I have an idea

Make this one a little less short, make it at the end he gets a uber power up, and turn into this really badass demon looking dude and you play with him in the sequel

and then you make the sequel, but you don't show the badass soulhunter until you release a w.i.p. of the sequel.

Yay! For a sec I was afraid this was going to die....

@ zzz, is that fire on the daemon dude's pitch fork? 'Cause if it is, it looks pretty strange with no transparency... or maybe it just looks strange not in motion?

And definitely add the heart sound.

Yeah, I know it looks quite wierd, and yes it looks better in motion. I may ghost it later.

The sword-lv will increase when your sword gets upgraded by a blacksmith, not done with that yet.

OMG, I guess this is what I get for not participating in the community for a while. That looks really cool and is a huge improvment from the screens I was seeing a long time ago. Keep up the good work.

Uhh, zzz, are you putting this on hold for the compo or something? Just hoping for some progress or a reason for none here.

Umm, I´ve not planned to enter the compo.
I´m still making progress on this game, just a bit slower than when I started, one of the reasons could be that I spend a lot of time making a handheld videogame using a NOAC.

It´s fun to see that you´re back on the forums, Bush Baby!
I´m sorry for the lack of progress on soulhunter, but it´s a lot of schoolwork right now. And a couple of weeks ago my computer crashed, luckily I had made several backups of SoulHunter on different disks. Now I´m up and running again and I´ll publish a new video as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, check out my handheld-game-console-project at:

@Crazy:
It has about 20-30 built-in NES games.

@Valle:
Thanks!

@Xenocythe:
Yup, and I hope that it will work.

Here´s a new enemy. This one is a little different from the others. It will appear in a specific place. In a kind of mini-game.

Low-poly, the texture does it all.

Holy crap man. I wish I could figure out how to do that. Good luck with it. I'm expecting to see a new line of gaming consoles in peoples homes called "Nintendo ZZZ"

I like the enemy. Yes, low poly, but a good texture. May I ask what you use to draw the texture, and how the hell you learned to texture so well?

AT LAST!
I´m finally done with the near-death-minigame!
I´ll explain how it will work.

!Spoiler! Not much though.
When you die, you´re smoothly teleported to the realm between life and death, were a horrifying(or just ugly?) beast tries to kill you once and for all. If you have found the mindstone you won´t die at once, instead you can use the mindstone and the sword to shoot captured souls at the one-eyed monsters(see my prev. post) that flies around. This will make them bounce back at the beast and hopefully you´ll scare him off before it´s too late. Then you´ll return to the place where you were killed, with full HP, and soulhunter will, automatically, unleash sword combo no.5 at the monster that killed you.
All this + quite a lot of camera cinematics!

Tomorrow I´ll continue with lv3!

Edit:
I have to say that I got one of my flash games published at http://www.wiicade.com, a game site that is made just for wii-compatible flash games. My game is the one called "Mad_Turtles". It´s located under "Action".

@Xenocythe: I use Paintshop, Photoshop and Paint.

Thanks for the kind words Valle and Bizarguy!

I´ll tell you a little bit of what I´m working on.
I´ve added a "button"-system, like in zelda. Step on a button and something happens.
The first boss is modelled and ready to be animated, its weapon is something you´ve seen before (but maybe you didn´t think it could be that lethal). I´ll soon start to code the actual "boss1-battle-code", I have a great idea of how it should work.
I also found out how to implement some kind of motion blur in dbc, I´ve not tested it yet though, because it would be a little tricky and time-consuming.
The story is completed (if I don´t change it), and almost all the cut-scenes are in my head.

Motion blur in dbc?!?! Darn it! I need to work on my dbc effects more until I have better ones than you!

Could the bosses weapon be a candle? Oh wait! I already asked if that was leathal. What about a mushroom?

Oh, and which level is the 1st boss in?

Ok, I just have to show you the blur effect! I never thought it was possible to make something like this in dbc. The effect works perfect in 320x240x32 but if I use a higher resolution I have to lower the blur´s "smoothness", if I want the game to run faster.

I´m not sure if this effect should be included in soulhunter, but it sure is quite .

ONE line of code for the blur itself!

WoW.

I wouldn't use it for every scene, but for anything you decide to do slow motion in, or anywhere you particularly want to emphasise motion.

Very nice. Motion blur in dbc is definitely worth a mention in like the newsletter or something.

I can't understand why this doesn't have a sticky. Has it even gotten mention in the newsletter yet?? I just don't get it.
