Do you know, why there's a file called "README.TXT" in the efxMod archive?
The name doesn't mean anything, it just advises you not to read this TXT, just to make sure, you have to ask in the forum, where people say you have to read the readme.
Anyways, confusing, isn't it?

We're actually having problems finishing it, caused by private problems
So, 1.6 is almost done, just the profile management and export function is missing to get at least the Core-1.6 Features

I think we'll release the other features via updates...

Maybe we can manage to release 1.6 in a week or so

I have almost finished all of my new custom media for my game, and I really love your mod, but I need to know how much it is going to cost me to license it for use. I can't see spending out a ton of money ahead of time for a game that may or may not sell, I can do without your mod, but it would be nice. Please let me know the cost!!!
I am also curious about how well this will work with my system, as the one listed with your signature murders mine.

Could you please make an installer, because for some reason, I know it's me, and my system specs are high, dual core, Geforce 7 series, I have more than I need, but I keep setting it up wrong... could you please make an installer for the classic version when you get some freetime, because the way this is built it may be able to mix with Lemur 2 Free, so this could make a high quality graphics, nice, and easy interface, cool multiplayer game.

This question has been answered many times before. Sorry, I won't answer.

Instead, here's something new.

efxMod 1.6 Codename Titan
The first official video

http://video.msn.com/video.aspx?vid=24dd4810-ae02-472d-96c0-59c281ca6d58

It's mostly german and there was so much stuff to translate, so we decided to upload it without subtitles.

efxMod 1.6 is going to be released very very soon

EDIT:

So, it's time.

http://efx.helixsoftware.eu

efxMod 1.6 Free Edition is out.

@Nighthawk:

Perhaps a FAQ section in your readme would save you the trouble of not wanting to answer but instead tell them to just read the readme.

In the FAQ you can answer most of these questions that people constantly ask.

Nighthawk

EFX mod really is a professional state of the art mod now. Congratulations on getting v1.6 out the door, I can't wait to install.

Just one thing. How do you setup a dynamic light to move as I didn't see this feature in the video and wondering how it works e.g. waypoint / script etc?

The only other thing I would love to have for this mod now is a decent normal mapping shader for segment surfaces. That would really complete the next gen visuals on offer.

Looking forward to checking out the improved dynamic shadows system too.

There are 2 scripts I believe that come with EFX, which allow the movement (horizontally and vertically) of lights. Dynamic ones, quite obviously.

Hope it helped obviously Nighthawk can explain it better.

Have you tried simply using the "move" script commands on the dynamic lights?

OMG! Nice man, I'm having a shot at programming paralax mapping also! It makes everything look awesome!!! I will so buy the full version (I asume there is a paid version coming out because this is called the free version)
EDIT: Having some problems, everything runs swell, fps at about 35 and everything. It meets all requirments and stuff, shaders, etc. But it still comes up with that graphics hardware thing is not good enough please push space to continue anyway. Which I have to do everytime, even though it works fine. And, the only sound I can hear is me jumping, all footsteps sound has gone...Weird?

Wow. My GFX card keeps randomly failing on me. It's an ATI Radeon X1300, lemme guess, it's not Shader 2.0, is it?

X1300 should be already Shadermodel 3.0

efxMod 1.6 has an integrated Hardware Compatibility Check - and the X1300 is not on the "Compatible" list
This list has to be updated, seems I forgot some X1xxx graphic cards... re-upping at the moment...

EDIT:
Updated, Re-Compiled and Re-upped
Current Version is now: 1.6.0-0140

For all users out there having problems with the Hardware Compatibility Check - please try this update.

Downloadable via the efxMod Homepage, as usual

Soon, you will be able to buy a commercial license. We're still planning every step we're doing in this direction, so it will take some time.

We've added a watermark to prevent users from using efxMod Free Edition for commercial projects - because we had some cases in the past of users trying to use efxMod (1.5) for their commercial projects without asking us

It's amazing how many people think that good things come without a price, isn't it, NH?

I understand the need for a watermark. If someone does sell the game, at least everyone playing it will know what they used to make it like that.

@Clock Works:

You also have the added benefit of using a real programming language, and not bound by someone else's engine.

Hey, why does it say that the 8400 isn't supported..? Its a good card, I play Crysis on it at medium/very high and I get around 30 FPS... which is good for $20 .

<on topic>

Thanks Nighthawk, i'm getting 112 FPS with water and bloom enabled. I can't wait for the refraction/reflection (for windows and glass) settings things or what ever its called.

I also have a Radeon X1300. I've downloaded the latest version of efx mod and it works fine, a little slower fps-wise but it looks great! However, I'm still getting the "incompatible hardware" message. In test mode, it's not a problem because I can hit the spacebar and continue. But when I've built a game and try to run it, I get the "incompatible hardware" message, I hit spacebar, and then ....the game won't start. Well, actually the game EXE is still running in the background, but it has taken control of my mouse, and there's no way to get to the game. I have to ctrl+alt+del and kill the running process.

Is there a way to put something in setup.ini that indicates I "automatically" accept the incompatible hardware warning but I want to continue anyway?

I'm running a computer with a Radeon X1300, Windows XP, 1 Gb Ram, Pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz. It's not top of the line by any stretch of the imagination, but it's worked well enough for FPS Creator...

Thanks! Best Regards

Wrong.

Switch through the windows in the taskbar by holding the Win-Key and pressing TAB - until the Game Window is highlighted. Then press Enter

Same effect with Alt + TAB
