stuff, drawing etc, now its about time i get this stuff done for good. (although it still might be a while, as it clashes with other work)

First off, sorry to those whose emails didn't receive a reply, i tend to miss a lot but if you have any questions, shoot again and i'll try to answer them.

Quote: " W-O-W! How long does it take you to make this stuff?"

Varies, i wouldn't put a time on it.

The original post and list of items is a bit out of date, stuff has come up and down so the chars for the last pack are more or less these:

FPSC needs more Vikings to be honest:
