thanks for the nice comments people

@ airslide

thanks,

i also thought it would be a good idea to split it because some people may not want some content, for instance some might just be after medieval weaponry or may not need the building entities etc. as they may be making their levels from scratch etc.

progress on the female peasant high polygon model:

really proud of this sculpt so far, it seems with female characters you dont really go over the top with muscle structure and abstract bumps, its much more subtle, yet looks great.

She is a really good looking peasant. Which I don't have anything against. You might want to include some less eye candy or all the nobles will be kidnapping the girls and take them back to their castles.

I've never heard it called that before...sounds...well...nevermind.

Anyway, the female peasant seems to be coming along great. Keep up the good work!

Love the model and all Jon But to be completely honest her dress looks too fancy to be that of a peasant, she looks like she would be higher in the hierachy to me.

Orc looks good

ughhh, sorry you caught me there, i was thinking of peasant as a fancy word for 'civilian' , but now that you've said that, the obvious features of a peasant are much poorer, just gotta think of a more snappy name, hmm

townfolk? (lol)

(off topic)

by the way, dom war 3, 22 days, its on.

cant wait. (it'll be my first huge project of 2008, and im gonna try and go hell over the top this time)

on top of everything its so much bigger this year, it is going to be freaking EPIC!!!

TO WOR! (for the green and black once again, but I'd like to hear the themes first)

How about noble? (there like the posh rich people with lots of land) The model is looking nice, she looks almost done, can't wait until this pack is done. How much will each part of the pack cost? and when are you going to release that brilliant rifle you are now showcasing in signature? Good luck with the model pack.

Looks great Jon! Her upper arms seem a bit weird though...as if they sag and get narrower. Looks great, anyway.

nah, because i want the variations to show different class of folk, it might become clearer later on (for the main texture there will be nice silk patterns and what not, but other texture arrays may look like rags crudely sewn together

texture progress! (not really interesting, alot of it is blocked out colour and I'll be going into much more detail with the nice floral patterns .......im not gay.

corset thingy hasn't even been touched yet, just clarifying if things look a bit simple.

*almost forgot*

yeah i went with 'villager' as its simple, gets effective use and allows all classes of people

edit:

I'll also be adding a couple polygons of alpha channeled hair to the front soon, it should break up the 'blockiness', if any ones thinking of mentioning that

Quote: "How much will each part of the pack cost"

*if* TGC publish them then im guessing the same prices as the normal model packs, £11.99 each, which is still a bargain

i will release that gun eventually, I've still yet to animate it and finish the boring parts of the texture (parts nobody will EVER see, small crevices and cut off polygons. meh)

also need to make a new set of hands for it.

Dang, you could call that "done" and move on to the next one as far as I'm concerned, just maybe dirty up the upper body a bit more. Good luck with your dom war too.

She's looking very pretty but something about her lower lip. She looks like she's sticking it out or something. Maybe it will look right once you model the inside of the mouth if you plan to.

Otherwise it's great!

thanks for the nice comments.

getting there:

still alot to do under the waist though.

i also forgot to comment on tyrano man's awesome suggestion on making a Fletcher and naming him Jon, my god its pure genius! (and subliminal at the same time )

although i cant really think of any generic conventions for a Fletcher, besides... gloves?

thats another thing the labourer can work as too, a Fletcher so therefore I've managed to kill two birds with one stone by making two types of character in one that have a likeliness to my name/personality, a Fletcher and a drunk

heh, kidding im sober(ish)

they used Facegen for all the heads in oblivion, you can see the neck seams, pretty bad in some cases, but it beats having to model every single NPC head in the game. they were probably odd because they weren't 'naturally' sculpted by a person, but by a number, so in order to create noticeable variation they probably went a bit overboard with the multipliers for the facial features. thats my guess at least.

edit:

damn you Higgins and your post in between mine

yeah, nothing really stands out in a Fletcher, its just a generic worker in my opinion, just maybe with a thick leather vest, not really worth much a new character. But thanks for the effort in finding the reference Higgins

that first one looks like an gnome/elf whatever

Nice work, as always My only criticism is that the orc's stomach/thighs/calves look rather skinny! Now I know there are a plethora of different perceptions of orcs, I just always picture them as the more stocky, muscular type; similar to the upper body of your orc. Dunno, might just be me, but it feels as if the upper body is much more bulky than the lower body and he seems top heavy

Great work nevertheless, cant wait to see the woman when shes done!

perhaps a really fast sneaky pixie character that throws stones at you and steals your stuff if he gets close, perhaps if you hit him pickups fly out, like in golden axe, you hit the imps and they drop potions and magic.

thanks for the comments.

calling this final

@ Agent Dink

thanks for that crit, its was indeed very helpful, I've sorted the lip problem, and even nudged the inside end of the brow up for a more innocent look (in the last images, a slight down curve 'angry' was noticeable, i think its something to do with how i create the high poly )

@ ruccus

i may come back to that orc, thank you for the suggestion, i wanted to go for a very heavy gruntish upper body and smaller legs, but I'll see what i can do.

p.s) if anyone thinks the thumb is a bit too sausage like thats just due to an annoying smoothing issue at the start of the thumb joining to the index finger, i will sort this, but for now its hardly worth going back for.

i have more than enough time to work on another thing before the dominance war so expect a WIP shot of the Warg mount soon

its going to be more boar-like than wolf-like, as the fur would be a pain to get right and a real memory hog due to the transparency.

edit:

added it to first post in the characters section.

lol, cant help but notice how much more saturated the last 2 characters i created are in comparison with the assassin and guard.

only 7 i think, for about five minutes, i remember the guy with the spiky hair and huge sword, game story never got to me though.

it has intrigued me to try and make a 'badass fantasy styled sci-fi chick' for my portfolio and i may give it a shot later on as a personal project.

open the material editor ('M') and beside diffuse is a small square, click on it, choose 'bitmap' from the list, then browse for an image file. once selected, go back, hit 'show material in viewport' and then drag the material onto the selection.

if that doesn't help just check the manual/DVD or the Internet for the basics.
