Well, since this has turned into a full-out update fest (by accident), I guess I'll release the news that as of 5 minutes ago (plus time for playing around with it ):

I have completed everything I wanted to do with Water.

What does this mean? The following:

- You can now SWIM in the water... optionally.
- The following commands have been added to the scripting language:
.....-CONDITIONS
.....---PLRUNDERWATER=X (1 or 0)
.....---PLRHEAVY=X (1 or 0)
.....---WATERLEVELGREATER=X
.....---WATERLEVELLESS=X
.....-ACTIONS
.....---INCWATERLEVEL=X
.....---PLRHEAVY=X (1 or 0)

Okay, some of you are probably thinking right now "Well, what does it mean to be 'heavy'?" So I'll answer ahead of time and say that if the player is "heavy", then they will sink in the water instead of being able to swim. They will sink to the bottom and move much slower than they do on the surface. But as a benefit, while underwater, the player will be able to jump extra high!

Let me know everyone's thoughts on this. I eagerly await my C&C and provide you with the following picture that doesn't really SHOW me swimming but I'm rather high up in a room filled with water.

Yeah, I know, Aaron, it doesn't show much, but... I was underwater in that last shot so you won't see any pretty effects other than a blue tinted screen.

I promise you, though, it looks so much prettier in action.

First off, ZOMG! Second, have you thought about asking TGC to add this into V1.08, for a decent price of course? Third, are you actually making a CTF and TDM option? Can we see some more screenies of them in action? Forth, is there going to be an X10 version (For the MP features? And finally whats the price tag for this?
*SLayer_2
P.S. Will it be updated to run with new updates like V10.8 ect. So we can have Ragdoll and all the great new stuff as well as your mod?

You have S4 on your side! Wow, would GPU instancing be too much to ask? Also, what kind of PC's are you guys running?

This is wonderfull! I would even pay for this if I had to, 16 player arenagames, "real" water, 28 enemies. This is just great! Keep on, this will surely be something really big.

When you guys slow down on all the major updates (and I get my copy of DBP working with the source ) I have some weapon updates I'd like to do for you guys....proper shotgun reloading, modified rate of fire, decal-instead-of-explosion-flak, no-splash-damage-flak ect...all of which will be controllable in the gunspec/flakspec of course I already have the code for the shotgun (want to redo it though).

Ok update on the speed got the chars running at full speed even if your framerate goes down to like 12 fps.

See vid on wip.

This is running 50 chars with a slow down to 12 fps but chars still attacking at full 35fps

Jeez S4! What did all 50 of those thugs do to you? That looks really promising. Part of me wants to have this released now, but the other part wants you guys to take your time with it and make it the best mod that you can. Great job guys!

O... M... G... S4, can I marry you? This is my FPSC dream! The equivalent of Timer based FPS and GPU instancing in some weird mix. I mean wow. Now that I learned how to have more than one dude attack you at one this will be so helpful! You saved me hundreds in upgrades for X10! The water dropped you down to a nasty 10FPS though... Whats the price tag for this guys? I need to know.

Wow that looks nice! It looks like an animated plane too, because it fluctuates in the hallway. Very nicely done. Might have missed this, but can the water color be changed as well?

Well on my wimpy 7800GT 256mb maybe to 20FPS, but thats not as bad as ten. What is it usually at without the cursed fraps running? BTW you still haven't answered my questions yet...

I don't think S4 is interested in marriage over the internet(maybe he is but i'm not gettin the vibe) and the price of the mod is to be determined (probably around 20 usd) remember- it comes with a game, so it is the game you buy- and the mod is in the package.

I wasn't to serious about it anyhow Well, I'm sure your game is cool and all but we both know what most are truly after Are you going to update the mod, oops, the game as new TGC updates are released, especially with all the new features on their way?
*Slayer_2
P.S. So we are getting Airslides pump action mod too???? Sweet! I do hate the current shotguns in FPSC because of their awful reloading (except for the jackhammer). No explosive flak sounds cool. Adjustable explosion size would rock. Then you could make a TAC launcher in FPSC!

As of right now, no the color cannot be changed (Since it's clear, and thusly HAS no real color), but I will look into having it a little tinted optionally. I am not so sure about setting the color via scripting (Unless it were setting R, G, and B seperately) but I'm sure if I could get it colored to begin with, then it would definitally be set up in the setup.ini

The fresnel water shader in the ulitmate shader pack is pretty easy to color, and it looks quite good.

Timed speed test update :

60 Chars in one room running at 9fps as you see the speed even at 9fps is still good.

Not sure why in the world you would need 60 characters firing at you all at once, but it's amazing none the less.

Sweet stuff I assume you're using the timer code I sent you? I wish I remember who gave it to me, I'd give them a huge pat on the back for all the trouble it's saved me since.

I'd just like to clarify to everyone (after reading a post in feature requests) that a timer-based system does NOT make your frames per second count higher. It simply speeds things up when the framerate drops to account for the loss of loop cycles.

Also, I was thinking, perhaps you guys (I guess I should kinda be saying we since I suppose I'm helping you now, though I really need to get my act together first ) should split building and playing into two seperate executables? This would result in faster compiling times for the engine (in DBP), smaller executable size, and perhaps a performance boost. You could make FPSC-Game just a builder that calls a new exe to startup when it's done. Not sure how complicated that would be, but I can try and help.

Blah!!! Why does Urlforce keep getting credit for the water? Do you not see my name in the first water pic?

Quote: "What exactly do you mean, Airslide?"

He means that we take out all the building stuff from the executable and compile that to be JUST used as the .exe for after you've built your game, then make a seperate executable specifically designed for building/testing that will be used for the editor, and when you build a game with it, instead of copying itself into the built game's folder, it will copy the post-compile executable (which will be much smaller) instead.

Looks extremely nice, you have my money.

Are there physics on the objects in the water? If so, nice."

I was thinking of doing that, yes... but if it turns out that it'd take way too long to get done, you have my apologies.
