Yes, very crucial point Cipher, but AM I ALLOWED MUSIC FROM OTHER GAMES IN MY COMPO ENTRY?! Im Itching to try out my Phoenix Wright MP3s in my game!

Im a new user, im young and FPI-dyslexic, i simply dont have the foggiest and cant learn FPI, so copy and paste code snippets please!

Hmmmph. My guess would be that if you are thinking of distributing your game, free or sold, you wouldn't be allowed to put the MP3s in due to licensing rights. That's my assumption. If it's from another game and you have permission to use the sound files then go ahead, i.e. if its freeware. But if not I wouldn't.

But I'd get the answer as well off someone who knows

If you use any media in your game that's not of your own creation, you have to have a license to use it.

@ FPI Scripts Copy and Paste
Well it depends if you have permission to use the music from the original creator or the music has a licence in it saying that you can use it for commercial use. But if you say use music from half life with out asking its illegal.

This is right from the Rules so there is no confusions or any more questions about it.

@TechNo VaLLey - Hahaha, Yeah I had the same deal. Contest entry was 145mb, alot of free file transfer sites are capped off at 100mb (unless you pay) However I found a free service with up to 300mb space. Yet I started it at 8.00-8.30pm and it didnt fully upload until 3.00am.
Some how I slept through half the upload, to wake up with only a few minutes to go. Then decided to send Darkfact a email at about 3.30-4.00am.
What a night...


@Inspire - Hahaha, classic inspire!


@Woolfman - Great work by yourself, good to see someone putting in some effort and making it a bit easier for DarkFact. Your updates I just read, are a great addition to keeping everyone informed. Nice work!


Also in relation to the contest, Ive seen some interesting posts in the last few pages. I wish anyone that has entered, or planning to, All the best! Good luck to the judges, and a big thanks to DarkFact.
And for some of the others, not being able to submit a entry. I have been watching a few threads closely. And plan to contact a few people over the next following weeks.

Its not uploading, my internet is broken, unless i upload it during tomorrow, at 8am, im screwed. Im sorry DarkFact, but ill have to pull out the competition if i cant get my file uploaded.

EDIT: Or is it +5 hours behind? I forget... But my FPSC Game Engine broke down, so i had to script setuplevel.fpi with my two hands, took me 2 hours but the HUD is mucked up

So Judges, when you judge this, please take pity on this poor teenager who spent 2 hours rescripting the FPSC Game Engine.

They won't. In my opinion, it's unfair to make exceptions. I know a few of the judges feel the same.

And you're saying you recoded the engine for two hours?

no, i meant its broken, i dunno why, so when i built my game i had to make my own setuplevel.fpi, and titlepage.fpi, and win and lose game fpi. but the loading screens and compiled level data were there! But i had to move files from folders in FPSC to pgpsbullet.

Good news and bad news: Good news is the submission phase has ended. The bad news is that I turned 40 8 minutes ago.

There are 2 entries left to be downloaded. This will give a total of 9 entries. The 5 finalists will be announced on time (or sooner) and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place entries will be announced on time or sooner as well.

DarkFact, i sent you another email regarding the logs on Mission 1, i forgot to tell you that you use the N key to read notes on the tables.

EDIT: Im sure i wont be in the top 10 finalists, because thanks to FPS Creator, i had to script it by hand, and resulting in the health hud is mucked up, so you should find the nearest automed when the sniper guy shoots you twice.

DOUBLE EDIT: But i made a script in Mission 3 on the final test, which i think you will like, but if any of my built data goes wrong, in the levelbank folder, put level1 in a backup folder and rename level2 and 3 level1 & 2.
That way, when you start a new game, you will start mission 2, not mission 1. When i release CodeRack, i should put a password lock on the levelbank, to make sure no hackers cheat to the final level.

TRIPLE EDIT: Sorry! I forgot, when you type in codes, use the numbers above the keys, when you walk up to tha AI, select with the numpad.

Just a quick note t tell you that i may have to pull out of being a judge due to my motherboard blew sky high, and i have had to order a new one, and the parts won't arrive to tuesday, and i wouldn't want to hold the compertition up because of delayed judging.

yeah, sorry to everyone who couldnt get their entry in, but there are more competitions coming later, i will be holding one when i finish CodeRack: Alteration, the competition would be:

1st Place: CodeRack: Alteration Collectors Edition + CodeRack Classic
2nd Place: CodeRack: Alteration + Puzzle Pack
3rd Place: CodeRack: Alteration

But, the competition wont be till next year. So keep an eye out for more competitions from our forum "buddies" at TGC!
