No way- I got the 1500th post on SoulHunter? I should get some sort of award! Maybe a mention in the credits?

WINNER list:

The counter says that this post is the 1505 post, so didn't I get the 1500 post?

Congratulations for the 1500th post, zzz!

Back on topic, please...

Nope, in threads this long the outside counter starts to screw up. this is the 1505 post.

Quote: "I should get some sort of award! Maybe a mention in the credits?"

...No, I should hope not. Getting some post number in the WIP thread does not really seam credit worthy, seeing as you were not at all even here for the process of most of the game, and have given no feedback that really helped improve the game. It's up to zzz what get's into his credits outside what's necessary, but if it were my game, I would thank the TGC community, or not mention it at all.

@zzz, it's good to see you're still making progress, and almost done! I know how hard it is this far in.

I think your sarcasm detector might be broken .

Anyway, zzz, the water in the third screen looks quite good! Your effects are excellent .

Maybe, But moreso it depends on who says it, and if they use the proper smiley, like the one you used. The most recent things I remember Brick Break posting in Geek Culture made me think he might be serious.

This isn't about me. SoulHunter is not the place for serious discussion. This thread is for Jarl to post his progress on what could be the best game ever made with DarkBASIC. I played the 2008 demo, and was blown away. I might even consider it my favorite PC game.

I know... The graphics and programming details are unbelievable.

@ zzz

Did you get some award from TGC for this? There should be a badge like in those modeling competitions. You have the 3D master for the best model and texture, then I think there is a reward for the best model and a reward for the best texture.

There should be something like that for games, and you should get the MASTER badge.

Is that boned animation too?

Those pillars aren't 3D, are they? I hope they are plains with a 3D texture... I don't want to torture my computer.

The new url for the site is http://soulhunter.bytegrove.com/, the main download link should work.

They have a total of only 300 polygons.

Hew um- DBC, dude! Unless you mean ghosting, of course. Which wouldn't look good.

Oh no, they really are in 3d, as I wrote previously.
I could put a plain there and it would look good in the screenshot,
but as soon as you began playing...
"Eeek!"

@Brick Break:
I use ghosted clouds for the regular levels, so I know how it looks. The video you linked doesn't really contain any storm clouds, does it? I want my storm clouds to look thick, which they won't if I apply ghosting to them.

@TheComet:
"Total" means all of them.

Well, you can use inverted alphablending, specified by a flag at the end of the GHOST OBJECT command. I think that may be what you're looking for.

@Brick Break.
Yes I know. Haven't you noticed that I use it a lot in SoulHunter? However, using that effect on the storm clouds looks bad.
If it is the jagged edges on the clouds that you're worried about, I can assure you that they are harder to notice in motion.

This looks excellent and kul all at once. I just want to start smashing the dragon.

The clouds are perfect as well. It goes very well with the game's artistic style.

Dude I've been waiting for this game for years now and I'm still as excited for it as the first time i saw it. That fight with the croc gets an A++ just for how awesome it looks. Once you finish this game, I'm making a page on giantbomb first thing (I could use the points ).

Do you have an idea when you might release it? I'm dieing to play it.

Edit: So my first post in this thread was 13th Mar 2006 06:08. That's over 3 years, and not even when i first started following it. I hope this loyal SoulHunter fan will be able to play the finished game soon.

I've been following this since the 4th post, and it's come a long way. The game play, cameras, enemies, cinematics, everything has come very far. The use of shading, shape and color in the croc scene outdo everything previous in the game. Very impressive. Also, I think I know what's going on a bit now ... but I'll wait and see!

The head of croc should be rotated down a bit more so you see her (it is feminine, right?) angry eyes.

Vaguely reminds me of Dumbledores fire spell in the seaside cave - which is one of the best special effects I've seen in a while - so that's a good thing.
