Thanks! I saw that site on the pixologic site but the best tutorials are really expencive, Especially as i'm not making any money from 3D yet also, I wanted to buy a book so i could take it with me and learn on the go Well, I might get the 3rd one first then get the 1st some other time. I had a look inside (Using amazon's awesome feature) and it seems to cover alot of practical stuff where as the other seem more theory. I understand zbrush and what the tools do, I just don't know how to make a proper model. do you think that would be a good idea then?

well it really depends what you're looking for, the 3rd book would be my buy, i do highly recommend that you check the freebies section on gnomon first, there's a lot of good stuff there

anyway i decided to do some more anatomical studying to revise my modelling, tell me what you think, also its been about 1 - 2 hours of sculpting (20 mins just for the teeth )

thanks for the comments guys, reallly appreciate it

quik@

in the end i went for a blind/ dead look i thought a texture would slightly ruin that, and any reflective matcap in zbrush won't display a texture, at least in the basic materials pallette

azunaki@

thanks that exactly what i was going for

started another speed sculpt of an alien, done about an hours work on him, mabey and hour and 20, not sure, anyway tell me what you think

david@

thanks, appreciate it

heres an update, the texture for his has been a *cough* storm, i've broken it down to two final options and i'm not quite sure which to use, the matcap i've made is intended to look like a thin layer of translucent skin white a very high specular value, please let me know which one of these two textures you prefer, the first has him with blue-ish blookd the second has him with red blood/ muscles, feedback welcome
-

and heres the second

It's a shame you didn't work more on the eyes on your fat/dead/living dead/blind head. It looks unfinished. Even the blind have irises. Looks good but it could have been better.

Blue looks ok but you should try some other colors too. Maybe a Blue-Green or a Blue-Dark Purple.

Well, honestly I don't like the red one. So I would go for the blue one, or maybe add a bit of yellowish glow to the translucency, nah, I don't know to much about texturing but I really like the blue one.

Blue one caught me attention first. More realistic than the red one.

I do not like that visor, blocks WAY to much of the character itself

With that added visor, and maybe if you added a top head gaurd, it'd be like the space pirates from Metroid. Odd thought.

i too thought it covered to much of the face last night so i started some variations and came to this, i finished it about 20 mins ago and it took about 10 so its wip but now its time for zbrush detailing, also the materials are just place holders designed to show you how the models pieces are seperated, the loop around the front is also seperate from the base at the back, forgot to use a different texture, oh well, anyway lease tell me what you think, feedbacks the only way i'll improve

Holy awesomeness! Great work! I love the different proportions.

You should give it a cute, Big, Toy like alien head. Something like the alien's head from toy story

woah looks like one on my concept sketches. Looks great ^_^.

Ohh and out of curiosity what do you plan on doing after you've completed this guy?

I was wondering if i could borrow it and create a lowpoly bake for him. I dont know why but you hit all my motivation areas, reverse kneecaps, over sized balanced arms, low standing posture so many more areas. Its like eye candy lol.

That an i could probably rig + unwrap if you wanted to import to fpsc. Great way to get more intrest.

Sooo pretty please ^__^"

Really looking forward to the end product anyway

I found the sketch of mine it looked so much like ^_^

An thanks i didnt want to try my guy out till i had my new pc, i could give him alot of definition with all that power.

Ive rolled the keecaps more forward than yours, and created larger elbows, i had a more puffy, material like rounded three finger hand in mind. Ive attached mine anyway lol

Cant wait to see your design, an a chance to play with it

The wrists throw me off a little bit, but the rest is superb. I especially love the proportions of the arms and legs. The grin also makes him look very cunning. I'm not sure if he is good or evil, but if you lowered the middle of the brow, or raised the outside edges of his eyes, he would look very devious!

Do you plan on keeping him symmetrical? I really enjoyed the models you crafted with little differences on each side. It really adds character.

Good job, Mazz426! Keep it up!
