Could someone please explain to me whether we're looking at the mouth or the behind of this beautifully modelled thing?

The only way to be totally sure is by removing that helmet(Which you can´t).

The first thing it reminded me of was the enemies in Zelda: Twilight Princess. Yours looks every bit as strange, surrealistic and creepy!

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

That's pretty amazing!! You've come a long way with this.

While you were working on the AI have you thought of friendly NPCs that can fight with you against all the other monsters?

My first instinct is that he has not, but if it's going to happen it would have to be a prominent thing. I find things that happen only once in a video game to be out of place, like just having one npc fighting for one level only. Seems to be just a thrown in idea at that point. Just my two cents...

And in other news, that is one hell of a good texturing job.

I think allied characters would kinda throw off the feel of the game. Being alone on a dark quest is pretty cool to begin with, throwing in a friendly NPC would probably become more of an annoyance and disturb the atmostphere too much. I mean, finding NPCs that might assist you in your quest or visa versa is one thing, but I would refain from ever giving the player a fighting buddy.

That's all probably true. I kind of had my mind on the technical AI stuff rather than what effect it would have on gameplay.

Either way, that is still some freaking awesome stuff!!!

Oh, new comments!

No, I won´t add a fighting buddy. For the reasons that has already been mentioned.
I´m working on a new enemy again, btw. This one will replace the large demon or the wolf.

I think I managed to find the tutorial on which I based my code on:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=10315&b=6
This is the dbp version but I know there´s is a dbc version too(I just can´t find it).

Thanks for that. I was able to get it to do some things, and I think it pointed me in the right direction, but I wasn't able to get it working the way I want in the time I've spent on it so far. I've posted a thread in the DBC boards, that specifies exactly what I want. It looks like the code you gave me can do al that, I'm just not sure how it works.

Oh, also; how did you set black to the solid color in your transparencies (like the shadow)? I'm sure it's something obvious I just don't know, but I really need that sort of thing

Yes it´s me allrigt. I´m currently not coding that game, but I may continue after I´ve finished this game.

Ok...
A new enemy is done and I´ve decided to call him "forest guardian".
He is quite a pretty large enemy and will hopefully be quite a challenge in battle. He´ll replace both the large red demon and the wolf.

I´m now moving on to the next new enemy,
which will behave a little like this one:

[Edit]now it works!

Thanks for the comments guys!
The next enemy I told you about will(just as the zelda one) appear in water. It´ll be some kind of snake so I modified my hat code a little! Here´s a pic of a cylinder controlled by six bones, linked to each other. When I animate the bones the skin will follow. If it hadn´t been so hard to implement I would have used this for more complex shapes and enemies too, but it had probably lowered the fps more then.

I uploaded a video of the animation!

Remember, this animation was done in DBC, not DBP.

I side with Bizar Guy (who, to his shame, hasn't played Metal Gear Solid).

Extremely impressive. Will the FPS last with some of these nearby?

It's looking great. Vertex manipulation? (If DBC has it)

Today I´ve managed to increase the fps a lot(54->179) in my bone animation system, so now the fps won´t likely drop much when soulhunter encounters this enemy. I´ve also managed to add a mirror effect for it too(remember, this is going to be a water enemy), which doesn´t seem to affect the fps at all!
