I can understand why you want the migration and the source, but in a biased opinion I disagree. The way I see it, other more important upgrades have been introduced besides the migration e.g. the Game Creator's Store, a variable system and a number of scripting actions and conditions. Using the current engine, Lee can edit things and see what changes in the coding improve performance. The promised migration features such as water will have an impact on performace, and so if Lee had just 'jumped' straight in, I doubt performance for the migration would have much greater performace, hence these upgrades which are, in a way, tests.

I agree, I like the steady movement towards this Utopian idea of the Migration....

It's like Valve's Source engine, rather than version jumps like the Unreal Engine or other commercial engines tend to do, often leaving old users in the dust performance-wise after a major update, the Source engine is slowly being edited, updated, tweaked, polished, tested and double tested, and that's why it's such a good engine...

I'd like to see that happening with the migration too. THe longer we wait for it, the sweeter it'll be...

I dont know. I'm not really looking forward to the migration anymore. After studying Fpsc's source code for 1.07, I think that its better we just do it all ourselves, and instead of all these new "features", Lee will just get a Lod system working, so i don have to...lol.

Well Lee said he wasn't doing any more hard coding into the engine until the migration, and honestly i think it will be plenty stable.

Yikes, it's been over a month since update, Lee must be taking a long needed break, since hes been working non stop for so long

so we wait 500 years and then we get the so long(extra extra ultra very long) migration????

i hope lee soon releases the final 1.15 and source so he can get to coding migration as soon as possible so we get it faster

In all honesty, about the only thing I want from migration is the ragdolls, and that's just because of my hatred for the default death animations (and ragdolls are plain cool anyways). The other features are more likely to come along with problems.

Personally, I just want the source to stabilize so that utilizing mods does not require downgrading to an old version.

I'm not looking forward to the migration anymore. Sorry, but unless it turns out to be at least half decent, I will not be using FPSC anymore as this wait has become ridiculous.

I'm also not as worried for the migration. It will be a huge step up for FPSC, but I must agree with everyone else. If Lee (and the rest of the community) can work out a faster, more stable engine, we should release the source so that modders can do the rest.

Hi Guys,

V115 seemed solid enough the last few weeks so I have released it into the wild. I have had some tentative requests to release the V115 source code prior to any lengthy migration development, so that the modders can take over in the short-term to deal with any additions you might require as I go deep into development for a few months. If I can get it working well with the current U73/U74 version of DBP, then the idea has merit. I will investigate this now and let you know in another thread. Thanks again for your help testing V115 and I am sure it is a good addition to the FPSC universe.

I drink tea, and in my spare time I write software.

Thank you for considering our requests and providing us such great work, Lee. I'm sure you won't regret providing the source for us.

No, because we aren't going to be waiting 500 years... You are exaggerating.

I shall download and test 1.15 soon!

WHAT!?!? A MISSPELLED WORD!?!? You make MODS with the source code! MODS! How else did S4Mod or Efx Mod or Lemur or every other mod come to be? The source code! What's the whole "Migration" thing?

Wow, awesome! This is fantastic news, and will open up all kinds of doors for the modding community...even the un-modded community. I hope all goes smoothly with the new source.

This will then definitely free up your time from the "this doesn't work..." and "Can you add this and that to V1.5?".

I might actually use a mod if they are transported over to 1.15. I just haven't had the time to do a dual version of FPSC to reinstall 1.09, so this is very beneficial. Thanks!

We have allies already, and water physics are avalible in some mods. The migration should have water physics hard coded into FPSC, but that's a different story.

...but yes, I'm also quite excited for 1.15 source code.

I think he means hard coded in so that in its properties pane it asks ally or enemy and that they follow you amd kill the enemy and don't require be controlled by you. Not the ones like what hockey kid made but like in FPS Creator X10.

We just need the source. After that, possibilities are endless. People should start reading their DBPRO manuals and seeking tuts.

Thanks for an upgrade Lee.
Just want to ask, why can't we have the source code for V1.15? I would just like to know if it's like a copyright thing or it's not compatible or something.

Thanks,
Shiv
