Congrats Jordi! You're a machine

I'll add your new games to the list later (decorating in a minute), well done!

On the music front I have confirmation that we can use music by "Desert Planet" for this project (the tune in oblitinator is one of theirs)!

I will email the full set of tracks available to anyone on request. Email me.

It would be great if we all used their stuff or something 8bit style for continuity. There are some free 8bit tracks available from incomtech by Kevin McLeod too that would be apt.

I'm currently working on a game show. I don't think that 8 bit music would suit it. But my next project after this one could have 8 bit style music.

Jordi, I've been messing around for a while and can't get the link to "Caňon Pirata 3D" to work on the first post. I think it's the special character. Does anyone know how to make the link work on the forums:

Here's how it works (or doesn't):
[href=http://www.appup.com/applications/applications-Cañon+Pirata+3D+App]Caňon Pirata 3D[/href]
http://www.appup.com/applications/applications-Cañon+Pirata+3D+App

I've temporarily used your website as a link...

I didn't think of tinyurl thanks Batvink. The strange thing is that the link no longer works and the App no longer shows up on the AppUp client!!

What's going on Jordi? It was there an hour ago

I've decided to continue the anniversary conversation here as it's more appropriate. I think, if it's allowed, we should make a "Party" thread in Geek Culture where we link back to hilarious conversations, share download stats and overall development progress (if you like), and possibly give out a few awards (e.g baxslash wins the ninja award) just for laughs.

Ooops, I've been thinking aloud again. Maybe we can just stick with the newsletter article.

Anyone wondering what Hodgey is talking about, it turns out it's nearly a year since I started this group. Anyone with any further ideas for an apt way to celebrate just post your ideas here!

I have suggested next month's newsletter article would be a good place to sum up our first year.

I like the idea of a party thread... care to do the honours Adam? I'll try to come up with some fun things to do. Maybe a 'mini' coding challenge?

Maybe we can ask The Slayer to make an anniversary banner?...and bring the beer and fries.

Hello guys,

Sorry for my delay.

The link of the game Cañon Pirata 3D is

http://www.appup.com/applications/applications-Ca%C3%B1on+Pirata+3D+App

Cañon Pirata 3D

This is the link I have on my website and it works well.

Edit: There could be a problem with appup itself, also it doesn't seem to like the ñ character.

Got it, you have to use HTML code like this:
Quote: "http://www.appup.com/applications/applications-CaÑon+Pirata+3D+App"

Caňon Pirata 3D

But who else lives in Belgium, land of best beer and fries? Not to worry, I have a plan. I'll make an app which will rise to no.1 on the app stores. From the profits I'll buy a jet that travels at supersonic speed. I'll fly over to Belgium, buy the fries and beer and give you a lift to ADG HQ. Sound like a plan?

With the banner, what if each person donates a small picture to go on the banner so it becomes a collage, a bit like the 100th newsletter image?

That's not a bad idea. Just wondering where to upload all those images? Make a seperate thread in Geek Culture perhaps?

To all App Developers: don't forget that there's a new sig/banner available that represents our group. The previous one was the one that says 'AppUp Developers Group'.
The new one is the one with 'App Developers Group', which can be found on the first page of this thread and/or on the first thread on the AppGameKit App Developers Group thread.

Do you have to install the Appup SDK when you use AppGameKit? And what is this certificate? Do I apply for the certificate now, or when I finish my project?

At the moment I think the only way to develop for AppUp using AppGameKit is in Tier 2 and I believe you would need to have the SDK installed for this. I haven't written any games C++ yet but there is plenty of info on how to use the AppUp SDK available from the AppUp Developer Program website.

Step 1 would be to join the Developer Program and get the SDK
Step 2 is to finish your game
Step 3 would be to get a code signing certificate although I'm not sure if the free one is available to new members. It would be good to know this before you get too far along actually so I would try for this as step 2!

Remember that if you are having trouble getting published TGC have offered to publish games for people on AppUp for a fee. It might be worth considering.

There aren't currently any commands in AppGameKit Basic for AppUp. I'm not sure if they plan on making it possible to create for AppUp in Basic.

I'm confused.. so why are there DBPro commands at the beginning of this thread? You can use DBPro but not AppGameKit?

And this...
Quote: "I haven't written any games C++ yet"

Makes it sound like you used Basic. So you used DBPro?

So why is the program made for Apps not working as well as DBPro?

I don't understand?

If I can write it in DBPro that would be even better.

You can do it with Tier 1 (I think, I haven't personally tried the method myself) using VS and AppUp SDK. Here's the guide

@The Slayer: Haha, I love the A-Team although I do prefer the old 1970s/80s ones.

Quote: "That's not a bad idea. Just wondering where to upload all those images? Make a seperate thread in Geek Culture perhaps?"

Good point. What if we completely copy the 100th TGC newsletter and use everyone's avatars?

Pincho Ninja'd me, oh will it ever end?
Quote: "I'm confused.. so why are there DBPro commands at the beginning of this thread?"

Well, we are on the DBPro board

Quote: "So why is the program made for Apps not working as well as DBPro?"

I think DBPro got a few modifications in order to make AppUp validation easier (and I use "easier" very loosely).

So I can write my Game in DBPro, that's great! Saved myself £70 as well. I was afraid to use the unprotected site to buy AppGameKit anyway, that's why I put it off.

Yes, all of my games on AppUp are written in DBPro.

If you find it easier and want to save the £70 then that's the way to go for sure!

As Hodgey said there's a full guide for developing AppUp games in DBPro in the first post

AGK will make it easier to write games for AppUp and multiple other platforms as time goes on but yeah, start with DBPro it's been tried and tested!

This thread is the original ADG thread started for DBPro users writing games for AppUp but we have a 'mirror' group in the AppGameKit forum mainly because we want to help people publish in AppGameKit too...

Shout if you need any further help!

Hi guys,

Nice job Jordi getting your game published! Well guys my trial has 2 more days until it's over. I'm trying to get the money so I can buy AGK. I'm thinking of making a old 2D Atlantis game but with updated graphics. It should look pretty cool.

I like the site you guys have been putting a effort in. Also very big thanks for putting my game up there on the website. I might need you to change the price though. I'm changing it on the intel appup store from $4.99 to $1.99. My updated full game, and demo should be comming out soon I just submitted it. Well keep up the good job guys!

Hi guys,

I promised to show some images of my next APP. Well, I've had a busy week but I made some screenshots of my new game.

F.A.R ( Future Aero Racing )

http://www.nurendsoft.com/datos/2011_img/forums/far_sc01.jpg

http://www.nurendsoft.com/datos/2011_img/forums/far_sc02.jpg

Inspired in F1 racing games and F-ZERO ( without looping XD )

- 9 cars
- 6 circuits, you can select weather and the hour of the race ( midday, afternoon or night )
- Ranking online of best times for each circuit.
and this game use 3-D ( like Cañon Pirata 3D App )

I'm trying to publish a free demo as soon as posible.

Yes, I tested it in a neetbook and the game run at 50 Fps and with 3-D actived runs at 40 Fps.

I need to optimize AI of the rival cars and add some particles ( sparks, smoke, rain, etc ..) but I think the game can run at 30.0 fps without problems.

Quote: " is that motion blur?"

No, I don't use shaders because I would like that the game see and specialy run, the best as possible on all of the computers. Is a texture effect but looks really good XD

It's a simple quad pointing always to the main camera with a texture. The important when you make a glow or shiny objects, is that the light, ambient light, fog and lightmap doesn't affect the object.

Simple trick but very useful because no need use shaders or special processing.

I see, you can probably tell I don't do a lot of 3D programming. When I heard about AppGameKit it became a low priority.
