I'd absorb Bizay Guy, zzz and SFSW and no, this was never funny. This is getting absurd.

The forum on which the programming language in which the game is made is not a random forum. zzz is more than capable developerwise to create this, shown in the advanced development concepts and tricks used and described in the topic. Soulhunter was here when I signed up, I think!

So please, ban the guy already, will you?

I changed my mind since the last thread. Given the abusive threat in this thread, both accounts are banned.

The mixing of 'thread' and 'threat' is confusing, man. Glad that's over.

mmm... those last several posts were a game within itself.

That game is amazing, by the way. Reminds me a lot of the N64 games. Like Zelda and Banjo Kazooie mixed or something.

Thanks Zzz, you are right I really wasn't impressed with it after reading about how it functions. You did a hell of a nice job with it and I'm sure it took a lot of work. I would love to pick your brain sometime if you ever get time to just talk.

Hi,
I have a look at your web site,
it's shinning!

I have a question.

How you did that game boy?, is it a 3d object or an image?.

When you pause your game you can hover over your sword shield or candle, so the image gets bigger. I think the black part should be transparent.

When you pause the game also, you can change the keys for your weapons, i think they should be shown somewhere in the same pause screen.

Hi again everyone, it was a while since I posted. To be frank I haven't made much progress. However, I have in the last couple of days managed to finish the model for the first stage of the last boss battle!
Let's see how many can recognize the character:

In the second stage it will take the form of a giant crocodile/snake/dragon-thingy. Working on that right now(it will use the same skin and bone system as the naga).

This guy?

---------
And now for some updates:
I was finally able to apply my skin and bone system to a cylinder with more polygons. It was quite quirky though, due to the limb amount restriction in dbc I had to split the boss into a total of 3 objects.

The mesh being manipulated + the base mesh for the head.

Moving individual vertices.

Hello zzz!

Could you please tell me how you did the collision with the walls using sparky`s? I am having real problems with the collision normals and static collisions and rays... I just don`t know how I should do it... But I see that you did it well with SoulHunter, so I thought I would ask you.

Please respond!

I think I found a good example project, so I based most of the collision code from that project. I think the creator called himself "lokidecat", search the forums for it.

------

I decided to post some updates on the model for the last last boss phase(from now on he/she/it will be referred to as "croc").

This is my first texturing job using my cintiq, and as you can see it looks promising.

Um, interesting texturing.

Model is very well done though.

I'm still impressed that you used that example to do it. I gave up, but that might be because I had most of a physics engine working with some collision I was coding that was defined by variables and not actual objects, and tried to get it all to work at once.

REALLY good modelling, though I think it might look better if the horns on his head part a bit more, but that's just me.

Actually, it looks kind of cute and adorable... But yet nasty at the same time.

@zzz

Remember me complaining about the donwload size, and you complaining about x files only being able to load bmp's for their texture?

Well, I did some tests, and found a way around it.

You should convert all images not so fatal of lossy quality into jpg, the other ones into png's. Then when the game starts, you load all of the images, and then save them back into bmp format, and then load the level. When closing the game, just delete the bitmaps, and that's that.

@TheComet:
Thanks for trying to find a workaround, but...
What would be ideal is if the textures(non-bmp) that I load into my 3d editor would stay on the model when I load it into dbc. I could do like you say(But why resave as bmp? When textures are loaded they can be applied to a model directly), but then I'd have to retexture all objects, hardcoded or by identifying each limb's texture name and then retexture(png, jpg etc), it would certainly take some time to code and the loading times would become like 3x longer.

I think Thecomet is trying to say is in the 3d editor texture the objects in bmp export the x model
with the .bmp texture like what you done now but then use a paint program to change the texture
into .jpg. and put the .jpg in to the .zip folder with the EXE file.

in runtime load the .jpg and change them to .bmp and save them in a Temp folder then load the models.
edit: This may increase loading time 1st time round, but after the game has played the 1st time round and
the game has been stop, before closing delete the .jpgs and keep the .bmps to drop loading time
after the 1st play.

hope this helps
